Here's pics from yesterday and today that I've been promising!
First up, new rear main seal! Thanks to Reno for letting me in on the "drill two holes in the old seal, thread in some sheet metal screws, then gently pry the old seal out by the screws" trick; the old seal came right out easy. Thats the old one I'm holding and the new one is on the motor just above. 15 minute job, $20 seal, very cheap oil leak insurance I would say.
Here's the engine all ready to reinstall on the cradle. Thanks again to fierobear for the proper clutch alignment tool! The engine DID NOT want to go back on the transmission, but after much coaxing, swearing, and rearranging of the boards and dolly the cradle was sitting on, it went on and all was well.
Next, today, most of the way through. It was very well illustrated for me today the difference between having two Fiero guys who've done it before help you reinstall the cradle and doing it with some buddies from up the street. She put up a good fight, but we won. The cradle, engine, trans, the whole shmear is back in the car. This was before I started reconnecting everything. Note the Upper Plenum sitting in the trunk area. Its all ready to go back on the engine, but the last thing I wanted was to get it all scuffed and scraped up AGAIN, so its all nice and taped up to protect it. Also note the can of Aero Kroil on the floor. That stuff is a gift from the car gods, let me tell you.
Last one. This is as far as I got tonight. She's back on all 4s again, hopefully for a long time. The brake calipers fought me all the way during reinstallation, but I prevailed. I did not, however, resolve the stuck E Brake cable problem. If I can't get that drivers side cable unstuck, I'm gonna hit the Pick N Pull and grab another one and be done with it. I would also like to note that I HATE those stupid Plastic Screw Things that help hold the wheel well lining in. They are nothing but trouble. What I wouldn't give for just a bunch of little bolts.
Left to do tomarrow: Shifter cables Clutch Slave Cylinder Battery Upper Plenum Electrical connecters and such Coolant lines Vacuum lines
I think thats about it. Tomarrow night I should be out taking friends for rides to thank them for all thier help!

that thing is looking good, i found out what was wrong with my buddies 3.4L swap..... it was outta gas, he spent a whole weekend trying to figure out why it wouldnt start, so i brought a compression gauge and fuel pressure gauge, and found it had no pressure, so i put 2 gallons of high test in it, and it started right up, and right after he offered to sell it to me.... so now i have a 86GT 4 speed that i picked up for $500!!! its in about as horrible shape as you could expect from a car thats been sitting in a garage for 2 years though, most of the body is off and ready for paint.

Wow!!! We are nearing attempt # 2 at getting your project running! That "expectant mother" vibe is going on again Bet you never thought you'd be doin the ole in-n-out TWICE! Best of luck, I got my fingers n toes crossed for you (again)
FINITO! NEGOZIO FIERO DI SCOTT is now officially closed! Boy oh boy does she run! The idle is down where it should be, the oil pressure is almost too high, voltage is great, she's running like a champ! Sounds great, too! Just got back from my first offical test drive, wherin I rallied a local twisty road at a high rate of speed, and I LOVE the long, smoothe power curve! I kept it in third most of the time (4 spd manual) and no matter what corners I had to slow down for, it never bogged or lagged, it was always ready to go again. The 2.8, I'd have to wait for it up till 2500 RPMs or more, but the 3.4, all the way down to 2000 RPMs it seems has power and wants to use it! Did I mention how much I LOVE THIS CAR?
Few things left to do, nothing major. Rear Decklid is out of alignment Very small oil leak at the oil pan, right where 1 bolt goes into the block. Nothing a little RVT Sealant can't fix. Desperately needs to be vacuumed Fog lights are pointing in crazy directions E Brake cable still jammed, so no E Brake right now Just little odds and ends like that, no big deal
Pics in a little while. Had to go for a test drive before I uploaded them. Mans gotta keep his priorites straight!

First one is an action shot. Eric was playing with my camera and took a picture randomly while I was reinstalling the A/C lines.
And there it is! All done! This is just after I laid down my last wrench.
Here's one of the engine compartment now. All nice and stock looking, with the exception of the Accel stuff. Like my plenum? All nice a freshly painted and no scuffs and scratches this time!
More in a minute!

First thing it got when I was done working on it was a bath. Here's a pic of it all nice and shiny! By the time I was done with everything, it was getting dark, so the picture came out pretty dark.
Here's one from the front quarter. Notice anything new?
Here it is! I put those V6-H.O. badges one. Finally decided where I liked 'em best.
Well thats it for now. Like I said earlier, still a few little things to do, but for the most part, its done! Glad as I am to have my Fiero back (I missed it), I'm kinda sad the project is over. Well, at least THIS project anyway...

Couple more to add to the list. Its idling around 1100 to 1200 RPMs right now, so I gotta bring that down. Stupid E Brake light won't go off no matter what Having trouble with the back up lights
Thats about it. Other than that, she's running great and very strong. I just can't seem to wipe this grin off my face

kinda looks like me when im working in the trunk of my fiero, My hair is alittle bit darker though, but i always have to loop mine back when im on the creeper, otherwise i have to worry about it getting tangled in the wheels.
thats a picture of me when i was pouring the concrete for my basement..... now my fiero parts storage area... im probably 20lbs heavier or so than you are, im about 190lbs.

Rrrrrr stupid oil pan. Thought I sealed that part up good, but its still leakin. I would guess that with 70-80 psi behind it, the oil will go wherever it can. No big, I'll just seal it some more.

Well, the bad news is it seems I may not have done the Rear Main right, as it appears to be leaking again. Worse yet, if you look back on Page 8, you can see inside the transmission bell housing. If you can tell me how all that stuff got in there past the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate without getting oil on any of those parts, you must know something important that I don't. This frightens me into concluding that the transmission is leaking.
The only good news in this is that its only leaking a little bit. It doesn't leak just sitting there, only after its been run (can we say 'rear main'?) and the oil and whatever else drips off the bottom of the transmission and or the oil pan. If I drive it around, then park it over night, I'll get a spot (Not a puddle) from drips about 4 inches in diamter on the ground. Its not a lot, but it is leaking.
The actual good news is that it runs incredibly. Strong and smoothe. Temp stays down, volts are good, oil pressure is always 65-80psi, no codes or anything. If it didn't leak, the whole thing would be an incredible success. I still say its a sucess, but its a slightly tainted victory.
