I think there is enough data here to make a CAD Model of these panels and then actually make a body kit, I was informed by a friend of mine who works at GM that the car pictured is indeed a fiero (88 derived chassis in fact) it has the same wheel base as the 88 so with that as soon as someone e-mails me the track and wheelbase data will work on the files, BTW anyone willing to donate funds toward this cause e-mail me at FieroGTU@ptd.net If it works out I will probably offer the body as a kit. Please E-mail me with some feedback, I think it would be cool to have an 89 Fiero, anyone else think so? Nate

Wheel base is the same, 84-88.
It was noted that this particular car was built on a 84 chassis, but I believe ( for several reasons)it is built on a 88.
Wow! I missed this thread when it came around because I was on vacation.
Even though the 1990 get critisized for looking too much like a firebird, I don't think that's a bad thing. As a former owner of two 'birds I like the way they look.
If 1990 had been the last year of the Fiero I bet there would be a lot of us driving and collecting those instead of the 88's.
Well boyz & girlz, I know who owns it and where it is stored.. I'm working on getting this car and some other protype Fieros to the 20th anniversary show in Mich next year and right now I'd have to say that the odds are VERY GOOD, I've talked to the people that can make it happen and their response to the idea was very well taken and they are willing to work with some of us to make it happen, so start making plans on attending the show this otta be good !!

Not sure if anyone knows this, but Ford just recently sold a ton of its old concept cars and one-offs from its storage facility in an auction setting. Not to imply that GM would ever follow suit, but since that thing is still alive (indeed it is the Holy Grail) then one day it might be auctioned off. I know one thing: I WILL be at the 20th Anniversary in MI if the 89 will be there waiting for me.
Thanks Kameo, and even if you *had* taken 200 pictures and 2 hours of film, it wouldn't be enough!

Is this Gm concept taken from the Fiero? 1987 Pontiac Pursuit
In addition to space-age looks, the Pursuit also offered a real look into the future of automotive engineering with the introduction of four-wheel steering, a heads-up display and an integrated child seat. While it is doubtful the styling features of this concept will see the road in such an extreme form anytime soon, many of the more practical aspects of the design are already in wide-scale production.

This styling concept for the Firebird has looks (and presumably sounds) that kill. According to engineers, a Banshee is a fairy-elf who foretells the death of a family member by screams and wails. A 4.0 liter V-8 in this sleek Pontiac motivated an all-fiberglass body and tube frame with a very low center of gravity and flush glass to reduce aerodynamic drag. Some of the styling elements of the production Firebird can be seen, such as the twin low-mounted nostrils and the spade-like nose.

Anybody have more information on the 20th Anniversary show in Michigan? Where & when? Is there information online? Thanks. BTW...great pictures Kameo Kid!
About Ford selling their prototypes, and whether GM will follow...
Ford sold them for only about $3.8M, I thought it would have been more.
I would be tempted to say GM would never follow, because GM never sells their concepts/prototypes, but they just auctioned off a MR Corvette prototype from the 70s last weekend.
~So there is hope.

And there you have it: my favorite automobile of all time. Everything about the 88 Banshee is perfect IMO. It is sexy, muscular, sleek, futuristic, exotic, and (supposedly) fast.
I am always on the look out for this car as well as the 90 Fiero. I have never seen either in person, but I know the Banshee is completely driveable, and has been featured in numerous car shows and a few movies (like Back to the Future II and Demolition Man.)
I think they ended up realizing that the all glass top wasn't a good idea because it bent the light ans made people sick who tried looking through it. I tested the theory when I was in the USAF by looking through the back of the F-15's canopy. It does distort everything to a degree, but I don't know that it would get me sick, or make driving difficult.
This is my all time favorite thread here at Pennocks. Any chance of it being pinned up at the top due to the subject matter?
This is like finding a living, breathing triceratops or utahraptor. I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about the possibilities. I know, I'm disturbed.
all these jetson-esque concepts reminds me of an idea I had years ago..
I want to buy an older Chevy Lumina van and paint it to look like a shuttlecraft from Star Trek... warp engines included you could probably take it to trek conventions and offer rides.. if I was as much of a trekkie as I was when I was younger, I'd probably pay for a ride in something like that! hehe..
Well thanks to permission by Kameo Kid, I posted the pictures on our website. For those who might not be able to see them. http://www.centralfloridafieros.com Go to Fiero of the month to see them. I'll add more Tuesday of all the 89/90 prototypes out there, so send me some if you have any others. webmaster@centralfloridafieros.com

As I mentioned before I AM planning on making a body kit for my other fiero, using a widened 89/90 style, With a little time I can generate a CAD File of that car from the pictures, would anyone be interested in a kit, I was thinking a widebody (IMSA style kit) for those with big engines and tires.....and a stock kit as you see it. If I go with the wide body it will be with the intent of putting 285 tires on the rear and 255s up front heck maybe 300s on the rear. Anyway I also have a concept (My personal concept) for the 200X model year fiero at www.easterndynamics.com

haha, something like that was for sale on ebay a while back. I think it was made out of an old vw bus.
i actually had tears in my eyes when i saw this..... have been workin 70-80 hours a week for some time now, can't believe i almost missed it. IF/WHEN it comes to the 20th anniversary i will find a way to get there. maybe 10000 miles but i will get there. thanks a lot for those pics, they where touching/amazing.

Then I am jealous! What company did you buy it from? did they make it, or where they the distributer? I own a Kris Cutlery Gim (Jian) that I won 1 martial arts tournement with. But I have yet to get a flamberge, due to their cost. But the name is free.
Here is an 89 IMSA widebody car anyone like this, this is what I am going to turn into a body kit E-mail me if you like this Wide Body 89 Fiero GTU FieroGTU@ptd.net
