Just like the title states - If you’re running 19" rims, what tire sizes did you go with. I'm looking at tires for the 19X8 rims Elvira bought me but am a little miffed as to what combo to go with. Any help would be appreciated. I do have coilovers all around. The rim offset is a +40
Would a 245/40/19 fit up front without rubbing??
I was looking at: 245/40/19 fronts and 255/45/19's rear in a Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico
or
245/35/19's fronts and 245/40/19's rear in a Goodyear F1 GS-D3 series tire.
Whacha think?
Open for suggestions...
Rob D.

I dont know about 19's, but a friend of mine has 17 x 7 rims, and he has 245's up front. There's still plenty of room. Seems like it would be the same thing with 19's. Cant wait to see them on your car. Should look awesome!
I think he's running 245's all around with no problems. Doesnt have coilovers in the rear or anything. ------------------ James Essar 88 Coupe 3.2L V6 60* V6 Power Baby!

Purple Regien is running 19x8's with 245 35r19's all around with no problem. The 245's are just perfect for a 8 inch rim. 40 series will be to big for the front. Mobil is also running 19x7.5 w/225 35r19's.

With a 8' rim, you don't really have too many choices: 225, 235, 245, and 255. And your limited in the rear due to all (4) rims being the same. However, going with the ones that you have chosen I would chose the first pick 245/40/19F & 255/45/19R. In my opinion: Its not the best but;
245/40/19 fronts and 255/45/19's rear in a Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico My thoughts: The 245/40's are way too big visually & may rub for the front but the 255/45/19R should be (alright). I believe the Burgandy Fastback on PFF sig are 255 rears (17's). BUT A 255/45/19 IS OVER 28.0 IN DIAMETER. Thats taller than my 275/30/20's.
245/35/19's fronts and 245/40/19's rear in a Goodyear F1 GS-D3 series tire. My thoughts: I'd seen 245/35/19F on my Fiero(not 245/40/19) and they look good for fronts but their too wimpy for the rears. Plus you have the IRM kit so a smaller tire will be very noticable between the IRM rear and rear tire. And that big motors is going to spin those small 245 tires. Chester, you should pm Jim88GT and see what he's getting before you buy...you will be surprized.
Personally I would go with a different make of tires...... Toyo's. You may have more choices 235/35/19F or 245/35/19F & 255/35/19R. You can check out Purple Reign's car he has 19's. Call Songman, he has pics (not posted yet) of 245/35/19's before I went to 20's https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/035938.html Sorry for the big write-up, just tring to help.

I would do a 35 series up front. The problem is I don't believe a wider tire on the rear looks better unless you have a wider rim. Otherwise they don't look symetrical. I had 17x7.5" before my 19"s and 215 on front and 245 in rear and it looked horrible. Like "big mud tires in the rear" Purple Reign's 245/35/19 all around is about as big as I'd go in the front, maybe even 235/35/19 up front. a nice fat 255/265/275 would fit and look great on that car, but you'd need a 9" wide wheel.
Just my opinion, but from experiance.

Here you can type in the sizes and see the visual differences beween the two. Also notice the side wall height. This is what Mobile is talking about the tires being "mud like" in the rears. That is why I used 225/35/19 and 275/30/20 the tire side wall are very close on specs and visually. But like Mobile said, you're limited with the rear sizes used.

I personally like the bigger/taller tire in the rear look. That's how my car was with the 17". Also If I go with a 255/45/19 in the rear, it would give me the best contact patch of all the choices which means more traction. Also a 255/45/19 will fit on an 8" rim. They don't make the rims any wider in this style I got or I would have bought them. I might look into a rim widening outfit and have them add 2 inches to the back rims. We'll see. I need something stickier then the Dunlop SP9000's I had. The car would just roast them in first and second. First was actually a total waste. This was being fairly mild on the go pedal. Well I'll poke around some more and contemplate my decision...I just wish they had the Eagle F1's in that size. They seem to be some seriously sticky tires...I'll also checkout the toyos like Madcurl suggested...

Hey Chester, did you PM Jim88GT on what rims he's getting?
Rim widening......Would that process cost you more vs. if you had gotten the sizes you wanted in different style rims? I forgot the pic of the ones you have, are they 2-piece rims? Cutting and Welding rims is a option for rims you can't part with (one of a kind), not ones you just bought. Yeah I know.....getting what you want is sometimes "mind blowing." Its your call.

Working on the pm right now...I don't want a diffrent style rim, I love the one's I got...that's why I'd be willing to have them widened, you know another one of them "one of a kind" touches..

Oh yeah, I forgot one thing Chester. The Toyos are produced in two different types. Toyos Proxes F4 something and the other one Toyo T1 Proxes or something. As you would guess the best one the most expensive one however, it treads (removes) more water in it's path. And he P zero's although very sticky, aren't that great in the rain. We all don't want you to loose this bad puppie of yours.
Did you check-out the tire/rims link that I posted? it gives you a better visual idea of the tires you may want. And please bring that "rat" to Daytona. I'm dieing to see it!

Well after a lot of contemplation, soul searching and checking my wallet, I've finally decided on a tire for the Motegi Roja's Elvira bought me. Since I'm in the market for the stickiest tires I can get aside from a drag radial (which no one has in a 19") I've decided to go with the BFGoodrich GForce T/A KDW-2's. The only drawback for right now is that the tire is only offered in two 19" sizes - 215/35/19 and 235/35/19. I will put 235/35/19's on all 4 corners until third quarter of this year, when BFGoodrich releases there new sizes. I figure by then I'll need a new set of rears anyway. The rear will sport either a 245/35/19 or a 255/35/19 when they get released...I chose this tire because of the excellent dry traction rating / price ratio.
Here is a pic of the tire:
and the rims:

You gonna have those babies on in time for daytona ? You are bringing the rat right ?
Yes, the rims and tires will be on it for the show. I'm trying to get a much done as I can. It won't be painted but oh well. I might just put it in the display class this year and not worry about it...
I just picked up a set of Konig Verdicts 18X7.5 with 45 mil offset. The tires are 245/40/18
I tried them on the car today (87 Notchie), and the rear is right next to the lower spring pearch on the strut with maybe 0.020 clearance. I tooki it out for a spirited drive, and when I got back, I found a 2/32 innch deep grove on the very edge of the tire where the tread rolls over to the side wall. In the front, with a full lock turn and hard acceleration, there was minor rubbing on the inner fender liner.
If I drop down to a 225 or 235 and a 30 or 35 profile, there should be no rubbing.

Chester, nice angled pics. Theres nothing better on a Fiero: Chop'd and deep-dished. For a moment I thought you wasn't comming and maybe I would have to bribe by selling you my 245/35/19's.
I hope Jim88Gt shows-up, then it well be (3) deep-dished chop-tops.......Hmmmm yummy. Chester, did you PM Jim88GT?

Yummmmie........There's nothing better than giant size deep dish rims. Just beautiful. This makes your Fiero meaner and aggressive. It compliments the chop top's stance and not to mention....the V8. Thanks for posting pics before I get off from work.
now change your sig. hehehehhe. Madcurl.

The place he took them to, evidently did more work along the line of farm equipment and not used to being gentle with their rims (not use to working with anything but steel)...
The look the tire guy gave chester was one of "if I scratch these, are you going to kill me? .. I mean, truly kill me?"
Props to the tire guys though.. they took their time and did the job right the first time and the end result is simply amazing.
The pictures just don't do the whole effect justice.

I know no one likes to hear this, but for best handling (At the limit) 225's are prob the widest front tires you would want. Add the widest rears u can fit on a fiero and you will have a sweet handling (Not deadly) Fireo.
But damn do I love that car! Wing could go though :P

Thanks for the compliments guys!! I do have to remove my drop spindles as the tires rub the wheel well in the front. Another + for Elvira! It's nice to have another car to put parts on...
