Well I went to a local auto parts store and bought some NGK UR5s for my v6 Fiero. Well then I asked for a plug gapper. The guy said they don't need them they are pregapped. I said ok sure then where is the gapper and we'll pull them out and check them. Pulled one out in a dented up box and it was at .30 He said hum must have been messed up somehow. Then I checked the other 3 since four is all they had and they were between .30 and .35 when the gap says .45 on the computer screen there. He was stunned that one I'd wanna do that in the store there and two didn't come pregapped.

So the moral of my story is guys check the gap on your plugs before you put them in your car!!

Last set I got at the local auto parts chain store (Checker / Kragen / Whatever) were perfectly gapped right out of the box. That was a first for me...

Always check the gap on a plug before you install it, even if they say pre-gapped, or do not gap.

All it takes is for someone to drop the box somewhere along the line to knock the gap closed, or knock it out of spec.

Plus the gapper is under a dollar and it only takes a few seconds.
