What intake is that on you car? It doesn't look like a Holley and I think you have a carb on there. What is the gain with your setup?
Frank
It ia an Edelbrock/GM 10038470 intake, made for the Super Duty head. When I pulled the intake and head off, I discovered that the stock head had been extensively ported, to match the giant ports on the intake. The carb is a #1406 600cfm Edelbrock Performer. The engine has never been running long enough to find out if the carb is well suited to the head/intake combination. That is about to change though, as the new Super Duty head will be installed soon.
Here's some junky webcam pics of the intake:

Here is my days motor: (not currently running (for obvious reasons)
Should be running this weekend or next weekend. This is his 1984 2M4 SE 4-Speed. The engine bay is very clean.
The head had to be replaced because the original one was cracked, and had a cracked valve. The motor is the original 84 one. My dad has port matched and polished the head, intake and exhaust manifolds, the TB, and reseated the valves, just like the 2.5L in my 84.

Did all the 84 4 cyl have the "4Tech" decal ? I don't remember mine having one.
If you notice, it is pointing the wrong way. I picked it up at a junkyard, I never realized that it would point the wrong way. This one is shinier than my original one, I might just repaint it black though.

Indy, will that intake bolt up to a stock Duke type head?
It will bolt up, but, the ports are probably .75" taller than the ones on the stock head, where the flow problem is. To take advantage of this intake you would really need a Super Duty head. My SD4 head I purchased a while ago was just dropped off at Saum Engineering today, where it will recieve $600 worth of valve and bowl work. He's also going to throw in some time on the flow bench for free, to satisfy his curiousity once he's done. Should be pretty cool!

Sorry, just have this nasty hate/hate relationship with my last 3 Iron dukes, between blue smoke, pocadot driveway, and chewed timing gears. The Quad 4 HO (W41 to be) goes in this time.
