MinnGreenGT: I like that...alot

What is the point of this?

I love Firebirds so I cant help but kinda like the way this looks but a Fiero's not a Firebird and I dont understand why you would put a forward facing scoop on a Fiero. The only purpose of a scoop on the Fiero is to vent the area for better cooling so I just dont get the point of this.

LT-5Fiero,
I built my hood by making a model from clay and developing a mold. Then laying in about 3 layers of mesh and fiberglas and bonding it to my hood with SMC.

Hugh,
Here's a couple a pics. One shows the back end on which I built a Twin Snorkel outlet for the V8.

I need quite a few MGD's for those bugeye headlights to grow on me!!!

Just wanted to acknowledge the other hood modifications, shows some nice creative thinking, and execution. I'm still thinking about what I want to do with my hood, and just bought a spare to play with. Actually thinking about the hood and decklid to have a 'matching' type scheme including some carbon fiber inlayes to set it off. Goals are functional and cosmetic to blend into the aero theme of the car.

I have 1985 Trans Am vents on my Coupe

Added them for pure functional reasons, because my car was overheating in the Hot Southeast Texas summers.

They might look better smoothed in, but haven't found time for that.

I like the look of the forward facing scoops. You guys need to remember that just about 99% of all cars coming out of Detroit with hood scoops have fake hood scoops. It's just a look ! For example all but the Ram Air GTO's and Firebirds from the 60's and early seventys. Most all of the Mustangs, Torinos, Challengers, Chargers and Cudas, AMX's, Tran Ams, Camaros, Chevelles, etc, had FAKE hood scoops .... once again just a LOOK ! ... One that I like. :-)

Yeeeeaaah,

I've been busy swapping a steering wheel, and a radio, all 4 speakers, a subwoofer carpet, trim, seats, console, door panels, gauges, headliner, sunvisor, seatbelts, the little cover over the third brakelight, oh and a dashboard. Nothing too much.

Cal Kid,
On the subject of carbon fiber, what bulk shapes can it be acquired in? Whats the best bonding material for using it on SMC? It seems that c.f. would open up endless possibilities in form and function. See if you agree on a scale of 1-10. Cost-3, Lt. Weight-9, Strength-9, Durabilty-9, Finishing/Paint-9.

I've seen the Trans Am scoops before, but I've always thought that swapping the sides and making the edges sort of line up with the headlights would be better. Making a 'V' in the center with the vents facing rear of course. Gary's customs in Newport News used to sell a Ford turbo thunderbird scoop kit which I thought would look cool. The neat thing is our application is for venting air, not forcing air! Otherwise I'd go for Jon's (rokcrawl) JL extractor look, or drop some NACA style ducts in the top; http://www.up22.com/scoopw3.htm
$20 each.

Anyone have he one from the Fieroshop CA? http://www.fieroshop.net/

I recall seeing a GT back in the early to mid nintes at a FOCOA national event that had the KnightRider light bar built into the front fascia... looked pretty cool (just keep in mind that it's illegal to have red flashing lights on the front of your car).

here's your light! http://www.jcwhitney.com/productnoitem.jhtml?CATID=58912&BQ=jcw2

Or you can get it from the master of Knight replicas for about 10X as much
http://www.markscustomkits.com/Exterior.html

He is right though, it's not a JC Whitney light bar modified, as the dimensions are different, to be "more exact" with the true KITT. Plus it looks like Mark's is already built, just ready to mount, whereas JCWhitney's requires some building.

I will take pics of mine still in progress. It is not finished yet by any means. All hand made and currently in several different colors. It still needs touch ups, sanding and painting and grills mounted from inside.

Will edit and post in a little bit.

Here they are... Pics were taken at night so they are not very good, but you get the idea of it:
