I guess I should put these pics here too as this is the thread that Cliff has tagged to for the official announcement in the "Event Information" thread at the top of the page.
I sent them an e-mail last week just telling them what was going on and what I was trying to do. As Bridgestone/Firestone is the official tire supplier to the Indy 500 I thought they might think it was kinda cool to see an Indy pace car pace a Nascar race.
I had been led to believe that these were going to be white lettered as that is the way I had seen them. But when I contacted the guy back at Firestone, he said that the tires being black wall only would be correct as I had said that I wanted my Indy Fiero to look as close as possible to the one that paced in '84. Sure enough, I went and looked at the pics of the original Indy Fiero again and the tires were not white lettered. Even the mounting and balancing was covered as when we went to pick them up they said everything was covered. But we passed on getting the mounting and balancing done at that place (not that I am saying they do bad work as I just don't know), but I have only one place that I thave come to trust that does that over the years. City Tire in West Lebanon NH. Those guys rock! I don't want to take any chances on my new shiny surprise rims that are on the way to get scratched or damaged in anyway.
Pretty cool huh?

Steve sent me a picture of his car last night with my scoop on it and I noticed something very interesting ........... His car is starting to look very much like the "real" Indy car. I now know what he added to the car, but if I told you well....I would have to kill you
I think Steve wants to keep it a secret for right now.
Steve good job on the Indy and god luck tomorrow. I hope and pray the rain holds off for you.

Well, the weather is just NOT cooporating today. Claremont speedway has announced that by noon time today on their web site they will announce if the race has been cancelled due to bad weather. If you want you can keep an eye on their web site for the announcement: http://www.claremontspeedway.com
I will also try and keep everyone updated as the day unfolds. They have said that if the race gets canceled, they will move the qualifying race to a day down the road and do a one night all qualifying race or something to make up for the lost night. Next week they have said I can pace if I want but it won't be the big boys on the track, so I will have to see how things go.
Stupid rain!
The Memorial Day Parade that the city of Lebanon asked me to "pace" if you will with the Indy is Monday, so we still have a shot at that at least for the holiday weekend. Even Monday though is looking wet
Hey Steve, I see you have time to post here but you can't take care of club obligations. You are SUPPOSED to be one of our Activities Directors, but you don't even bother to answer emails. What gives?? I can't put on a show by myself! You were the one who fought so hard to get the show going. How about some replies, not to mention your other obligations....

???? I have answered all the e-mails that I received that needed replying to. The NEFA show is coming along well, though I will admit I have not been as involved as I would have liked with preparing for the race and all. For that I opologize.

Have you thought of painting the molding white like the original?
Nothing will be done to this Indy to permanently change it from stock. However, I will let you in on a little secret. Come real close now as I have to whisper.... are you real close? Psss pssss pssss (in a wispering voice) there are other ways to cover the trim that allows you to easily change it back
Heh, heh

He has look alikes to the wheels that were on the Original Pace car. Those wheels were actually covers. The Actual Indy wheels look simialr to the covers but have larger holes.

We just filmed the Indy with ALL the new features now on the car and I made a short quicktime film of it with titles and music. I can't seem to send it to anyone though as the file is too big for them and it bounces back It is 5.3 MB.
If I can send this to someone who can then host it we could then have people go and see the Indy cruising with the "new" look.
