BMW M1 that is. I saw a pick this afternoon of one (below) and did a double take. At first glance I thought it was a Fiero but something wasn't right. The black front bumper resembles the 84-86 Fiero coupes with the front black bumper pads. The rest of the car is obviously different, but that front view...

Or maybe I am just nuts. But there appears to be some resemblance to me.

edited: added a pick of my fathers 85 SE 2m6 for comparison.

Close, except the BMW has those "buck teeth" on the front end ...

Your right with those buck teeth, but with the front license plate in place, that difference wouldn't be all that noticeable anyway (assuming the front plate would go in the same spot as the Fiero).

Mercedes had the c111 which was a cross between a Fiero and an BMW M1

It's just the pics. I would never mistake one for the other.

They looks similiar in some of those shots...if ya had a plate on the front covering the plates, and didn't look at the side mirrors or the way the lower fenders look...

Don't think you could be confused if ya saw them both from the side...

Oh, I know overall they are not all that similar (I even said so in my original post!). But from the front, and only the front, there is a striking resemblance in some of the details. I just found it interesting (and wondered if the Fiero designers were at all influenced by the M1). It did come out about the time the whole Fiero project started in the late 70's.
