Well, I've hardly touched my car since I returned from the 20th anniversary show in Michigan... just been too busy and the weather hasn't exactly been favorable.
I'm not usually one to ask others what others think of my mods, but I'm rather undecided on this. I was sitting at my computer this morning look at a pic of my car pondering whether or not to install the door & fender trim from Aus's Stage2 kit.
I currently just have the 1/4 scoop in, but am still using the stock door & fender trim. I also installed my M3-Style Rocker panels (based on RadRuss's concept). The reason I question it now, is that the M3 rockers change the style of the side of the car, and I'm no longer sure that the Stage2 trim will look correct.
I think that the lines that run from the side of the car, into the front fascia still look very natural as it sits - but the addition of the new trim might loose some of that continuity. If I do keep the stock trim, I'll also bond & blend it into the door skin so it looks more like a solid piece instead of a piece of tacked-on trim.
What do you think? (and yes, there has been a little extra photoshopping done to these pics to make the car appear more-finished).
Rob---Leave the stock door and fender trim. I think it blends in much better that way. It leaves a single "line" from the front fascia through the doors.

Thats what I was going to say also...but the more I look at it the tougher it gets to decide !!

That is a very hard decision. I think if you sit and focus at the at the rocker panels with the aus trim it looks pretty good. But doesn't look right when you stand back and focus on the whole car. Where as the stock trim looks good either way you look at it. So I'd have to say, stay with the stock trim. Matt
I think it looks better with the stock trim. Only because the front fascia lines are higher. If you changed the front fascia to match the aus panels, it would look better.
That lower ground Fx panel makes the chin spoiler look good on your car. I have yet to see a chin spoiler that I liked on a car until now.
Definatly the stock trim. When I saw your car at FieroRama this year I was wondering why you hadn't installed the side trim. The more I looked at it at the show, the more I realized it looked better with stock trim. So I figured you were thinking the same thing. Little did I know that you were just being lazy

LMAO! How accurate of an observation I know that FieroJon in Wisconsin would surely agree (along with everyone else who keeps asking why it's not painted yet... come on, it's only been a year and a half since I started working on it again).
BTW: I updated the photo to reflect Joe's suggestion of "defining" the lines of the front air dam as well!
I have to agree with the stock trim here Minn. If you didn't have a chin spoiler the lines would meet up nice at the front. The way it is now with the skirts and chin, stay stock.

I have to admit that I was hoping you'd see this and share your thoughts It's good to know that I'm not the only "seeing" the difference I was pondering. And yes, I hadn't originally intended on having a chin spoiler or the new rockers - they just kind of "came up" along the way!

This is why I decided not to use the M3 style sides on mine since I like the stage 2 trim. They just don't go together all that well in my opinion. Perhaps some day, I will receive my stage 2 scoops and actually be able to finish my car.
I'm currently installing the Stage 2's on my 87 SE and going with the stock trim. Always thought this looked much better. Anyone out there interested in some Stage 2 door and front fender pieces? Have a Great Day Thanks Gary

Ummm... I haven't spoken to Ron/Yello86 for quite sometime now, so I'm not sure what you've heard (you've got an email) - and I'm planning (with the help of a forum member or two) to have the car painted early next spring (although this may delay the SBC swap slightly, we'll see).
Rob,, JNCOMUTT is referring to some special mods I am doing and have installed. I think he is referring that if you see them, it may give you some more ideas and post pone you getting your project done.

LOL, no... I don't think any more influence will sway the way it is going to be finished - I've got my car pretty well figured out (the last piece to the puzzle will likely be a rear fascia treatment... then on to the number of other projects!)

The car is looking awesome, great job ! I know you don't usually care what people think about your mods, (heck I am the same way), but I would lovvvvvvvvvve to see your car with some more aggressive wheels!!
The ones you have go,...but are kinda tame for those great mods you have going on.
I don't know if you have plans for that, are happy with the current ones, or it is just not in the budget, but I think it would take your car from awesome to awesome +++ !
Just some random thoughts, but like I said anyway,.... fantastic looking fiero !!

Mickey_Moose - the GFX are M3-style rockers... click the words "M3 Style Rocker Scoops" in my original post to take you to a related post
exotise - I do have specific ideas for the wheels, but the main issue is that they need to still be gold to keep the "theme" going. I also really like the "lace" style wheels, but I want to go larger. Unfortunately the only company that still makes 17" "lace" wheels is compomotive, and they're $500 each (custom 3 piece racing wheels, made in UK). I have thought about testing Standard's gold wheels on my GT to see what I think. And as a last, less-expensive resort I've considered looking at something like Konig Imagines with the centers refinished in Gold. But for now my funding is being consumed by the bodywork, need for piant, and stuff for the V8 swap. Thanks for your thoughts!
PR - yeah, it's all just old junk, right! LOL! Oddly enough I had really originally planned an F355 rebody - now I'm glad I passed on that idea (although a F355 kit is still something I'd like to do someday!
Kruzn- What appears to be a "dent" is just an odd reflection. I was trying to figure that one out myself when I was photoshopping the car... still not sure why it's there

Hmmm, very interesting Aus! I don't think I've ever seen (or heard of) those here in the US. Any idea how much they run for the 16" sizes?
Prime used to make a similiar wheel in 16", but they've been discontinued and I've only been able to locate a 16" set in white, which of course could be refinished also.

All right! MinngreenGT just e-mail (or is it PM?) me on PFF so I can send you a check and exchange adreeses. Is that okay with you? Btw, do you have any old IRM front spoiler laying around? I notice you have a different type. And thank you for deciding to use the original Fiero parts.
madcurl - I just sent you an email (the normal kind, not a PM ) with my contact info.
Unfortunately I don't have an IRM air dam. The only place I know for sure that will have them is http://www.fierowarehouse.com - and I'm not sure as to what the production status is of those parts yet.
