Well it is built on a derivitive of the 88 chassis, and has the 88 suspension front and back.
Looks like they extended the trunk, which would be a natural evolution givin the chassis design.
The 90 prototype build video shows a tray that was inserted in the dead space between the trunk and the tail lights, this extended trunk was a much better idea!
Great idea of moving the coolant pipes inboard, that would have saved alot of people getting crushed coolant pipes from misplaced jacks and lifts.
It looks like the 90 was farther along in the design stage than previously thought.
ME WANTS!!!!!

Glad you liked them, but like I said, on my ratings bar there is more red, than green, and I'd like the red to go away, and to change all green.

SWEET!! Two questions: 1. what are the two switches in between the pwr window switches. And 2: How come it didn't have the center caps for the wheels on it?..plmk, thanks..jim
The 2 switchs ran the power decklids in back, the left was for the engine decklid, and the right, was trunk decklid. and MY GOD the truck lid weighed 200+ pounds, it couldn't support itself!!! The center caps, I don't know about, it had some sort of prototype rims on it, with a big W in the middle, so it did have caps, but it was too small, and stuff. The convertible also had the same rims.

Ok the first pic looks very simaler a sunbird cluster. What are the 2 switchs were the power mirrours go are? And have they started it up so you can here it purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr? You are all so lucky. Thank you + for the pics.
Read the post up top, the switchs are for the decklids, and the dash pod is from a Trans Am. The badge on the front of the car also says GTA Trans Am, one guy there said they just threw the badge on quickly, to have a badge on it. So the new redesigned pegasus wasn't done probably. Oh a DVD of the 20th coverage, well over 4 hours long is being made, and it'll be less than $10.

EH.... the engine looks VERY similar to the 3.4 TDC that I just shoved into my '86 GT! (and yes, i read all the 3.2 stuff, but you have to admit the similarity!)

that's one happy looking car. the camera loves it!
whoever's bright idea it was to cancel the car's production when it got *this* far must've been on something... something bad...
though I wouldn't mind one of those imported Opels (or Vauxhaull... either one), I don't think it will 'feel' the same... not like handling and stuff, but the fact that those others would be imports doesn't sit right with me.
I just hope they don't ruin the Fiero name by creating a terrible replacement for it using the same name (Malibu comes to mind).
Great pics... are there more?

Or rather the 4th gen Firebird stole the '90 Fiero Cluster!! So those of us putting 4th gen firebird clusters in our cars are just finishing GM's unfinished business.
4th gen firebird for reference:

The 90 Prototype video also shows how they take the standard spaceframe and add onto it to create the extra length in the back. But I agree, this prototype is better than the one in the video.
Well we know the 3.2 never came out.. only in that car. Most likely when it was said and done I believe it would've been the 3.4 DOHC wonder what other motors were going to be in there for sure..
3.2 DOHC is used in the Cadillac CTS

the CTS one is Opel derived and is Rear Wheel Drive, it also shares no appearence similarities to the one in the Fiero. The one in the Fiero seems like it would be similar to the 3.4 TDC

Well people, get busy. Now we saw that the pod is out of a firebird so an updated dash can be made and please somebody try a replication of that freaking rear deck... please?

Also all the smaller guages(fuel, temp, batt, oil) are switched compared to the Trans Am version, also Fiero has 120 speedo vice 150 mph trans am, "i think the fiero could take it!!!!!!"..jim

Ummm.....I may be the only one who will stick his neck out and say it, but I don't like the looks of it. It looks waaay too much like a Firebird (never liked the looks of them). The Firebird shape was quickly dated and this prototype shares a lot of that shape.
No offense, but I prefer the look of the 88 fastback.... it just has more of an exotic shape to it.
Now as far as the other modifications (interior, engine, deck/trunk-lid, etc..) and am impressed and pleased. Wish they would have continued the FIero (duh..)
Sorry to ruin the fun, but that is just my opinion.
