Hello folks, I am thrilled to finally be part of your community. Been hanging around reading for about a month now, just waiting to get my own before I joined. Well, I just got my Fiero Tuesday, an 86 GT with four flat tires, clutch, TPS sensor, heater core, battery to replace and as such it cannot move. Have not even started it but that has not stopped me from sitting in it and hearing the roar and seeing the road in my mind's eye. I LOVE THESE CARS!!! What an interesting persective of the road from the cockpit. Which by the way I actually like the Fiero interior, love it really...makes you feel like an Indy driver for some reason. I have always wanted a Fiero and now I have one. Have no clue what to do or how to fix anything since I'm not very mechanically inclined. I would really appreciate your assistance, I know I'll have a ton of questions. My wife has fallen in love with the car also and she is determined to get one We plan to get out to the shows and meet some of you, you all seem so genuine and sincere. A really cool group. I have already experienced the "Fiero haters" and have not even hit the road. My friend from down the street drove by yesterday, stopped his car, backed up, got out and said "what the bleep are you gonna do with THAT lemon", "noone drives a (in a real condescending tone) Fiero" Ha HA HA I say, just you wait. I think he is actually jealous. Pictures do the Fiero NO justice, what a sweet looking car. Gonna give it a shot at posting pics. I have many questions but my main one for now is what size tires/rims would I put on to maintain the same basic height the car has now (about 5 inches off the ground), as I mentioned earlier the tires are all flat (the guy I bought it from said a family member slashed them...but they still love each other LOL) Oh, I also have a pic of my mechanic...he is wearing a black in white suit, his name is Buddie
This was growing inside the car and we found this guy too and decided to keep him as a bodyguard for the Fiero. :-)
The only mechanic I could find that can fit under the Fiero

Not bad! And welcome to the forum. You might want to drop a note to goldcoastfiero@aol.com as they are the closest club to you ( http://www.goldcoastfiero.org/ ) Looks like a great way to enter the Fiero lifestyle! We'll be more than happy to help you turn those peoples' heads (and minds).

Hi there, and welcome to the Feiro group. Don't let anyone get to you about the car, if you ask me the only people who don't like them is someone who's never drove one before.
Good luck with it, I've had my GT for about 2 months now, and I love every second of it.

Welcom to the board. Congratulations on the car, you should have it running in no time. I know my wife wouldn't mind if we came down and helped you, as NO is our favorite city. Best food in the country.
You have a very unique Fiero there! Let me explain:
I have a buddy that has 9 or 10 Fieros. He has been collecting them for about 10 years. Every time he does any repairs, he says he wishes whoever had the car last hadn't lost the most important factory equipment included with the car: THE 12 INCH MAN! I see your car still has him
One time he found a leprecan(sp?) hat and very tiny shoe in the trunk and thought he had finally gotten a complete car, but the 12" man was nowhere to be found! His reasoning is this: since allot of the things you need to get to are in a place hard to reach, a 12" man was included with each new car, so you had a way to get to everything without dissasembling the car!
Anyway, kidding aside, you came to the right place. There are many folks on this board that know all the secrets of maintenance and repair of our little plastic cars. All of them will lend a hand when they can. Get familar with the search function and you will probably find many answers to questions before you even ask. When you can't find it on your own, someone will come to your aid, if you ask the right question. Just don't get impatient, as not everyone "lives" on the computer!
Your car looks to be a good project car and I'm sure with some patience, a little work and I'm sure more than a couple bucks, you can make it into a ride you'll be proud to drive and maybe even take to some shows.
Good luck and it's good to see this board continually growing. Don't forget to thank Cliff once in a while, without him, none of us would be here!
Have a good one!

Welcome to the best place to hang out on the internet. I have no doubt we can answer any and all questions you might have. The first place I would start is with a good service manual. I've read mine cover to cover several times, and then I ask the forum for the little hints that will make the job easier. You're going to love driving that car!
Dude im in Lafayette, let me know when the get together is. There are plenty of fieros in lafayette for sale. Last week an 88 went up for sale in the quikquarter and I found a crashed Ttop 88 at a tow yard. I know of two other for sale too for under a 1000.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. This place IS addictive I just washed the Fiero, so here are a couple "clean" pics.
Here are the only cosmetic touch ups to deal with. The trunk seal must be bad so I'll need a new one and can I get a replacement lining? You know the carpet like lining of the trunk? Also need to find the front piece of the side molding (if that is the proper term) for both the right and left sides.
New seats or covers. From my limited time here I come to the impression that Mr. Mikes is the way to go.
What other resources are there like Mr. Mike's, Rodney Dickman? Could you guys possibly post a few links for me including the Fiero Store which I hear about but have not seen. Hmmmmm I wonder if I try www.fierostore???
To 3.4 TDC FIERO, 86 Fiero GT and others in the area, hopefully we can get together some time, eat pizza (the world's greatest food) and talk Fieros
P.S. Sage, the 12 inch man kicks butt!!! He works cheap too

007.... Welcome. you picked the best color they made.. I wish you lived closer to Ks. I would like to help. I love working on fieros.... As for the trunk mat, just pull it out (4 gray plastic plugs & trunk light) then take TUFF STUFF (Auto carpet cleaner) in the big yellow can, soak it down. Then run it to the car wash. Power wash it for the hole time. Let it dry & put it back in... Good as new!
Good luck!
Thanks, Chris.

007, sorry it took so long to see your post. By now, you've had your car for a couple of months...hope you and the wife still love it as much as the day you brought it home! How about some updates on what you've been doing with it? I have to admit, I REALLY like the color scheme. Maybe you can tell by the pic of my 86...
One other place you'll want to know about, and not that far from you, is Ed Parks' Fiero Factory: http://www.thefierofactory.com/
Just keep working on it...soon, you'll be driving something that you'll be proud of!

You have a nice platform in that 86, I have always liked white on Fiero's. For some reason that color works really well on our cars. Buddie just needs some TLC and it will be up and ready. The drivability/ control of these cars still amazes me even after 6 years of owning mine. Just today I blew through a left-handed turn sliding my back-end a little while a honda S2000 sat at the intersection just watching me go by. Something either newer sports cars can't do, or most likely the owner is not willing to do. So have fun with yours, think 16' or 17' inch wheels with 45 or 50 series tires and you will be on your way.

Welcome to the world of the most unappreciated car in existence! The fun part is that you know how really great they are and those who don't know are missing out on a great driving experience! Take your time and you'll have a really nice ride there.
