Wow, i was beginning to think this day would never come. It really looks good in the pics Rob and i'd bet it is simply amazing in person. Can't wait to see it at the dells! <edit: i own page two wOOt > ------------------ Activities Director N.I.F.E.
And then the next day before I was ready to drive back - and yes, I drove it back as you see it. Everything is painted, but it's only been very quickly wetsanded and buffed - the rest of the body parts are in Kev's truck.
A really big thanks to everyone again for their kind (and frequently humorous) comments!
...just got back from having a late dinner with some of the out-of-towners (and a some "locals" too ) who are here for the MFF show. They liked the new paint
To try and answer a few questions quickly...
Fie Ro - your car is certainly coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished as well! Getting the outer door panel off isn't really bad at all, there are 4 of those plastic torx screws on each end, then the rivets to hold to door panel to the door frame on the bottom... and finally the door is "hung" over a flange at the top (and there is some door hardware that needs to be disconnected as the door comes off). After seeing it off, it's really pretty easy.
jscott1 - I just ran out to the garage and checked... they're actually 6" tall, not the 7" that I had previously assumed.
Revin - yeah, it's nice to no longer be among the "primered" crowd, and my wife is pretty much the same as I... still in the "transition" period of getting used to seeing it all one color. While filling the tank tonight (at $2.05/gal ) I just wandered back and forth around the car watching how the metallic changed... it's actually got a cool "bluish" tint to it under certain lighting!
Black-Azz-GT & Razor Wing - the M3 effects were the same ones RadRuss used when doing his conversion... they're originally for a '92 Civic 4-door (although presumably the 2 door ones could be used as well). There's some good info in this thread, but feel free to ask specific questions... be glad to help. Initially I just "capped" the stock rocker with the fiberglass part, but prior to painting I went through and ground off that added lip (was causing some interference with the lower door rivets) and smoothed it over - which was a huge PITA, but came out looking nice... I'll shoot some new pics for you guys this weekend.
88GTNeverfinished - yeah, I thought about posting in your "finished" topic - but I know people have already seen mine in primer enough times Good thing you followed Jon's directions... for whatever stupid reason I didn't the 1st time around - and had to reglass it twice and it shows (not a perfect install, but I'm happy with it).
Archie - not "steal" ...more like borrow for a couple of weeks!
GTFiero1 - Adam... I'll just say that something is in the works in the wheel department, but aside from a select few - it'll be a surprise (much like this topic was). Have I ever mentioned that I like surprises?
wkayl - Wayne... LMAO, good one. Really though, Kev has worked on enough more Fieros than I have that he had a much better understanding of how many of the panels attached than I did ...and he was there for some comic relief as well

Thanks Rob, I guess I need a life...I had a dream that I came up to MN and measured your wing stands And I can't help but walk around and admire my car every time I am at the gas station. I get that is a common Fiero trait

Looks great! The green is awesome, even though its hard to capture the metallic flakes in a picture. The colour combo of the green, tan, and wood on the interior make me think of forest when I see your car lol. Its pretty classy.
I'm actually working on a newer design, as I've come to the conclusion that the "white" look doesn't go so well with the rest of the "dark" tone of the car... it was a fun project though

Hey, not fair, I'd only be able to post 1 photo, as it still new !!!
MinnGreenGT, looks great ! Know you must have a big grin !!
Hey Rob - It looked great at the MFF show this weekend. You should be proud. Here are a couple more!
Thanks for the pics - it was great to meet you this weekend! And the car defintely was well-received by everyone.
LOL, after dinner I spoke to the judge who reviewed my car (I scored only 55 out of 100, and was the only one in my class to take a "Bronze" award), and he was a bit concerned that I was unhappy with my score & award... but I was quick to assure him that I knew the car wasn't fully prepared (there is rubbing compound "spatter" everywhere under there right now) - and that I wouldn't score well keeping the hood & decklid closed. So no worries there I'm planning on cleaning it a bit more before the Dells Run though!
Looks really good! Very nice shade of green you've selected. I'm coming up on 2 years when I started working on my Fiero, also. I think it was back in October of 2002 when I really started removing body panels, sanding, etc. So it's probably going to be more than 2 years total before I'm "finished" with it.
The car looked great and it was good to meet you again after about a decade....
Thanks Nick! And it was good to see you again
And for everyone, here's another pic I shot Friday about 6pm... it's pretty good with the color, but you can still see it needs to be polished a bit before it's "finished" completely!

LOL - amazingly enough, last weekend was the 1st time anyone has ever mentioned that... and of course it had to be Tom (the Prezzz) from Wisconsin when I was parked next to - Purple Reign
But nope... no "Packer" connection aside from the fact that it was painted in Wisconsin

Hey Rob - It looked great at the MFF show this weekend. You should be proud. Here are a couple more!
These pics do look great. Are you gonna stay with the stock wheels. They do look good on the green. I just love bigger rims. I think that a set of 17 or 18" gold or bronz wheels would set it off.

Funny. But seriously, the car DOES look great--very nice color. Hope to run into you again at a show somewhere with the car now in more complete form.

I really like the style of the "lace" wheels, but decided that I wasn't going to shell out the $500 per wheel for 17" Compomotive CX wheels in that style and color... so I looked at all the Gold & bronze wheels I could find - and almost settled on some gold gram lights... but changed my mind. Instead, I have a custom "mixed" set (18x7.5 rear/17x7 front) currently on order from a supplier in California (had to have them special ordered for the mixed sizes & specific offset). Unfortunately they only were available in silver, graphite, & chrome... so once they arrive they're going straight to the wheel refinishers to be sandblasted & re-powdercoated in the same gold as my current wheels. I'm crossing my fingers hoping I can get the refinished & on the car before Dells run in a couple of weeks!
I'm trying to decide whether or not I'm going to keep the style "quiet" for awhile or not... but check your PMs for some photoshop work
