Actually, it's a lot like Corvair owners. Maybe it's a GM stepchild mentality, or a commaraderie of fellow owners, but when travelling in my father's 61 Corvair, we'd take a Corvair Society of America roster with us. If we ever had car trouble, we'd just call up the member closest to us for help. Thankfully we never needed it, but many members of CORSA that I'd talked to had... People who'd never met or even heard of one another coming out after dark or in the rain to help a fellow Corvair owner who's stranded.... offering parts, labor, even a place to stay overnight if needed. Somehow, I can't see a Corvette owners group being so generous.
The people I've met both through CORSA and PFF are some of the best I've ever known. (And a few weirdos, too)

Glad you are okay and will be able to get it fixed. Hopefully the last time she will be in the shop for a very long time. Good luck and keep us up to date.
Wow, so very sad to see this. I know how I would feel if it were mine. I know you will end up making it better than before. Still lots of hard work ahead.

Tina, Don't get discouraged by this. After all, you have already dealt with blown clutches, trannies and a multitude of different tasks on the "Curse", what's a bit of bodywork/paint. We already know that it's not in your vocabulary to cut corners so I'm sure the Fiero will be even better than before. Settle down, plan it out and it'lle happen soon enough. You'lle have the "Curse" climbing up your back again before long.

Why do they always take out the cars that you put so much into! Have you ever seen an old beat up car get creamed?
I'm glad you can fix it! It's too nice of a car not to. Good luck getting ready for the dells! It's a good thing you have the skills to put her back together better than she was!

Tina I am courious. How is your car insured? I have mine insured at an assigned value of $15,000. At least if a Saturn takes mine out I will at least get that much.

Thanks again for all the kind words. Tear down is beginning here in about an hour, the frame guy requested to have pretty much all body panels removed and the cooling tube on the driver side. 2 to 3 weeks with him, then off to the body guy the 1st week of May. I am keeping my fingers crossed to make the Dells. The paint shop the car is going to is rather busy though (dealing mainly in Street Rods) and it's the season for everybody to want their car on the road, but was the only one that would even approach a partial repaint on a custom color. We will see.
Tina BTW 1 piece I am still missing is the black triangle piece. I would need one in rather good condition though from a 84 (glass)

We're so sorry to see your misfortune. We know how bad it is with the loss of our own t-top. Luckily yours is salvageable! I have to commend you on your work. It's top notch. I love a woman who likes to wrench and holds her own to any guy! I should know - I married one myself! Rock on! I know it will be as good as new. If there's anything we can do just let us know!

Sorry to hear (see! ) about your loss. I don't know how you restrained yourself. With all of that hard work and time, what do you say? Anyway, glad you are okay.
Already got a donor at the body shop waiting to donate. Door too.
BUT what I really could use is a good 84 style rocker panel, interior side panel (with the speaker hole) and a passenger side skin (87) and the ribbed molding to go with it.
Got any of those, perhaps ?
I have a black 84 that I will be parting out soon, if you need anything e-mail me and I let you know what is available.

Tina, sorry to hear about your brush with bad luck, and I am glad you are ok. There must be something about the first nice days of spring that brings out all the idiots. I almost got hit by three people today just going to the gas station! People just don't seem to be paying attention.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Tina, I'm glad your OK. I hope the car will be fine. I'm not sure what I would have done if it was me, little old lady and all. Anyway I'm proud of you for not losing it on her.

Tina, The main thing is, your OK, cars can be fixed. I'm sure you will have yours back on the road in no time and knowing you, it will be better then new. I'm just thankful you were not hurt, for that would have been the real tragedy. Hope to here your back on the road soon. Bob

I think I can speak for everyone in MN when I say are hearts all sank when we saw this. This car has become an emotional part of MN's soul.
I can honestly say I would not want to be the Saturn driver. For those of you who have never met Tina, Not only is she beautiful, but she is in better shape than women half her age. I'm sure she would leave a large indent in someone's head with a torque wrench!
I'm extremely glad you're alright, but I know how you feel, it's like starting completely over.
I can't wait to see it up and running again!
GOOD LUCK!

Wow, I read this yesterday and I'm just now coming out of shock. I really wish you could just say, Haha, april fools. But I'm glad to hear your ok. For a minute, I thought you said you DID break your leg too. I know I have a set of 1/4 windows from an 84. One was nice, the other looks like it had been melted a little. I'll check to see if the good one is the passenger side. If so, its yours.
and most important, You will be at dells, "curse" or not. You know you'll still have fun.
That musta been one Hell of a bang! The Dog-Leg is already the strongest part of the car and if you had a roll bar in there too you should really could yourself lucky NOT to have that broken leg.
Good luck with the repairs. And beware of old ladies in Saturns.

The roll bar is actually bent. ( Needed to use a come along to compress the thing to get it out) Looking at the indentation on the back board, it moved about an 1/8 inch towards the driver side.
Damage to the frame is visible all the way up to the speaker hole.
Tear in the floor right next to the bottom bolt of the seatbelt.
Damage to side with the panels off. Seems the T's took a hit as well.

But on the flip side ... the heart and soul shows no damage
I was worried when it didn't fire right up, when trying to move it on the flat bed. Just flooded though, but when it did ..oh man ... it started with a mean hiss like on a vengeance for something.
Insurance ... that's still a big mess waiting to be sorted out, Ski.

I was just browsing through the threads, not knowing this thread was created by you, Tina. I am very sorry to here what happened. For the last (2) weeks I'ed feared that my car was gonna be hit or totalled. That's why I have (2) projects just incase something like this happens.
I'm glad to hear that your okay.

Sorry to hear about the wreck, but glad you are okay. Looks like you have a good team of experts to get your car back on the road very soon. Good luck with it.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, and I am glad no one was hurt(physically that is). I live in a town of mostly retirees, and I fear the same thing everytime I put my car on the road. I wish you the best in putting her back together.
Tina, as always.. Best of luck with your new 'project'.. I about died when a guy backed into my 88 and did a lil damage to the rear clip.. I can only imagine the anger that you had when you saw that. I also offer my assitance if you need anything.

Some ... Stripped another Fiero down to the "nitty gritty", (the donor mobile) and delivered it to the frame shop. Collected parts needed, ordered more interior paint and hunted down the guy that did my side scoops in the last days. The car itself made it to the frame shop last week. As of last Friday we were still waiting for the glass guys to remove the rear window from the junker. (I thought I let them practice on that before attempting to remove the window from the Curse.) Come Monday the actual cutting of the damaged frame is going to happen, followed by cutting out the identical piece from the Junker and then welding it to the Curse.
Damage is extensive according to Dave, (Frame shop guy) A little more then he expected from looking at it at first with all the panels still on, Just to give people an idea on how far in we have to go in on the underbody ... (the coolant line needed to be dropped and the brake lines needed to be moved out of the way as well to give the welder some space to weld) but definitely repairable. His words ...you won't even know it was hit by the time I am done. Now stop hugging and talking to your car already, so I can get some work done on it.
... Non Fiero people... >shakes head< they just don't know how much we like our little cars.
