not really a new one. actually a combo of about 3 ideas i've seen here...

been seeing these on ebay. a mini l88 scoop. he has one on ebay off and on but i emailed him direct and got one for i think $25 (might have been $30) plus shipping. if anyone remembers the rear vents i'm playing with for my conv., it's the same guy.

what i want to try is this...

to cut out the section where the top part dips in similar to a warbird type vent so that air can be vented there or at the windshield.

the only problem i see so far is that it's a little shorter than i thought it would be. about 34". so to have it come all the way up to the windshield it almost dosen't cover any of the d shaped opening we use for vents. i think it will get enough to have some positive effect, but i'll have to do more measuring to know for sure (just got it in the mail).

got a spare hood so when i get a chance (family crisis making me get even less done than usual) i'll make some prliminary cuts and see what i have. could be a cheap mod.

Warbird?

Do you mean Warber? As in Archie's Warber hoods?

decided to play with it some...

already made a mistake. could have opened the bottom up more but i've already glassed it on and can't get to it to change it. it should still be effective but could have been more so. i also meant to leave a little more material bettween the two openings but it got a little thin trimming it up. i had already reinforcrd it a little from the bottom before i glassed it on so hopefully it will still be strong enough. if i like the final outcome it will go on my silver gt.

and yeah, i meant warber type vent.

Phillipine,
Here's my "Bazooka" Style Hood. Vents are closer to the Rad. Fan tho.

yep. i noticed yours about the time i saw the scoop for cheap, and also about the time a hood scoop/vent thread was going around. if it works out and i swap hoods i've got another set of firebird fender vents for the hood i take off. if they work out then i play musical hoods match them up to the car they fit to me.

sigh...

had to backtrack. it would have worked as it was but i could see it being better if i started again so i bit the bullet and grinded it off.

3 positives came out of it though. the opening is much better matched to the scoop, i can black out the area under the scoop before i put it on again (otherwise you'd see either the red the hood was through the openings or overspray from trying to get paint to it. this way i can just tape or cover the openings when it's painted and leave it black), and also i like the way it could look if there were no scoop over the opening. if i had been more carefull with the opening, knowing i was going to cover it, and didn't have the hood scared up from pulling the scoop off again i could imagine screening over the hole and leaving it like it is. i may try it a few hoods down the line.

Looks like you have some work ahead of you. Looks like it will be a good mod to get better air flow. Post more pics when you get it figured out.
