This maybe a dumb question, but other than being used as a model desigantion, does "GT" stand for anything? Grand Touring? Getting Towed? What? Sorry about the Getting Towed thing, that was out of line, just kidding.

I agree with a lot of the people here. The notchie is distinctive looking. And not everyone knows what it is as said by someone previously. The fastback does look more modern I guess- maybe thats the look the old Citations were going for- don't really want mine confused with a Citation if I can help it.

I keep going back and forth as to whether I want to do a fastback conversion. I might keep mine a notchback. But anyway, in general I prefer the fastback style.

Even though notchbacks outnumber fastbacks, why is it that with few exceptions the Fieros with the coolest modifications are all fastbacks?
************************************************************************************* It's probably the styling of a sedan vs. that of the fastback. Compare the early Mustangs that had the 2 dr hardtops/sedans vs the fastback coupes. The aerodynamics look really smooth and flowing. Why not start out with that before begining to modify?

I have both, I like the lines of the notchback more. It seems so much smaller an sportier looking. I do prefer the whole tail light treatment of the fastbacks though. If there was a way to do that on a notchback it would be perfect.

When I first got my notchie I immediatley wanted a fastback when I saw them on this forum. I never ended up doing the conversion and I'm sort of glad because I really like my notchie after I've had it for about half a year. The fastback definetly looks awesome, it just seems that the most well known fieros are fastbacks and I'd rather try to make my notchback the best around.

3rd is the formula (specially with a engine swap, right Standard??)
I would rather drive a GEO than a stock 4cyl notch. Reminds my of when I had a 5.0 GT convt. mustang in the early 90's. I HATED the 4cyl LX. Why buy a "Sports" car when it can't get out of it's own way? Again, didn't like the body. needed the GT package.
Lastly, I am not a fan of anything "stock"..... I understand the desire, but it's just not for me.....I believe 99% of the parts used need to be up graded, and the personal touches give the car the chance to stand out among others.
DON'T SHOOT ME!! Remember , It's just my opinion

I agree. The 'stock"OEM (engine, brakes, suspension, & wheels) is what makes the Fiero a laughing joke among other car groups/writers. However, the body lines are great....notchback or fastback.
hey mobile, did you every get another set of wheels?

Not yet!! Still trying to sell the 19"s in my signature.
I was hoping to buy a set of AXIS 19x8" and 20x9" with 235/35 and 275/30 but I need the cash from my other rims. These with tires are about $3,000.
I'd love to have your open 5 star design. It would show off my 13" rotors.........BUT.......THOSE HRE's ARE NOT CHEAP!!!!!!!!! beautiful choice.

I prefer Notchbacks over Fastbacks for one small reason. I own this Notchback I have to agree when I first heard of Fieros and was wanting to maybe get one, my favorite one was obviously a Fastback and my initially love started with the Great Blue Choptop. Well after seeing them all over and over, the Notchback has definitely grown on me and since my 3800 swap I think I have a new best friend.

Just wait I will have a Notchie that will be just as Nice thought I do like your car alot Ski. I just think that there needs to be a few notchies that should be modified like that. I have some plans for my 88 so watch for Great things to happin with mine.
BTW I have to get me a Bib cause everytime I see A picture of your car I start to drool uncontrollably, Man I wish my Grandfather didnt sell his plane cause It would have been good in a picture with my car. Oh well! and you dont have to worry I have a few ideas that will set my car apart from yours and it will not be a copy..... About the only Ideas that I want to use are the Hood and the Trans Am Scoops on the Front fender.... other then that I have a few other ideas.

I'm more partial to fastbacks. Even though they do look larger, I like it that way. I was never really into that whole small car thing, and the fastback kinda fills the big car look in a small car body.
I like certain notchbacks, too, though. But mostly only when they have a spoiler attached. Otherwise the lines end too abrutply behind the roof for my tastes. Like it was missing something.
