These drawings from an article, from a now defunct magazine called Car Design.

These are from drawings from 1981 & 1982.

The article says the Fiero was first planned to be produced as 1982 1/2 model, but with the new design of the Camaro and Firebird Trans Am, the Fiero was delayed to give the new designs room to debut.

These are John Folden's early renderings of the P car.

( At first glance, I thought this looked like the rear of an early Tempest.)

Kind of interesting they had the fastback drawn up way back then.

That fastback drawing looks really similar to a C4 Vette to me.

What car does this photoshop rendition brings to your mind I think there was a pontiac thah looks just like this I am talking about the long trunk and that little window on the pillar.

Very well could be the proto. Sure looks like they are holding the convertible.
