I just bought the "Back to the Future" DVD and it's cool to see the Fiero Prototype.
I also managed to find a picture I took on the backlot at Universal back in 91, and unfortunately I didn't see the Fiero prototype, but I did see some of the other cars from the film.

That Ferrari in the right side of this picture might be a Mera...Who knows!

I kind of doubt that universal bought the prototype, it was probably lent to them, and went to the crusher when pontiac got it back. That thing would be worth a crapload now.

I'll never understand the bean counter mentality at GM. I'm sure they wrote off those prototypes back in 1988 and therefore had to crush them. If they had held on to all of them they would be worth a fortune. At least there is one that we know of that still exists.

No it didn't goto the crusher, according to those that know....there was just the one proto-type built and that was by the guys at GM when they knew the program was cancelled, they rushed to get the car built before the GM exec.s could stop it.. then the car was apparently painted red once they deceided to keep it and from someone that can make it be seen who told me.."those cars(refering to prototypes) are built to be seen", and is working with me to make it "seen" this summer. some body has a good eye to spot the 90 in that film..
"edited" Well I don't know about the proto-type coupes and the other GT that are mentioned but that is what was told to us by Wes at the Mich show.. "they built one GT before the project was shut down, Now that may have been a "complete" car and the others were just models. I know the red one is Driveable.. Don't know about the gray one in all the other pics on the net..

If there was just one prototype built than hows that explain the 89/90 coupe, forumla and GT in the picture in the pontiac storage yard from a few years back that were later all crushed?
I cant believe i missed that, when i got the DVD trilogy i watched BTTF2 twice looking for Fieros and didnt see one, i noticed that red car but i didnt notice the 89 behind it!
ITS ALSO more clearly shown a few second after he hooks onto the jeep, he first looks back and it shows the 3 gang members on there hoverbords and you get a clear shot of the red car and the 89/90 Fiero. still hard to tell if the red car is a modded fiero though, its possible. Ah the power of pause step and zoom!
although the 89/90 is in the screw-up scene, he pases the same cars on the street 2 or 3 times (the bettle re modded corvette thing, big ugly bulky silver car and such) ------------------

The (as you put it :-) )"big ugly bulky silver car" is the Star Car from "The Last StarFighter". It was an awesome design in it's time (1984) and is built off a volkeswagon chassis.
The Fiero in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a white 85 SE because 1) Speaker holes in headrest (84-85), 2)SE is printed on the sail panels, and 3)The decklid is solid white (no vent in the back that is found on the 84 models).
I thought taht car looked like the '89 Fiero a few months ago, but I figured I was just seeing what I wanted to see I mean what are the odds?!

"Oslo", That was a good concept find by Kameo Kid but that car is the rare 1967 Chevrolet Astro 1 concept which could not have been in the movie. It mades its first appearance at the New York Auto Show. Its powered by a 2.9 rear mounted corvair engine. as posted above the car shown in the movie is a Banshee. The 80's were a special time for pontiac and concept cars. they had so many great looking concepts like the stinger, banshee, pursuit, fiero, and the sunfire. it's unfortunate that from a beautiful concept like the stinger spawned the puke-mobile aztek. when I was a kid, sci fi writers promised us flying cars, where are all the dang flying cars? Thank God for the Ford GT!!!
