Aluminum wings are the pinnacle of nastiness. There is not a car on this planet who's lines are RUDELY interrupted by an ugly angular chunk of low-grade alumninum.
There is NO car on this planet on which an aluminum spoiler DOES NOT look tacky and out-of-place.
And you can't POSSIBLY tell me you see any functional benefit. Oh, unless of course you managed to secure some wind-tunnel time, and hired a team of aeronautical engineers based out of the local rice/speed shop.
Do yourself and everyone else a favor, and go bare-back.

Anyway, to whosever site that is where his wife made it, your pic was really small so here it is in bigger form (I changed the brightness/contrast on the picture to make it look better, and I made the file size smaller.. and the dimensions smaller on one [640x480]):

You know Mach10, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one and they all stink.
If everyone followed your advice it be a boring world.
I say do what YOU like.

Possibly, but the cars would look a look nicer!
Do what you like. I can't stand them. Aesthetically speaking, As far as I'm concerned, you might as well slap a 30-ft radar dish in place of the sunroof
Fiero has too nice lines to interrupt with the likes of an aluminum spoiler

Let's just say that IF I were to do a wing, it would be the exact one chester has, with those stands, in that location. I think he hit on the one 'right' looking setup.
Practically speaking? I'm going to work on airflow under the car long before I do anything with wings (other than pull the stock one). Wonder what could be done with a 355-like 'lip' ?
If you want one, duplicating chester's setup is the Way To Go (IMHO.)

I guess next day air means "almost" next day air. Recived an email stating a delivery date of 8/22. Gee, I ordered it on Tuesday and paid the extra mula to have it shipped and this is what happens. Can't trust all those companies that sell on ebay. I had planned to work on the car tonight. Actually I still got a bug to work on it so I am gonna go rip the old spoiler off!
Pictures will be taken with stock wing, no wing (never done this!), and new wing. Shall be posted by Saturday.
Thanks boys and girls!
BTW, each person has their own opinion, although I think posting once is enough to state the fact you don't like something.

RIGHT ON! I was talking cleaning up the airflow underneath the car in another aero thread and some dork that used to work for NASA jumped all over me.
Have you seen pics of the underbody of the Enzo? There's no reason why that can't be done for the fiero. I don't even think it would cost too much.
Mach10, I've got to disagree(that's a first lol) about needing a tunnel to install a wing. Just model it in Fluent and then optimize. Seriously though, it's not rocket science.

I believe that some of it is because of the age differences. Most of us with "ricers" are in our twenties and younger.
The older generation usually doesn't care for the RICE look. But we all have different goals. My dad is into Muscle Cars. I like them, they go like hell, but I bought a Fiero to go 150mph, AROUND A CORNER!! Ricers look like they're flying even when they're parked.
I bought these huge 19" wheels for the fiero(see post) and I thought that they looked incredible. The first word out of everyones mouth was "DAMN" it looks like a different car. My dad who isn't into rice said "I like the wheels but I don't like the look of those rubberband tires!"
To Each Their Own.
"RICE IS TODAYS DUKES OF HAZZARD, ROCKFORD FILES, KNIGHT RIDER, AND MORE. IT'S JUST A DIFFERENT GENERATION."

This is about it Mobile. I don't let other peoples opinions deter me nontheless, but I do make statements about other peoples cars.
A lot of people that don't like the "rubberband" wheels. Well, they are the ones that probably have a low key 14 or 15" aftermarket wheels that I think looks silly! That's just a matter of a person's taste.
Now, back to the "wing" topic. Tonight is the night! The completion of "rice Fiero" will be done! I will not however have the decklid finished for probably a week. Got to fill the old holes and paint it.

I'll second that. Chester's is 'just right' for aluminum. If I were to get one, it would look just like it.

I have, I've also seen a F355 underbody in person, and I can tell you, it won't be *easy* (the biggest part will be the cooling system, and venting air to the engine itself. Something like Aus's Stage2 scoops and much ducting would be De Requir... and there would be more to do along those lines untill the car was sorted...BUT!)
I do think it's entirely doable, and would be more than a little functional (turn a lifting vehicle into one that makes *ANY* downforce, and watch your lap times fall like a brick.)
No weekend project, but one I'm excited about, and am going to be looking at in detail once I have a good rolling chassis to expiriment on (silver car)
Best! Ben.

I wonder what McLaren would think of your (Aluminum Spoiler + Fiero = Rice) formula? I think if it is good enough to grace the backside of a $1,000,000+ sportscar, it would be just fine to hold the rice comments for those who try to put a 240 HP V-Tec into the Fiero. No, wait, how much does your stock Fiero V-6 put out?

If I was writing the check for a million $ I would tell them to leave that steaming turd off the back of my new rocket and replace it with something that is molded into the body and not looking like an afterthought. My guess is a spoiler is probably required if you're going faster than 200 mph - not really an issue for me tho.
I agree with artherd - there are very few cases where a bolt on erector set lookin wing is done right. And IMHO, 99% of those are on purpose built race cars. You know - the things ricers try to simulate.
But then, I don't even like the factory wing on the Feiro that much

Isn't that a picture of the race only Le Mans version of the McLaren F1 (the GT-R, maybe, I can't remember the correct model name)? If I remember correctly, the normal McLaren that was available for public street use had a retractable pop up spoiler that deployed at a certain speed. It wasn't really visible until it did. That's what I'd want on my McLaren.

I didn't mention anything about stock of course not stock....ah im not arguing about it...I would never pay 1000000 bucks for a car, the wing on the f1 has function though because the car goes fast enough to need the downforce.
Slammed.... It's your car... Do what you want to do... I just learned that the hard way a few day's ago! Pic's please! edited--- because I had to bite my tounge!
The spoiler is installed! I think it looks pretty good, it sits at just about the same spot as the stock spoiler with the 7" stands. Not higher, not any wider, so I like it. It does sit back a little bit farther on the decklid.
A note on these type of spoilers, being a lot of these are installed on Hondas and cars of similiar type (thin metal trunks), they supply you with pretty small 6mm screws. I had to get longer ones to fit the decklid. I have to finish the decklid yet and clean up underneath it.
I should have the pic's up by Saturday night.
Most of the comments on it have been that it looks sweet. My mom came into the garage when I was installing it and said, "It looks kind of like an antenna." LOL
I don't plan on going to Fierorama, but will be attending a few more local shows this year.
Pic's will be soon!

NO,NO, the wing an inch lower, we are talkn about wings here right?
I am satisfied how it turned out, although there are some things I have been toying with. One for example is my gas door sticker. I took it of. I really didn't care the chrome on it being there isn't much chrome in many other places on my car.
Also, I like the clear taillight look, but as far as the Fiero tailights, if it was clear all the way across it would look a lot better. I just don't really care for the black center with mine. What I would like to do is come up with away to make it all clear. For now I am going to put the diffusers back in.

I have to repaint the decklid yet and I am going to paint the scoop as well.

Nice choice! Ties in nicely with the rest of the car. I persoanlly don't like high wing stantions but at least you can see under it Between my roll bar and wing I have 0 visibility out the rear view mirror. I'm wiring a color bullet camera and lcd screen for the rear view
Njoy it!
I like to overall "theme" of your car.
