You won't be lonely! You should contact IwannaIRM at swags33@cableone.net. He and others are traveling I-84 from Washington to I-80 at Salt Lake City and then east from there.
Here's the latest caravan map...

I was just wondering about a schedule for the caravan? I'm planning on picking it up on I-80 near Iowa City so I was just curious if someone is figuring out dates and times for the caravan to be coming through various areas?
Thanks, Dan

My opinion is that it needs to be timed in reverse - that is, to first decide what time to arrive at the destination, then considering how long the final leg will be to come up with where the best stop would be the night before, and the night before that, etc.
Once that is worked out, we can tell people what time to be at a certain place.
I'm arriving on Wednesday, July 16. Briefly, here's my schedule... Tuesday, 07/15: Depart Houston 7 am, arrive Dallas 12 pm, arrive Tulsa 4 pm, arrive St. Louis 10 pm Wednesday, 07/16: Depart St. Louis 9 am, arrive Pontiac 6 pm.
I haven't yet determined what time I'll be in the cities in between those, but that much should help anyone who wants to go a day early with me, Loyde, Blake, George Ryan, etc.

Yes, it does! Are you gonna tag along with the caravan?
hmmm I dunno about that, i'm gonna try my hardest but its gonna be tough cuz I really wanna go but I have no job and not really any money so thats one problem, also im only 15 so i can't really drive there cuz i wont have my full license by then yet, and it would be hard to find someone to wanna come with me, also I dont really know anyone on here too well yet so i dunno about the going with someone thing and also i dont think any other guys from winnipeg are planning on going but if I can possibly get the money and find a good way to get there, i'll definitely be there even if I have to take like a grayhound or somethin but then i wouldn't be with the caravan about how much will this cost all together? in canadian dollars if you know, if not then USD's fine. thanks for any info.

an approximate cost for the hotel and going to the show and all that stuff?
Well, besides the cost of your trip to get there and back, you've got the Marriott Centerpoint hotel which is $89 per night plus tax @ 13%, for a total of $100.57 per night. Going to the car show is free. Entering your car in the show is $20, or $25 if you also want a dash plaque & goody bag, or $30 if you also want a T-shirt, or $60 if you also want a banquet ticket. The racing events aren't set on the registration costs yet, but that's coming within about a week. I believe the spectator cost is $5 for Waterford, I'm not sure about Milan, but the autocross will probably be free for spectators - they usually are. Big Buck Steakhouse has a menu in their website, see the link in the first post of this topic. Except for the banquet, I have no idea how much your other meals would cost you. I saw prices on the activities at C.J. Barrymore's, but can't remember where it is. I'll try to get that for you. Otherwise, bring spending money for some neat 20th anniversary commemorative merchandise and great stuff from the vendors.
Does that help?

yes, thank you, that helps a lot. is there a way I can not enter a car in the show but still buy a t-shirt and a banquet ticket? cuz my car really isn't in show condition or anything but i still want to see the speakers and such. thanks again.

Definitely. T-shirts are $15 and banquet tickets are $30. Reserve your banquet tickets early (by sending in this form... http://www.cfogi.org/anniversary/registration.html) because there's a limit to how many can be seated. Just fill in the parts that say "Extra banquet tickets" and "Extra T-shirts".
Even if you pay with the Paypal button, you still need to print & send in the form.

Anyone else going to arrrive Wednesday night? Where are you all staying Wednesday night before the Waterford event? - hopefully that is still going to happen! The Marriot wants $189 for Wed nite and $89 for each of the rest of the nites. I refused to pay $100 more for one night.

ok well as of now i'm not coming. I really really want to but my dad is willing to take me, but the problem is that for some stupid reason for something that happened like over 10 years ago he's not allowed in the U.S. in the next few days he's gonna try to find out if theres any way they'll let him in. if he finds a way i'm most likely comin, if he cant get in then im most likely not coming since i doubt i can get enough money for myself to go by that time. so if anyone on here can maybe help him be able to get accross the border legally it would be greatly appreciated. well he's gonna get back to me on it this weekend and i'll post an update then.

I live very close to ground zero near Pontiac. There are dozens of hotels/motels within easy driving distance if the Marriott is too expensive. Shop around.

For everyone who finds the main hotel a little too steep, we are going to have some alternative info available for you very soon, we'll let you know when it's ready.
wpgfiero.... if it was 10 years ago, your dad will prob be allowed back in the US, he needs to request a pardon, it has happened to around 600,000 Canadians, if they get caught with a joint, driving offenses, bang criminal record, I have one but have gone back to the US and oversea's many times, now if your dad knocked off a bunch of banks maybe he shouldn't go back ;-) (kidding), regardless it's probably something minor that can be fixed up with a letter here is more info Pardon Info
ok, thanks man, i'll see if that works, I know it was at least seven years ago, it was just something like him trying to send stuff to me and my bro when they were divorced and he wasnt supposed to or something stupid like that, well thanks for the link, I hope to see everyone there! hopefully

Is there a commitment or anything with the Marriott regarding how many rooms need to be filled in order to use their parking lot for the show? If so, has that commitment been met?

The only commitments regarding the hotel are that we paid a big chunk o' money to guarantee a block of rooms (which is why event organizers aren't promoting other hotels, but feel free to do your own research and make your own choices), and we guaranteed a minimum attendance at the banquet. Neither of those are tied into any conditions on the use of the hotel parking lot. But the car show itself is now going to be held Saturday at the GM facility next to the hotel. So the hotel parking lot is open to any coming & going at your convenience.

The Marriott is going to be THE place to stay, I mean I'll be there and if I'm not entertaining enough, I hear breakfast with Boomtastic is worth the price alone

I don't know if this has been done or not, but I just sent an email to High Performance Pontiac regarding the big event.
This is what I sent. Let's see what happens.
quote
Dear Mr. DeMauro,
I am a subscriber to HPP and enjoy the monthly publication. I have been a Poncho owner for several years and my particular addiction is the Fiero, and if HPP does not already know, I would like to inform HPP of an upcoming event centered around the Fiero.
Come July 17-20 2003 in Pontiac, Michigan there will be a fiesta regarding the 20th anniversary since the introduction of the Fiero.
Granted the Fiero is often overlooked, but being that it is a Poncho and an big event is schedule, I am hoping, desiring, ernestly anticipating some coverage in HPP.
Classic Fiero Owners Group International is helping put this all together, with guest speakers, shows, and other sure-to-be-exciting stuff. For more information see this link: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/024572.html and please consider covering this historical event.
Thank you and Best Regards

As we say in the sporting world bang your monkey(referring to media you support) Robert and his MFC clan and Chuck and the CFOGi, and as we all know Kameo Kid have been working their @sses off. I'm simply the gimp who can merely hope to adequately describe this event in words. I've been spending hours nightly just trying to keep up with these guys progress(3am tonight). If your subscribing to any car mag, let em know as a paying customer you want coverage. The 20th team will be coming out with Press Releases shortly to the Media. The fact these guys have managed to get GM worked up about this is astounding.
Best not miss this unless you can wait till 2033 for the 50th.
... Dells Run 2003... I think that some people who attend one show may not attend the other because they are so close geographically and chronologically.
Isn't Dells May 29 to June 1? The survey we took last year showed that people definitely want to have this in the summer, and we tried to find the time which would be the least troublesome to other events.
Btw, is your WS6 T/A a convertible? Just curious.

My understanding (and I invite the MFC guys to correct me if I'm wrong) is besides the normal patrols of local authorities, we also have people keeping a close watch on things. As you know, something this big isn't done without a lot of volunteer work, and I was told Arizona Fieros is helping with what we call "additional security".

It's a hard-top (with T-Tops). Although 'verts are cool, the hard-top looks WAY better, plus the T-Tops give 80% of the feel of a convertible without any of the drawbacks. So do you have a WS6 too?

Well, me and Rie talked about coming.. Sounds fun and all. The long drive doesn't bother me as bad as it does her. We just did it from the Southern US a few months back... But I just don't want to put 5000+ miles on my car!
Maybe we'll think about it if we can fly in.

Well he looked at the site, and thanks again for the link, but I dont think thats gonna get him into the U.S. for the 20th Anniversary as it says that it takes about 2 years to process, and the 20th Anniversary is in what like 4 months? But thanks for your help anyway, I think we're going to have to like phone the RCMP or something and see if they can tell us if he's allowed or not, because apparently the "incident" happened 11 or 12 years ago. So my mom thinks that he's probably allowed in the U.S. again by now. If anyone knows who I could contact to find out if he's allowed accross the border or not your help is greatly appreciated. As it is right now I won't be at the 20th because my dad cannot come, the ONLY way I'll be there is if he's allowed there too, it's the ONLY way because i'm only 15 so even if I could find a job now and save up enough money to go, my mom doesn't want me to go alone so if you can help with a number of someone to call or anything like that it will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Chris.

Looks like that US Waiver thing is what you need but you'd have to get started on it. It says that a Canadian Pardon is not recognized by the US anyway.
It says as long as the offense if over 5 years old you can probably get it. Also, can be had in as little as 3 months. There is a link on that page you listed earlier.

Well I've sent them an email explaining the situation and asking if there's a way that they could get a pardon sooner. I doubt it though, because the site says that it can be processed in less than four months if it's an emergency. And I doubt that they would consider a car show thing an emergency. But if they reply I'll let you all know what they say. Thanks for all your help.
