My opinion is this: make your own decision. There is only one difference and thats the body. You can get what else you want from either model. V6 comes in either (unless you want a 4 cyl fastback). Its really up to you.

The fastbacks are more popular and usually non-fiero owners find them more visually appealing I've found. But it all comes down to what you really like.

That's exactly how it is. Fastbacks were my favorite body too before I bought a Notchback Formula and just fell in love with them. Notchbacks to me now are the best in my opinion. But in all reality any Fiero that is modified I think look fantastic!

I like both and have owned both notch and fastback, you can do so much with either. It really comes down to your personal taste and wwhat you like.

Coke or Pepsi? Your choice. As I always say; if you let other peoples opinions dictate what you drive, buy a Honda.

rare87GT...um yeah, your fiero looks so good. it is my favorite fiero that i have ever seen. it just looks perfect. i have been planning on lowering my fiero for the longest time and have finally found a place to make em' for my 88 formula. i want ed to make it a lil bit lower in the front but was a little skeptical but i have made up my mind. i thought of 2" and 2.25" and to my surprise that is what you did and it looks great. sned me a PM and we can talk, thanks.

Get what YOU like. My opinion is that I prefer Notchbacks. That was not my opinion before I bought my 85 GT.

Sorry I think Notchbacks are the best! The just display the real fiero look, when I think of a fiero, it's a notchback! I think fastbacks look good, but they look a little bit like Japanese cars! But I would buy one though! So far I prefer the formula look!

Here's my take, I loved the fastback's and they brought me to the fiero world. At that time I didn't think I would ever be interested in any thing other than a fastback, but now I find my self wanting an 85GT and a formula for my collection.

Each have their own qualities. I own 2 of each and like them all. To me, the fastback looks sleek and streamlined and the notchback has a more agressive look. I do wish there were euro style tail lights on the notchback though. I can't pick a favorite though..

The weight facter could play a part in your purchase.
Im guessing the notch is lighter but I really have no clue.

To Linenoise,

I have an 85 GT, and no I won't sell it today.

I think the 87 GT is the most beautiful Fiero and that is what I went looking for before I bought the 85.

My 85, however, was referred to me by my mechanic and it is a goody. Unfortunately, if I went for an 87 now in stock form, I'd have to give up go-power to the 85.

Bottom line, beauty is speed baby!

I also entered the Fiero world by the means of a fastback. It looks awesome, smooth lines. But as I got more and more into them, I find myself looking at Formula's even more than the GT's.

I bought a clean notchback because I couldnt find a nice fastback. I dont like the look of the notchback so I changed it to fastback. The fastback is more gracefull IMHO

My first Fiero was an 86 SE with a Aero Package and Wing.

I prefer the look of the Fastback, but dislike the virtual blind spot the factback windows create.

If it is a V6 (or bigger) and a manaul transmission it is OK by me!

Nothing at all really. I bought the 87GT not knowing it was a Canadian car. And I just kept the theme for both my Fastback and Notchback Formula. I think the Formula deserves it more than my 87 now. But its still cool, no one around Wichita has a Fiero. Later.
