Did you poly mount just the tranny? Or the Tranny & the Motor?
Just wondering- 'cause I've heard that if you mix-n-match poly, rubber, and solid mount- you can run into some issues (I believe Jimmy did with his V8 car).

Solid on the front engine mount, poly on the 2 tranny mounts. The polly is more to absorb some of the vibration. Standard Archie setup is solid mount on the front with rubber on the tranny.

Well, go out and get a co2 tank if you haven't already. Much better welds. Avoid using an extension cord with it. Aside from that it's pretty straightforward.. plug it in and pull the trigger

That engine is so darn pretty. I could look at it all day. Nice work Chester. Your decklid is going to spend more time up than down. You many want to just leave it off...

Thanks! I'm hoping to fit it under the decklid so I can keep the decklid mirrors.

I didn't. Elvira did it for me. Thanks babe! We used silver POR-15. Was a PITA but the result was pretty good. Plus the por-15 is so slick that keeping it clean should be a breeze.

Thats one mean setup you have there Chester! What kinda times are you expecting/hoping to run when ya take it to the track?
Later, Chris
Thanks! I'll be happy running high 12's - low 13's without the bottle. Mind you I expect to do this loaded with 2500 watts worth of audio equipment, DVD nav etc AND a passenger enjoying a good movie. Hell with the AC on! hehehe All without breaking anything. Boy, I'm not asking for much... That's my idea of a perfect street car. I want the speed AND the goodies

Chester since you live hear me the next time I see you at one of the car shows you'll have to give me a ride in that beast.
Wish I had a warm garage like that to work in when I did mine.
Very nice job!
Thanks!
You might have to make the trip out here. I hope to have it running within the next couple of weeks. At least a rough install. I got to get to work on the engine compartment.
BTW my garage is nothing to boast about. It has more drafts then a ...well you can just imagine . I have a torpedo heater and it’s good for a 3 foot radius around itself. The tarp garage on the other hand should warm up nicely with the heater.

Even if you never get the dang thing going, it's still a sweet lookin' package!! Ought to be a lot of fun, I hope it's as much fun to drive as it is to build.
By the way, Jesel makes belt drives, I believe.

Thanks! I'm hoping its MORE fun to drive then to build. But then the build is fun too. Nothing like being able to say "I DID IT!" at least to me.

You're going to have to budget MONTHLY for rear tyres!
Best! Ben.
PS: I thihnk you can safely go with all-rigid mounting and not loose any vibration damping (once you're part-steel already, there's no more real gain to be had. And you risk running torsion forces all up and back through the whole assembley.)

Heheheh, yeah right don't I wish. Did I say I was doing this on my SPARE TIME? And lately I don't have ANY time to spare! That and having to rewire my garage to accept a 115V 20 amp outlet for the welder has put me behind once again, but never fear...progress is on the horizon. Now, if you want some first hand experience in installing a V8 Archie kit I'm GLADLY accepting volunteers.
Plus the new Xbox isn't helping matters much either. Did I mention Project Gotham rocks?
