I was just watching the one chase scene in "The Rock" with Sean Connery and saw a f355 ferarri, well a street car ran into it, crushing it, while the body was being ripped off, I saw the rear fiero frame, and metal fiero door. The car was completely crushed. Unsure if the earlier scenes were the same fiero or if they only built a rebody and crushed the fiero for that one scene. Still upsetting. Why do these dumb movie makers have to crush all of these old cars, including the dumb@ss movie makers who crush all of the old musclecars in these movies, sure it makes a good scene, but they're running so short of these rare machines nowadays. Including the hemicuda that was destroyed in the Phantasm 2 movie. (probably a barracuda for the scene, but still) and yes all of the Phantasm movies have had the (real) Hemicuda as the main car star.

Agreed. I cried when they wrecked that fine old black Charger in the Fast & the Furious. Back when they made the movie Vanishing point, Challengers were almost a dime a dozen. Now there ought to be a law against destroying fine old muscle cars.
Funny I was just watching that my self and thought that it was funny that the whole side of the car came off in one piece (door and all) and I thought something looked familiar under there. Small world

Gone in 60 seconds...they used a Shelby rebody. Not an original however, the reproduce them now for 100grand but with modern technology inside and out. Pretty cool but I'll pass.

They used 2 Fiero F-40 re-bodies. I supplied the bodies to Ray at IFG and his people assembled them for the Movie.
One of the bodies was used on a driving Fiero chassis during the movie. The other one gets crushed by a big "I" beam towards the end of the movie. Look real close at the crushing scene and you can see that the F-40 body was assembled to a wooden framework. During the sceen you can see the 2x4's flying about.
Ray also built those 355's for the Rock movie you're talking about.

2 of the yellow 355 kits are in orlando. I cant remember if it was a Universal Studios or @ Disney World . My wife and I were on the back lot tour and the 2 cars were in a line of many other movie vehicles but the fieros were rolled back to the edge of a pond and the 2nd year we went they were both half covered with water. They will not sale the cars either both were still running when parked but they said they would crush them at some point.

I whent to a place down in Chino CA. called Phantom also known as Warlock. They had pictures of two 355 rebody kits that they said they made for the movie. They did most of the movie with a real 355 and did alot of stunts with a 4 cynder Fiero rebody! They only modified the E-brake to do some of the stunts. One car got smashed and the other made it to the end. They showed me a bunch of pics and even gave some to me. That is there story and I cant verify it, so I just wanted to tell you what they said.
This is a scan of one of the pictures they gave me and I have a picture of the twins but I can't find it. The pictures where taken in front of the Chino facility before the production company took delivery.

They forgot about 1 of the rebodies then , there is atleast 1 at Disney I thought there was 2 but my wife only remembered seeing the one. There was also an article about them in KIT CAR mag when the movie first come out saying the kits were not complete that some of the body lines were actually just black tape. They did say they were from Warlok. Guess the one that made it is the one I seen.

The car that was crashed at the end of Vanishing Point was a '68 Camaro. The engine was removed to make it lighter to two. They used a long rope and one of the 383 Challengers (not the 440) to two it. Without the engine, the camber increased and that coupled with crown in the road kept it on course with it's fate with the two bulldozers and all the explosives loaded into it. As any Mopar freak, they'll confirm the movie lore.
I also have to cry at every '68-70 Charger that was destroyed on the Dukes of Hazzard.
Some radio personality recently spent some of his own bucks to build a Duke's replica only to have it flown through the air for one last thrill. I read it recently in Hot Rod or Car Craft.
Ever see what Challengers, Cuda's and Chargers go for these days. I'm gonna have to sell a kidney to get one.

and here to throw in a Lil Music video tid bits.. Audioslave Used a ton of clips from vanishing point to make their latest Video "Show me how to Live" Don't look for it on normal MTV though.. they refuse to play it due to the accidents and the running the cops off the road.. Bumms
And a few years back KORN Used a 355 kit and I think a F40 kit in a Video.. the 355 didn't make it thought the video since a band member "drove" it off a bridge. You could see the whole body pop off the fiero when it nose dived into the aqua-duct, I can't remember 100% but I think it was a convertible also and the fiero folded into a V
I love being able to spot kits out of the crowd. Its insane to know just how many people out there never even heard of a kitcar or rebody! L8
------------------ Who ever said working on Fieros wasn't any fun?? They must not of had a rebody!
