Hey, its now time for me to throw on my side scoops. The ones from Pat that replace the sail panel windows. I am wondering if you can let me know how you did yours. I want to smooth them in, I hate that little ridge. I tried at first some 3m double sided adhesive tape, but they didnt hold at all. Then I tried some silicone, and same thing. The silicone was a stupid idea. In retrospect I have no idea why I tried it. So I ended up just putting in pop rivets. I dont want to keep the rivets in there though. To fill over top the rivets with fiberglass bondo is a pain.

So I went and bought some fiberglass bondo, and I was going to just fiberglass over them. hoping that would keep them in there, but then I thought, what about shifting of the car. Would that crack the fiberglass bondo around the scoops? Should I attach them somehow first, and then cover with the bondo? I am not very good at shaping, so I dont want to have to use a lot to cover something like rivet heads, or screws.

Let me know what you did, and what you think I should do.

Thanks man
Jamie Kembel

Jamie...

Hey what I did was used Fiberglass re-enforced bondo-glass to bond them to the rear clip... There is not very much flexing between the scoop and the clip tiself since it is going to be glassed ALL the way around.
Agetr it was bonded to the rear clip, I used flexable body filler to smooth it 'almost' wear I wanted it. I left some room for the layer's of fiberglassed to be laid. I then laid 3 layer's of fiberglass with the top layer being finishing glass... Sanded, filled, sanded, sanded, sanded, and then finished up by doing a little more sanding...lol Don't use pop-rivet's or screw's please...
