For the love of Pete! Would someone please use some software to lower this thing? Look at how high the front is! Different colors are nice, but it needs to be LOW!
just in case i for got to tell ya, the passenger side wheels DON'T have centers, but the Driver's DO... they found one inside of the car and wondered where it came from..just thought you might like to know since the driver's side can be blown up to see the difference..

Nice work Kameo. Hopefully now GM decides to display it more, and make it seen. Then our fine craftsmen can replicate it and build the car that should of been, 13 years ago. How hard would it be to build the guage cluster pod? I can see that being a great seller. Ill get right on it

Looks like this was built with an 85 SE, and was a concept Fiero that helped turn the Coupe into what we now know as the GT Fastback. This car has the SE style interior buttons, but different speedo pod. Also looks like a different stereo. Also looks like there is no GT type of Guages above the stereo, looks like a set of Air vents, that were later turned into the GT Gauges we now know. The rear area behind the window that is clear plexi in the 89/90 video, now painted Black, not smoked plexi. This feature might have helped to turn this into the Fastback Gt look. So is this the father of the GT Fastback, or the Son of the GT Fastback. Has anyone contacted Hulki on this one. I have a Brother-in-law who said he took a tour of a GM facility that had a lot of Concept vehicles stored away. I'll ask him if he can get another opportunity at this again, and take me, and a spy camera, along with him. He lives right outside of Pontiac MI. Like to know if those other Fiero concepts are there, ie. the 4 door, and maybe the silver GTA. So who or why did someone put a Firebird GTA badge on the front, but the sign under the tire says Fiero Experimental? The front fenders are wider and they look a lot like the 95 camaro/fbird front fenders w/out the fender being part of the mirror. Does anyone have a pic of a camaro to compare the two? Unfortunatly the Fiero is there with a concept vehicle from 1970, the real low-looking Corvette, it's called the Cirrus(stolen from Crysler, or sold?), so I don't think they are going to produce the Cirrus concept. I think the Fiero is just there for history, not the future, but it does show how well the Fiero still fits in with newer concept cars. I know it's hard for us to believe they will not make this car again, mostly because of the car at the link below, it's so close to what the Fiero would be today if she was still alive. This car is a mid-engine, composite shell and BTW, it's a GM product only sold in Europe. "The lightweight aluminium chassis is bonded to a composite body shell." Read all about this car, and tell me what you think. I want to go to Europe and buy one, ship it back and re-badge it a Fiero. That is my dream! http://www.europe.opel.com/brand_sites/speedster/uk/en/index.html

I think it would be really funny if GM came out with the Fiero and made it like the comeback of the Trans Am in a few years. Everyone would be like man that is one sweet Trans Am, but the idiots don't know but they just bought a 89-90 Fiero with TA Badges. All we have to do is buy it and trade badges. I think if the Fiero came back out it could take over the Trans Am and Camaro era and start a completely different sports car era yet again (maybe a 3.8 Turbo that would be neat), but like everyone is saying the chances of that are slim to none.

Anyone know what engine was suppose to be in the 89-90 Fieros. I thought it was suppose to be the 3.4 DOHC or possibly a 2.9 Turbo. Has anyone ever actually seen the engine compartment or front hood area of a 89-90. I think the next pictures Kameo Kid gets needs to be the engine and hood area as well as underneath and cradle shots (interior too). Why couldn't GM keep making the Fiero. If the Fiero was around today it would have been probably the best selling sports car GM ever made and sent Corvette owners out the door. There is a Corvette in about every household these days, hell there is one upstairs in the garage of my friends house. I like them a lot, but I think their history is causing the loss of many affordable and very unique cars to be trashed in hopes of keeping the Vette alive. They need to send the Vette on vacation and bring the Fiero back and see how it does again, probably never have the Vette in production again. That's all I can think of now. Later.

To answer a few questions I saw in the thread (didn't feel like quoting everyone )
No, it's not a 99+ Grand Am instrument cluster. Sunfire or F-body? Don't know, but the GA speedo sweep from 0 to 120 goes from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, so at 0 mph, the needle is horizontal.
The 89 or 90 was rumoured to be getting a 2.9L Turbo V6. At least there was a prototype for future release. The 3.4TDC wasn't going to be in the 89-90, because that engine didn't come out until '91. Now, it would have most likely been a '91 option, though. Since the 3800SC was also in production at that time, it might have made it's way into the Fiero as well.
I have mixed feelings about the car. I think the outside is the most beautiful design to come out of GM in recent years (and I firmly believe that Toyota breathed a big sigh of relief when GM announced this car's demise). However, the interior is a disappointment (although I've come to expect (IMO) lackluster dashboard designs from GM, which is why I'm not surprised).
Also, I thought the car was supposed to have a clear engine cover. And, wasn't the GTA version supposed to have raised mirrors (a la Ferrari F40)?
I think this particular GTA may be one of the first ones made, then others were modified later with the plexi covered engine bay and wrap around. We need more input on this car from Hulki, has anyone get in touch with him?

Kelley, Thanks for the pics. I had to wipe myself off after seeing those. I am so releived to know that GM has saved that peice of artwork. If a Street Rod show can get a display like that, then all it takes is to contact the right person to get the car to a Fiero show. All that is involved in organizing the 20th anniversary show is whole heartedly attempting to get some prototypes to the event. It would be nice to have the very first and very last Fieros for the show.
The pictures of this car just prove how great the Fiero is and where it was headed before it's early demise.

Well, I'm gonna be shot for this one. But I think the GTA concept is too overwraught and heavy looking. What's the best thing about our Fieros? That they are the best looking affordable mid-engine cars made. The only time the MR2 looked nice is when it copied the Fiero.
Now, I would LOVE to see more of the '89 coupe models. They didn't look so over extended and heavy; but more svelt, rounded and modern. In other words, I would have preferred a "Formula" or "SE-V?" to the "GTA".
Thanks for the pics tho, it must have been wonderful to have seen it. Now if anyone can just find the GTP pace cars, we'll be complete!
WHERE'S the totally cool PONTIAC light up sign in the back? The top model should always have that. Not like that cheap little Sunfire one, but like the '86-'88 GT.

As i write this msg i tell you that i've just spend 1 hour on the DOT reading every word that makes this thread... just wish i could see this car in person. This is an awesome find and that Fiero is a very very nice looking one. To bad GM never told US why they stoped production.
I think that if they were to make a new Fiero it would be dissapointing because it would probably turn all retro and just not have that mojo that our fieros have.
But i mean i'm in AWE here over this car...keep it commin Kameo.

Hey guys... just curious.. have you guys seen those pictures that were taken by the Tourists?
There was some TOUR of people... and apparently they were walking through an OUTDOOR parking lot behind a GM testing ground facility.. the parking lot was jam packed with prototype cars of all sorts... cars as old as 2nd gen f-bodies... all slammed in together.. anyway.. there were at least 2 silver Fieros JUST LIKE THAT.. that I remembered seeing in those pictures. I'll try to find them. They looked fairly similar to this Fiero you guys saw in the car show.
