I hadn't seen this thread for a *long* time, so I thought I'd see if any progress was made. For some reason the pedal assembly bracket picture isn't working for me...?
So, any progress on the hood project...anything actually mounted on for all to be bedazzled by? I know that'd be a stretch and you'd have probably already told us, but I thought I'd ask.

The pedal assembly picture wasn't working because we have some un-websavy people helping on the website. Yeah, I know. I can't do everything.
No real update on the fiero stuff. If the car was drivable, I'd be more tempted to make stuff for it.
I have a gallon of shell 862 and some TETA waiting for me to pick up from Jersey for a one off CRX hood I'm going to do this weekend. (proof of concept on a large panel)
More nozzles = more gooder. I'm running up to 4 off my single pump now. Might need to step up to dual pumps soon.

I can't believe that I never saw this thread before! The links for the suppliers wass great info - got anymore?!?! When I start working on my Fieros this spring I plan to build a whole set of Fiero panels. The first will be in 'glass to make all the mods I want, and when I have everything just so I planned to replicate it in CF.
I made the mistake of using spray bomb paint on a mold before too! I think I am going to try POR-15 next time. That stuff is pretty reasonable cost-wise and is like a think plastic coating when dry.

Just had a hard couple days of working straight on the formula car and a project for a local racing couple in the GR $2003 challenge(oh and I'll use the mold for my new car too).
I think I'm going to continue this thread on honda-tech guys.

The scoop sits over where the air filter would lie with a short ram intake on the CRX. BUT, if you could put that style scoop on the drivers side, but turned around facing the driver, and a little bit more towards the center, you would have a BIG seller.
The problem with the CRX hood is that it dips IN rather that out in the middle like most others. A popular motor swap is to go DOHC, but, with the 2 cams being wider, they hit the hood. That would be a good trick for more clearance.

I know the basis of why they put the scoop there, just have a hard time believing somebody building a race car would believe that little scoop was going to help them get air into the filter. I honestly don't believe that little scoop will help them at all in the GRM challenge, and it just made the mold that much more work. Again, to each his own...

Actually, that's pretty much all they're running. I ran some reinforcing ribs along the underside but it's just 2 plies of 5.8/oz yd carbon.
That was their request. The person helping me out mentioned that we could solid model it in Pro and then run the shape into mastercam and CNC it pretty easily. The project would have been much much easier without it.
It is designed to direct air to their intercooler which is located underneath the scoop.
GR said that they didn't have to factor the cost of the mold into their $2003 budget.

So, is it just a skin, or is there some underside bracing too? I don't quite get the scoop, was that their request or your recommendation?
That's an odd choice for the GRM $2003, but to each his own.

I'm going to put a "terror" charger on mine right under the scoop.
The problem isn't going to be selling them but making them quick enough.
You can fit a b16a in easily. Check out Hasport for mounts. CR-Vtec is the hot swap though(crv motor with a integra vtec head).

I started this thread not to really make money but because I thought other fiero guys would want some cool stuff for their cars too. I know it sounds bad but I really don't like most of the people on this forum anymore.

Out of curiousity, would you consider making a CRX hood with the bump on the otherside? Also, did you give up on the fiero lid? I'd be interested to see if we could work out a package deal for both the lids..
maybe just wishful thinking??

I'm not doing any more molds until after May so that would be the earliest that I would make another fiero mold but really I'm probably not going to be making more fiero stuff until I have a drivable fiero(I'm not making parts for a non-running car). The next molds I make are going to be for more popular cars (or motorcylces) so I can easily sell them locally. Shipping these things is going to be a b1tch.
Yeah, I can move the scoop to the otherside(even modify the look of it) but it becomes a $1500 part at that point because I'll need to make another mold.
I can do CRX hoods on my existing mold without that scoop.

What that's it! I look through all these pages in anticipation of a carbon deck lid and your giving up? You will find many people interested in the fiero mold, and shipping costs have nothing to do with you anyway, the buyer pays the shipping, regardless of how expensive it is. You said you wanted to make money doing it, and you will, but if you decide not to go through with it, because your car is not driveable, do as you wish. Someone else in the fiero community will pick up where you left off. It's too bad everything looked great!

Just keeping this out of the archives, May isn't too far away! Howard's probably hard at it on the school's formula car, right? I assume that's why you won't be able to work on the molds more until after May.

Just bringin' this badboy to the top, Howard! It's July and I just wanted to check up and see how it's coming.
So....
How's it coming?
I'm in for a decklid and hood when they are in production.
It seems like everything is 'in process' that I want. DKOV's 6 speed HD tranny, these CF pieces...
Will someone take my money, please??

Well, did this project fall into a void? or did you just finish it and not want anyone to know? You should also make a less squared off scoop integrated into the deck lid. kinda like the "street scoop" decklid.
