Okay I just got off the phone with my "source" and it is confirmed.
DONT BUY ANY DOOR KITS! a.k.a lambo doors, scissor doors, or VDC kit!
So please, "don't get it twisted." Credit card company stated that "they" filed for chapter 7 or 14? Which ever one it is, it's the one that keeps the creditors away and "screws" potential customers.
I'll find out more info on Wednesday.
What about potential buyers? IMO I would Call your credit card company and stop payment.

Thanks Fierotech for your concerns. However, I have Capital One. hehehehe. I called my credit card and everything seem to check-out okay. Theres is a $0 balance on the account. I never pay by a bank visa or check. Not for that kind of money......hell no!
My concerns are not for me but for all others who may or may have purchased the VDC. I just hope "they" will honor their obligations to the customers who "already" purchased the VDC.
There will be several members later who bought the VDC that will voice their opinon(s). There are only (4) so far. This doesn't include FieroRumor. He bought his VDC kit from Decah.

Curly - so you're saying that the problem is actually with Car Excess, not Decah - right? (there is a local company here in the Minneapolis area that deals with Decah installs themselves...)
You have to find out what type of bankruptcy they filed. One type of bankruptcy allows them to stay in business, but protects them from creditors. Hopefully, this is the type they filed. This way they could still fullfill orders. Another type of bankruptcy means they are insolvent and are out of business.

Just got off the phone with Kelly, apperently Ian teh so called previous owner on sunday night STOLE EVERYTHING, all computers, employee tools, spray guns,phones,etc... The company is no more. If they withdrew your funds call your bank imediatly & file a dispute before its too late......... The ex employees are going to regroup & start up the company again, since they did all the work, Ian was only the guy that took orders but owned the business name... Good luck to all who are getting screwed, they told me there is over 80 people but they dont know who because all records are with Ian.

Can someone please clear this up? Is it Decah or Car Excess that we are talking about. I recently got my kit from Decah so I'm not worried now, but I was planning on getting more in the future.

...I'm pretty certain he's referring specifically to Car Excess.

Car Excess. At the time, I didn't want to state the name of the company until I got a second call to verify my information. Now it's confirmed by the credit card company and by a former employee.
I called (2) people that I know of that purchased the VDC kit from Car Excess. Last night I didn't have your number Radruss, I'm sorry. I tried my best. I found out around 23:00hr pacific time. Most of the PFF members are asleep back east and only 25 people were viewing PFF.
Madprop's to Madcurl for pointing this out to fellow PFF members. If more people took this kind of action when coming across such info, less people would get screwed by various vendors.

Experiences: This is a long story so releave yourself and grab a cup and donut.
Ian: Jan 6, 2004 my car was to be finished and it wasn't. Ian called me and said not to come fly out. $200 dollor plane ticket waisted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lost ticket Resolved: They did some work on my headliner and painted and some other minor things. Also pay for a one-way ticket fron SFO to Tampa. Their cost $200+ My thoughs? Okay, wer're even.
Ian Mar 17, 2004. It's freckin 2 days before the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I e-mail Ian about posting pic of the product "finished." The reason for this is to "make sure it look visually acceptable and not to take of from work. The e-mail was Mar 17, 2004 @ 17:00 hrs. Ian stated or replied: yeah eveything is finished, get on the plane.
Mar 18, 2004 @ 21:00hrs. I arrive at the shop and my s@*`~~~` is cracked! Me: mad as heck! What in the hell I'm going to due now? Ian was no where too be found. Jerry, Kelly, and Joe were there. I told them to get me a plane ticket round trip and finish my !!!s*^!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cooled down after sqeezzing Jerry's scotum real hard and we all agree to get me plane ticket the following Monday because no available flights out of Tampa/St Pererberg were all booked. So, Joe paid for my dinner and took me to my hotel.
Mar 19, 2004 Ian's bother-in-law picks me up at the hotel 11:00hrs. I get to the shop and the car ain't finished. Although Jerry was working on it until 23:00hr last night. Okay, I know that there is no way that the crack in the dash if going to be fixed in time for the show. So what are my options?
Go to the show anyway (incognito) I'm leaving Monday anyway so I might as well enjoy the show, right?
Mar 19, 2004 13:00hrs. Joe takes me out for lunch, which he pays for it. (I'm not a free-loader but he wanted too). They put in up in a $300,000 dollor house w/dock in the back. Me: Cool. Joe and I when cruising in the show car. We meet-up with Jerry and Kelly at a restuarant and eat gater tails and drinks (good meat) they pay for my dinner. Later on that night we when cruising the blvd in Clearwater, FL. Girls and other thing I won't get into.
Mar 20 Saturday they take me to the show in Daytona. I was so confused I forgot that the show was at Daytona Speed way. Duh I meet-up with Mr. Fiero and he gives me a ride to the show. Thanks Mr.Fiero.
Mar 20-21 will you all know this part.
Mar 22, 2004 I fly out of FL.
Apr 5 20:31hrs I fly out to Tampa to get my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It ain't ready. Jerry works on it until 02:00hr in the morning. It's now close to being finished. They have to detail it before I leave in the morning. We laugh and have tell some jokes. Ian was no where to be found to sqeeze his scotom real hard!
Apr 5, 2004 I arrive at Ian house and crash there. I can't sleep, toss-and-turn all night. 08:00hr Ian and I talk and he we go to the shop. Their detailing the car. Battery has a dead-cell. Can't get Carmine to pose for pics. We go to Wing rest. for a quick girlie pic. I notice my t-pulg cap is leaking. Back to the shop. Jerry goes to Auto Zone and fixes my problem ($20 doller part, he pays) I notice that one of my tires is low? This came to haunt me after I arrive in CA. My car starts but its seem that something is wrong with the battery even though they charged it earlier that night. Will around 14:00hrs I stop at Auto Zone and get a new battery (I had a warrenty).
I'm now late to catch the flight out of OK, which Kelly paid for the ticket. Well you all know the rest.
The items that bite or rub me the wrong way:
My new Car Cover from The Fiero Store: someone used it while my car was there, placed on a another vehical. Ian said that he was going to take care of it. Dry cleaning it or replacing it. I havn't checked it it has arrived at my ohter house?
My rubber window parts where the widnow meets the A-piller are missing. Ian said he was going to replace them. And the little plastic tabs that go over the inner door panel are missing. And that low tire that I mentioned earlier, well it turned out to be a big nail. I got it fix'd for $15 bucks.
Also: Jerry and Kelly decide to take $1200 dollers off my balance which left it at $0 . Ian wanted to charge me with the remaining $1200 but, I'd stated I'm lossing $500+ bucks a day by not being at work, dude! They even tried to get me a different ticket once I missed my flight out of OK which was $156 I think? The tickets that "they" paid for round trip ticket from SFO to Tampa was around $450+ I think? So they paid all of the plane trips. I'd just drove the darn car home, it's summer dude!
My thoughts: The VDC kit? 98% happy, interior 98% happy, and side rocker kit 99% happy. If I was living in FL maybe may car would have been finished much quicker? Kelly and Jerry stated that they were going to redue Franks VDC kit. it needs some adjustments. It should look like mine or better. There were (2) other guys there that worked on Frank's and no longer are emplyed there before the "implosion."
Okay what' your thoughts?

Thank god your ordeal is over. :0 Sorry you had such issues with that shop.
I only had the doors done( nothing else done to dash or car)
My experience with the decah hinges: 1. Saw Madcurls post. *Drooled excessively* 2. asked him where he got them from. He supplied info, very nice guy. 3. Ordered them from Decah. 4. Found out they may not fit 5. Started trying to put them on, realized It would not be a good idea. 6. Brought it to a local shop that had a Lambo kit-car outside. (Saturday) 7. Monday, got a call, wanted to show me the doors. Looked ok. 8. Picked up car on Wednesday.
Madcurl, at least now,you have a great car that 8,000+ people drool over (on this forum alone)...
Thanks yet again for all your help.
I think of you every time I open my door (awwwain't that sweeet?)
Experiences: This is a long story so releave yourself and grab a cup and donut.
Thanks for the detailed write up Curly - it definitely offers a bit of insight into who was running that company. I really hate places like that.
I've also heard through another member (who wishes to remain anonymous) that they had some pretty poor dealings with Car Excess. They were informed that Decah was "out of stock" on the universal kit that was needed for the conversion - the person called Decah directly and found out otherwise. Following that, the stuff Car Excess shipped out did not work on the person's car (and they described one side as actually appearing to be damaged and/or broken). Scary stuff...
If/when I do get around to doing something like this... I'll probably go with the local company I noted (or another simliar shop who has demonstrated their skills in custom autos at some recent shows).
Good luck to everyone in getting this stuff resolved!

Thanks FieroRumor for your kind thoughs. I may have (1) + Frank's being made directly from the company but at what cost to fellow members here? That's the said part. Someone loosing 2g's aint easy. That's if Ian returns the VDC kits that were ordered. He (Ian) seemed to be a pretty nice guy at the time. I even eat tri-tip's at his house. I just hope that it was a disagreement he had with Jerry and Kelly and NOT FRAUD!!!!!!!
Only time will tell? In the meantime I need to call Mr. Mike's and get that "name" off his web page!

Yeah I was talking to that "person" for 74 minutes. I'm still tring to fugure what in the heck happened on that crap? From the looks of it, either "they' were jugling two sets between that "person" and me? Radruss's was either never made or was made and didn't get shipped out? The original "pattern" was too be made from mine and therefor benifit all Fiero owners.
From talking to Kelly, I got a different story vs. the "other person." All I know is that at $2200+ my next project may be lambo-less? <steam loss, goes to London to think about it>
