i believe that it's the heat that gets to those motors, they really don't like to get hot. my buddy's beretta cracked the head in between every valve on every cylinder after it got hot. course it got hot cause he had been drivin it with a bad head gasket for about 10,000 miles using just engine stop leak. but like i said, i never had a problem with my quad 4. besides, check out mantapart.com, they've got a ton of stuff for the quad 4.

ohhh let me step in. The quad 4 can handle tons of power as fueling used stock block and head on his 600+ hp pulsed cam turbo setup in a calais. The bottom end needs to be changed as the stock compression is 10:1 in an HO version. The problem with heads cracking is overheating, Send your head to get port and polished (only on the exhaust side of an 086 casting) and then send it to get cryo treated. Then install it with a FELPRO brand head gasket and watch the problem free miles add up as you beat the piss out of it. email me with any quad 4 specific problems. P.S. the manual trany mounted on quad 4's is a muncie HM 282, the bellhousing bolt patters may differ however.
