Who's interested in going to a drive-in theatre July 17 and/or 18?
40 miles to the north of the meet is an honest-to-goodness real drive-in theatre called the Miracle Twin. http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/mimira New this year: FM Dolby sound at both screens. Double feature. $6.25 adults, $2.50 5-11, free 0-4. No discounts. Don't know what the movies will be until the week of the show. They can let us in early (8pm) and/or block an area off for us. Sunset/showtime is around 9. Two ways to get there - both easy. I-75 n, M-15 n, I-69 w, Belsay Rd. Or I-75 n, I-475 n, I-69 e, Belsay Rd.

I would go sounds fun as long as they do block of a section for us otherwise our cars are so low we won't be able to see the movie if any othe cars are in front of us.

That really kinda sounds like fun !!! Maybe I should drive my 66 Bonneville instead of my Fiero .... that way we could sneak about 6 of Ya into the show in the trunk !!!

just lay on the hood
anyway i think that would be really cool. There is a drive in theatre a lil ways from me. I always thought it would be cool to buy redo it and have like movies / car shows since it is big enough.

Hmmm sounds like a plan, just make sure they don't ut us too close. The tint ontop of the front windshield give the movies a bluish look. Been there done that, sat outside of the car to watch the movie.

Not sure where the Woodward cruise is going on Thursdat night, but that would be a fun place to cruise to and catch a show!!! Cruise starts at 7:30, night time settles in around 8:30-8:45, it's a 40 mile drive....hmmmm sounds like the timing might be right!!
Count me in

I didn't know why you said that, so I checked our web page at http://www.cfogi.org/schedule.htm and it is wrong. The correct times for the dinner are 7:00 to 8:30, and the Woodward cruise starts at 8:30. I asked our webmaster to make the correction. Sorry for any inconvenience.

With the cruise starting at 8:30, the good chance of more cruisers and chatting with them and the responses from others in this thread it looks like Friday night for the drive-in is the better night. The big question is how many cars will be going? 30? More? Less?
Looking good so far. I contacted the manager and she'll talk to the owner. It looks like we could get in at 8, an hour before it opens. Lined it up for 30 cars. We'll see how that goes... If we leave the hotel at 7 (maybe a little later) and take I-75/M-15/I-69 at a leasurely pace with the small towns that should give us plenty of time. More to follow as it gets closer...

Sounds like a great idea. I would like to attend but will have to decide which other planned activity to skip. There is a dinner/cruise scheduled for Thursday evening with the Michigan Fiero Club and then mini-golf/go-karting/wall climbing scheduled for Friday evening. But a "real" drive-in show does sound pretty cool. My vote would be for Friday night.

I'm interested...sounds like fun! Keep the information coming. If I can make it, I'd probably need to meet up with everyone there since I won't be at the event until Saturday. Thursday I'd be coming from Mackinaw City, Friday from Ann Arbor.

Those that will be going to C. J. Barrymores will probably be leaving around 6:30 so if you're interested in going to the drive-in stick around the hotel. We should be leaving 7-7:15.

After hosting the track day at Waterford, and helping with Milan, I will be more inclined to watch a movie from the comfort of my car (or Dodge Cummins if the car breaks on course or at the track)rather than go-karting, rockwall climbing, or miniature golf.
Count me in.
This is still being planned, isn't it??

if it's anything like the drive-in here you don't have to worry about other cars blocking the screen, only the really large vans/trucks/suvs. i go all the time here, it's a lot of fun. it sounds like a pretty cool idea, i've never been to a drive-in anywhere else.
Not sure if you have me in the count already yet, but I'm planning on attending. One other idea is if we leave a little earlier is there a drive-in like a Sonic or A&W nearby that we could converge on for a little cruise before the show??
