So is the black trunk carpet rare?
When I was at a yard yesterday getting a new column for my car I noticed this lonely looking 84. It seemed to be in pretty good shape.

I poped the decklid to take a look at the trunk. To my suprise I found that it had completely mint black trunk carpet!
It also had all 6 of the headlight screw trunk plugs in it.

Long story short I got the trunk carpet and plugs for free since I spent 100$ on the steering column I pulled out.

Damn does this stuff look good! Its really one of those little things that makes the back of my fiero look 100 times better with the decklid poped. Not to mention that I have my plugs in the back now too.

So im happy ! Made the fact that I got all wet and muddy walking through a junkyard, not a big deal.

So who here has the black carpet?

Maybe it was just the 84 4 cylinder cars that had it.

Not jealous of your beautiful black trunk carpet. Just poking some fun, all 84's are 4 cylinder cars. I wish I had the black instead of the gray.

I guess by rolling eyes, you know that ALL 84s were 4 cyl ?

Any can be made black ez. Just take a spray bottle, pour in black Ritt Dye, fill rest with hot water, spray. Leave trunk open till its dry.

What yard did you go to? I've never even been to one before but this summer looks like I might make a trip and I need to find one with fieros in it... Also, did you remove the alt/coil blower yourself? Everyone says its useless and I want to get rid of mine and just use some heat shield stuff instead. Got any pictures of the carpet installed?

I believe the odd fit is due to the 84 having a larger trunk than other years.

My 84 Sport Coupe has a black truck carpet, and black chrome looking instrument bezels.

You can see in this pic:

Trunk carpet:

My dads 84 SE does not have the black trunk carpet, but it has an RPO code for deluxe trunk carpet, where my 84 does not, my 86 base coupe has the grey. Black looks far better IMO also.
