I had PFF member PontiacSound build me a custom sub box a while ago and he's been wanting pictures of it for a while. So instead of just sending the photos, I'm going to write a full fledged review of my new box!!
On the website he lists a rear center console replacement subwoofer box that is wrapped in black leather. I wanted something a little bit better. This is what I used to have:
It is an 8" Pioneer Diamondback sub. (350 watts max) I needed an upgrade. I told him that I needed a box that matched my interior: Black leather and chrome diamond plate. I also told him that I wanted to show off the chrome flamed grill of my new 10" 1400 watts max Audiobahn subwoofer
So he made me the same box that's on his website, except it has plexiglass sides and a touch of diamond plate on top.
Now, before I show the pictures of the new box I'm going to answer some questions about my interior.
1. All the switches mostly control different lights. 2. Whatever you say..., call it rice. Can't say I care. 3. No, the metal doesn't look ugly. 4. Yes, those are heated, massaging seats. 5. No, it's not a hubcap on my center console. 6. Yes, my interior did cost a lot more money than yours.... 7. Yes, all the guages are functional. 8. And, no, the picture in my sig isn't real...

I will use a rating scale of 1 - 10. 1 being the worst needing improvement, and 10 being the best and I wouldn't change it.
Size: 7: It's HUGE! I probably lost between 5 - 6 inches of elbow room. Lost about 3 inches on each side of shoulder room. Makes for a tight fit, but it just takes some getting used to. Makes shifting in a manual kind of interesting... Not a big deal.
Replacement: 9: It replaces the stock rear center console and the plastic sheath around the shifter bezel. It is a really really nice fit. It sticks up above the shifter bezel about an inch. It's different, but I personally like it.
Weight: 5: It wasn't all too heavy when I took it out of the packaging, but then I put my sub in it. I don't think I've ever sweated that much putting in a peice of interior equipment. It makes putting it in and taking it out a pain. If it could be made lighter at all, I don't know. Probably not.
Appearance: 8: Looks like the leather is being held on with staples. But it was put together very professionally. The leather has a very nice feel to it, and the box is soft to the touch until you lean on it with your elbow The plexiglass sides will be replaced because of the spidering and cracking by the screws. I'll probably just do something thicker. He used this particular siding to make it as flush as possible. Good job.
Sound: 9: It sounds absolutely awesome! The plexiglass sides leaked air and I just had to put a bead of silicone around it to make it tight. It is very tight up front too. As far as I can tell it's totally air tight.
Overall: 8: I would've liked it to be just a little bit skinnier. But I don't think that could be helped... It looks incredible, definnitely has a WOW!!! factor. Sounds awesome! I'll definitely be entering into the next audio competition I come across I highly recommend this product or any other PontiacSound products.
Awesome Chris, looks nice. But Here is my product review responses! LOL
Size- Not my fault, lol. Sub requires some extra airspace, and some other subs I build boxes for require huge amounts of mounting depth, this doesn help with arm room.
Wieght- as for this, I make these things to last a lifetime, the Heavy duty 3/4" MDF isnt a light thing, and some of these subs you guys are using arent light either! but I dont try to save on materials, I want to see these console boxes in Fieros 10 years from now and still looking and sounding as good as the first day installed!
as for the rest, looks like a decent rating for the rest! thanks guys and I am working on the site now to get other vehicles added, anybody have other cars looking for a system? maybe I will add it to my list! thanks agian Chris, hope you enjoy the box!
Looks good. Audiobahn sub? There's most of the weight right there! That sub probably likes about .5+cuft...looks about right Maybe some elbow room could have been found by building the box(airspace) up and over the "shelf" by the window a bit. Just a suggestion...in the middle of "quest for airspace" myself, as I toy with box ideas.
Nice job.. looks quality. I was seriously considering buying a console from PontiacSound, but there is just no way I can sacrifice this much room. Those consoles are absolutley freaking huge.
Nice install though looks good. And your interior didn't cost more than mine Oslo

Is there some way that you can make the console flush or at least no more than about 1/8th inch thick at the shifter bezel? The console looks really tall in a few spots especially near the shifter.
I wish I could say it was a W7. But its a W6. And I believe the W7's are a 10 1/2" sub. I dont think its a practical sub for the center console. And if I could do it again, id probly go with a Brahma. Just a heads up. Its a great sub, but I have better things I could have spent $380 on.
