There are dozens of Fiero clubs, Fiero-related vendors, Fiero enthusiast websites, etc.
In the interest of making the 20th the "Mother of all Fiero shows," I think it would be a good idea to send each of the links on that page an official e-mail from CFOGI alerting them about the 20th.
Not only should the e-mail serve to simply inform the recipients about the 20th, but it should also ask that they make a link on their websites back to the 20th's information page. You would also use it to recruit additional sponsors, vendors, etc.
I don't think we should assume that many Fiero people know about the event, and this would be a cost-effective way to get the word out!
Cheever3000, any luck with this?

I think i'm coming!!!!!!! My moms pretty much agreed to come! But I probably wont be coming in a caravan or with my Fiero for that matter. My mom thinks she probably has enough Aeroplan miles to fly us there. But the plan would be to fly to Windsor (closest Canadian city) and then rent a car in Canadian money and drive to Pontiac!!! I really wanted to bring my Fiero, but as long as i'm going i'm happy!!!!
Thanks. Chris.

The Officers and Directors have made a decision that this event is for all Fiero's, and not only for MFC and CFOGi members.
Therefore, we will charge only one rate for our motorsports events - member or not! Check it out at www.cfogi.org.
Also, we have to pay both the track fee and the insurance (shudder) in advance. So sadly, we will need to register in advance also. But if there are special circumstances, please e-mail me personally at gryan3@mindspring.com.

Can someone tell me where the registration form for the banquet is? I'm not entering a car in the show but would still like to see the banquet and maybe get a t-shirt and whatnot. Also, do you know if there are any rooms in the Marriott still available? If not I guess we'll have to find another hotel. Oh and does anyone know how far Pontiac is from Detroit? if there's no rooms left in the Marriott we might just stay in Detroit and drive out if it's really close.
Thanks for your help. Chris.

Last I heard there are still a good number of rooms available at the Marriott.
To get the banquet tickets without entering the car show, fill out & submit the registration form (explain what you're doing in the comments section)... http://www.cfogi.org/registration.htm
Then click the Paypal payment button and you'll get a list. The bottom three selections are for getting banquet tickets, t-shirts and dash plaques separately from entering the car show.
Hmm... I just walked through the process, and it appears you may have to do it again for each of those items rather than all at once. I'll ask if that can be improved.

Will that work if I don't plan on paying through Paypal?
For sending a check or m.o. use the address which is at the top of the registration page... Michigan Fiero Club C/O Robert Holtz 4058 Oak Road, Leslie, MI. 49251-9437

Is there a list of those that have registered / paid anywhere? Or should we have gotten an email about it? I can't remember specifically getting one saying that I've paid, but it's possible.. Just want to make sure I'm all set before I get there! I've already rented a room and everything, can't wait!

I am definitely gonna enter the exhaust competition, even if I don't know the requirements. But I think they should split it up into several classes, muffler, no muffler, etc.
I am sure mine will be one of the loudest, just not sure if that is actually one of the criteria it will be judged on.

Gerald, I'm glad your coming, bcz I am gonna pick your brains crazy over suspension set-ups. There seems to be quite a few coming from CA. Glad to see it! That is a HUGE distance to travel for a show. Though my trip from Texas is not slouching either.
Are you gonna try and do the Waterford Raceway activity?

California folks: maybe we should think about a caravan? I think there was talk about N. Cal. people meeting up with S. Cal. and Northwest people near Salt Lake City. I don't know what kind of time frame people have in mind for driving, but I figure around 4 or 5 days, at 500-600 miles a day is a good pace without killing ourselves. What do you guys think?

What's the current status of the banquet? Are there still lots of seats available, or is it getting close to full?
I've been putting off registering because I'm not sure if I'll have my Fiero there (street class) or not. However, I don't want to miss out on the banquet.
Also trying to round up a guest for the banquet, which would necessitate another ticket. I didn't see the "extra banquet ticket" option on the registration page--is that still an option?

Hmmm, you're right, it's not shown on http://www.cfogi.org/registration.htm , but it's on the Paypal screen. Banquet seats are $30. Last I heard there it's not yet close to being sold out. We have arrangements for rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott across the street, in the event the Marriott Centerpoint block fills up. It's not filled yet, but getting close. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but will probably get the latest this weekend.

Cheever3000- Sunday could use some more activates in my opinion. I'm driving all the way from California and do not plan to start the return trip until Monday AM. Would be nice to be able to have other choices of things to do other then the poker run. Maybe if I knew more about the poker run I would not feel this way.
We have an autocross here at Castle Air Force Base the weekend before the 20th, and I would like to run that also. So I am planning on leaving Monday morning and driving there either straight through, or maybe one night stop, depending on how we are doing. (We will have either two or three drivers) And no, I do not blame anyone else for not wanting to do it that way. We will probably pass the rest of you in the middle of the night Tuesday.
I plan on entering all of the events, and there is supposed to be an autocross that Sunday, if they can get the arrangements made.
If not, the local SCCA in that area is having an autocross (tentative so far) at Ypsilanti that Sunday, about 50 miles away. If the 20th is unable to schedule one, I plan on trying to enter the SCCA one. I understand it is limited to 200 entries, and requires pre-registration about a month prior to the event.
I would suggest that if the organizers are unable to come up with an autocross of our own, they should try to make special arrangements for us to enter the SCCA one, maybe they could raise the limit of entries and/or change the pre-registration slightly.
I really look forward to seeing how other Fieros of all types are doing at an autocross, since I feel it incorporates nearly all of the performance attributes we all strive to improve on our cars. It would be a perfect cap to a week of celebrating the Fiero.

When the info gets updated on this page about the extra banquet tickets price, could there also be an explanation added as to how much info we need to mail to Robert Holtz? Do we need to print out this form after submitting it? Do we need to snail mail anything if we have paypal?
I think it would be useful to have these things explained right on the registration page.

Ok folks, I just called the Marriott Centerpoint. They said for July 16 the block of rooms reserved for us is already full. There are still rooms available for that day but not under our group. I wasn't able to comfirm the availability of remaining rooms that we didn't block. I'll call on Monday and talk to in house reservations. In other words, if you want to stay there, call now!!!

So my question is: how can we raise the awareness level to the majority of Fiero owners out there who have no clue about this (excellent) website or who do not happen to be tied in to some club?
Just a thought but what about posting info at your local car parts store or auto shop, and talk it up to those folks, leaving flyers at the grocery store - fiero people eat too. Common places- the library, gas stations, restaurants - including fast food joints, the local walmart.
I hear ya Doug! Okay, the exhaust competition is basically as follows:
Cars will be brought to a staging area where a DB meter will be placed at the rear of the car. It will be at a predetermined distance from the back of the Fiero, and in the same position for each car to level the playing field (so to speak). When given the signal, the driver gets 2 or 3 chances to rev the engine and achieve the loudest possible decibel reading possible. Results are tallied up and prizes awarded. I know that loudest gets a prize - I'm not sure if we are doing the quietest as well or not ..
Hope this helps!

I'm cheap and on a budget (have to be, I own a race car) so I want to minimize expenses. Are there any campgrounds anywhere close to there? If I could save $75 a night on lodging then I could drink more beer and buy more goodies. :-)
I have decided to do the camping thing myself.... Have you or anyone decided which camping ground is the best and closest and still allow's a few(haha) beer's and a big bon-fire??

Chuck, I'm a little late getting pre-registered, maily because I wasn't totally sure if I was going. But the plans are set, and I'm ready to sign up. I'll have to pay with a money order or check. If I send it this week, and it didn't get there by the deadline on the 15th, what happens? Also, should I submit my registration online, and print one out and send it with my payment? If not, what else should I include with payment?
Oh yeah, are there any banquet tickets left?
One more thing If I'm not sure which class my Fiero is suppose to be in, what should I do?

That'll work. We're not going to get nit-picky.

I would suggest sending the printed form with payment, although you could submit the form and say in the comments box that you're sending a check. Nothing else would need to be included with the payment.

I'm sure there are, but the numbers will be known later tonight.

No problem. If this doesn't help you... http://www.cfogi.org/classes.htm , then just say "not sure of class" on the registration. Your class can be determined at the show. Knowing in advance how many cars are in which classes helps us get trophies ready, and keeps us from having to class ALL the cars that day, but we're prepared to make some classification decisions last-minute.

Who is going to do the Camping thing up there..?? Where are you planning on setting up your tent's..?? I am just wondering..that way everyone that's going to camp can do it at the same place and have a good time being together!!
Thanks! I think that answered my questions. I'll try to get payment sent out tomorrow, and register, also.
One more thing. (yeah, I know) I clicked on the link to CJBarrymore, and the link didn't work. Just wanted to know prices and stuff on the golf, go-karts, etc.
Ok, nevermind about that. The link works now
