hey Tina, With the damage that your car took and the cost to fix the frame on that one.. ... why not opt for a 88 frame and put all your parts on that one. Just curious..

Good question .... At one point, early right after I got hit, just exactly that went thru my mind. Why not just bolt it on a another frame. Had quite a few frames offered to me, but by the time I totaled up the cost and time of transferring the T's, the engine, wiring, insulation, cost of a good frame and getting it to a "rust free" status I would have exceeded the cost and time of the frame shop.

With a guy named Dave as your frame guy, you should be in good hands. ;-)
Funny you mention this Ski BTW Come on down, I'd be honored to have the great skitime apply his skills to my car.
This is where Dave had to stop working on the Fiero ... hurt his knee. (For anybody i just lost in the last sentence ... Ski's first name is Dave and has/had some big problems with his knees.)
What are the odds Condition of Dave the frame guy are still unknown, depending on how bad he hurt himself, from what the guys told me it looked pretty bad.
I just might just not make it to the Dells afterall. There goes the hotel deposit ..........grrr Tina

I thought that would be the only reasons that you would have done it that way. It would have been a hard choice for me if in your place and that would have to be one heck of a frame guy so that i could trust him and the car to be as good as before. I have opted to improve something instead of just bringing it back in the past and wanted to hear your view since you seem to do the same. Either way it would have taken a lot of thought with the show season under way and just the urge to just want to drive your ride ASAP too..

It was. According to the locals around here, he is the one you want you car done by. Only reason I was able to sneak my car in between his shedule was I knew some people who are good friends with him. Otherwise I would of been SOL. He's already booked into October.

Well when there booked like that, it's for good reason. Hope his injury isn't too serious. It always pays to have friends in the right places..

...man I don't understand why old people still continue to drive! It's a conspiracy why DMV allows them to still have a license, I bet she's out on the road today with her new car!

He's referring to Skitimes 3.8sc not Tina's car. Remember in earlier post Dave "Skitime" hurt his knee so MadCurl would be happy to add Dave's car to his collection.
what...people should hang it up when they hit 50, or what?
No, nothing that strict... but maybe they should have to take a "competency" exam or something to prove that they're still safe on the road (My wife had an accident with a 76 year old guy who pulled across a road and directly into the path of my wife's car... I felt bad for him, but it still should never have happened).

I've got no problem with that Rob, but Tina said back on page 1 that the "old person" that hit her was born in 1950. That was just my way of suggesting that a blanket statement about old people continuing to drive isn't necessarily in order here. I completely agree that there are plenty of seasoned citizens that have no reason being on the road.
I just wouldn't necessarily include a 54 year old in the category of "old drivers." Anybody can have an accident, and there are plenty of people in their teens, 20's 30's and 40's who couldn't pass a driving competency test either.

Wow, I can't believe I've been missing this thread for the past few weeks. This may be kind of late, but I'm glad to hear you're alright, and that the heart of "the curse" is still in good condition. Before you know it, things will be as good as new if not better.

!. Yes, I said "old person". Why did I. Simple In order to keep me away from the other driver my friends fibbed a bit and told it's some little old lady. Worked.
2. No other member's were taking out in the progress of fixing the car. Yes, my frame shop guy Dave is tempoarily out with a bad knee, but not Dave/skitime.
After Skitime posted I should be in good hands with a guy named Dave ... ( Skitime's real name is Dave, and Ski had some knee problems last year) I thought I point out this conicidence out to him. Nothing more.

Just another "bump". Hope Dave's okay, and that you can get your car back together in short order.

...which is even more frightening when you consider that in some places, all you have to do to be considered "competent" is to drive around a parking lot without killing any orange cones. Oh yeah. And parallel parking. Can't forget parallel parking.

Well for the moment poor Dave is wearing some extra heavy knee pads. Last time I talked to him he had it within 1 mm of perfect, now I just got to figure out how to bring the back clip to him this afternoon. Also, more crushed velvet material has been found to restore the head liner, a new door handle is on it's way to me, along with some new door screws and the passenger side quarter panel should be done this afternoon as well. I'll post some progress pics this evening.

Maybe you want too look for an aftermarket headliner, in glassfiber or carbonfiber . Restoring a broken headliner can take a lot of your time. Mine took a lot of repair, everytime I fiberglassed a crack, new ones would appear somewhere else I ended up doing the whole thing in fiberglass...
Anyway, good luck with your rebuild, looks like a lot to be done but I think you can get it done! ....and those scarves will add to the personality of your car later

If I remember right, she has T-Tops... But definitely good advice regardless.
..and at last the print out of the cahrt after it was all done. From what I been told that'd as close as it gets, even compared to a vehicle brand new leaving the factory.
Now on to the reasemble ... this evening we got the little one washed, vacumed, painted everything that is supposed to be gloss black, touched up the T-top area while at it, and got the back window area cleaned up to get ready for the window re install. Man, am I beat.
