For those interested in attending the Red River Ruckus (CFOG-International's first South Central Regional event) at Lake Texoma in October, this is your reminder that the pre-registration deadline is July 31, after which the cost goes up $10. But more importantly at this point, we need 18 more registrations by then or the event will be canceled. Here's the link again... http://www.cfog-i.org/RRR/index.html - scroll down to the middle of the page and click to bring up the registration form. Yes, we take Paypal, just select to pay by credit card and follow the instructions.
Regarding room reservations: When you call the lodge, they will require a one-night's advance deposit, but you have until September 11 to make reservations. They will no longer hold rooms for us after that date.
Here's the rooms they have: "Guest rooms" = $55 - Smoking or non-smoking - Either 1 queen bed, or 1 full & 1 twin "Terrace rooms" = $70 - Smoking or non-smoking - 1 full & 1 twin - poolview with sun deck "Studio cottages" = $70 - Sleeps 4 - 1-room efficiency cottage - 1 queen bed & 1 queen sleeper - kitchenette w/ rangetop & dorm size refrigerator - carpeted - heating & a/c - phone & TV - NOT lakeview "Two bedroom cabins" = $105 - Sleeps 8 - full bed in 1st b/r - 2 twins in 2nd b/r - 2 double sleepers in l/r - kitchenette w/ fullsize stove & oven and fullsize refrigerator and microwave - carpeted - heating & a/c - fireplace - phone & TV.
Unfortunately, Chuck, even July 31 is still 2 1/2 months before the get together. Most people will not make definite plans (i.e. commit $$$$) to attend this event more than a month or so in advance!
I must admit, even I (who probably was first! (other than CFOG-I officers) to register) have not made reservations at the lodge. I will before the month is over, though.
BTW - anyone want to share a room ($55.00 one). Let me know and I'll make the reservations.
Just how many are registered so far?

Let's see the Tote board that I borrowed from the Jerry Lewis Telethon...

But hey, the other 18 have until July 31st. Sorry, but I can't extend the pre-registration date beyond that. Some money needs to be spent, and I'm not going to spend it until I know the event will take place. I've already spent my own time & money on the planning thus far, and I'm happy to do it, but I won't spend the club's money needlessly.

We're talkin on the Oklahoma side of the Red River, about 15 miles west of Durant. That's just north of Denison, Texas. The facility's official name is Lake Texoma State Resort Park.
On that website up at the first post in this thread, there's some area info links at the bottom of that page. Also, on the registration form itself is a link to another map.

I just realized the RRR is on the OKLAHOMA side of the Red River.
Does that mean we Texans have to get our shot records brought up to date before we'll be allowed back into Texas or do we just have to go through the usual dip at the border?

Still 17 to go, but only 20 days now. This is one slow moving vehicle! Once we get the minimum participation, the wheels will be put in motion and the remaining work to make this happen will commence. I'm just watching & waiting now. Tick... tock...

That's right... The funds received for registrations are going into a separate account in the club treasury (not to me), and if the event is canceled, your money WILL be refunded.
Okay, tell ya what... I'll add my juggling act into the festivities! NOW will you sign up? (hey, I can't sing or dance)

Just be sure you have your GREEN CARDS with you, or we won't let you across the river in the first place!!
My registration is on it's way.

Those of you interested in coming, who just got paid today, click that link at the top!
Remember, you don't have to reserve a room just yet, but 13 more registrations are needed within 13 days.
If you really want to see me sweat, make this event a reality. Come August 1st, if there's 20 or more registered, I'm going to be a very busy person. Otherwise I'll get back to my CFOG-I Presidential duties and leave the regional functions to our new South Central Director, Loyde Rascoe (FastFieros here on PFF). You decide.
I would like to go but I will be unable to enter. What is the exact day and time. Stimpy if I can go can I follow you again, also I might be willing to share a room with someone I will get back to everyone on this.

Saturday, October 12th, the Show-n-shine starts by 12 (Noon). The games will start around 3:00 or 4:00. We'll be at Sanford's for a steak dinner that evening. Sunday, October 13th, after breakfast will be a scavenger-hunt type cruise that lasts until lunchtime. After lunch is free time until the trivia game/awards ceremony/banquet that evening.
The times will be more certain after further planning commences, IF we get enough participation to proceed.
You're gonna get real tired of seeing this thread between now & July 31. Why not just register NOW, so I don't have to keep bringing it up? http://www.cfog-i.org/RRR/index.html

I would love to go but it is dependent on me getting leave due to the fact I am in the military, I also think that there are other AAFO members that wish to come. Our meeting is on the 28th I will see if any one wants to go.

I was not planning on entering because my car is still in bad condition. The only looks that have been changed is that I sanded the front fascia and the windows are tinted. How much is it to enter thought maybe I will just to suport the cause.

The important thing here is the fun, not the appearance of your car, although there will be a popular vote for favorite. I'm considering including a vote for ugliest, if folks won't get offended. But the games will include slow drags, push drags, part replacement contest, stop-on-a-dime, blindfold drive (!), and lug nut toss. What the cars look like shouldn't have any affect on the enjoyment. We just want to get together.
Cost is $35 for CFOG-I members, $45 for non-members. After July 31 it goes up $10. There will be an opportunity to join CFOG-I at the event at a discount, offsetting the non-member difference. But if you wait until then, you'll miss one or two issues of our newsletter.

Well, apparently the last two registrations were mailed in. If so, I'm looking for eleven (11) more in 9 days. Hmmm...
[/B][/QUOTE] Yep, & it was a fight. Please tell me I was supposed to write CFOG-I in the "to" area of the money orders.?. (anybody?)A little late now but CFOG-I's webpage could use a little more info on it regarding these things. It's a little hard to stuff a check or Money order in my CD ROM slot & press 'submit' on the web page to find out the correct mailing address etc, Not flaming, just a suggestion. Don Btw, I used the "contact us" function on the website yesterday morning, to find these things out-got a message on the screen telling me I would receive a reply via email-("watch your email" it said)--nothing yet.
