I'd just like to introduce myself and my Fiero to everyone here at the forum. My name is Dusty Howlett, I'm currently living in Grand Forks, ND, and I'm 23 years old. My main interests are cars, computers, and art - right now, I do computer repair work, and I'm also the webmaster/concept artist for www.aurorarods.com (always a work in progress). The "Renderings" section has some examples of my Illustrations and Photoshop work.
Now, about my Fiero! I bought the car from Don Vellenga a few months ago. It's a 1988 GT, basically stock, with the 5-speed Getrag and the 2.8L V6, still running strong with 186,000 miles. The only major modification is a chrome Hooker rollbar behind the seats. This is my first Fiero, and I absolutely love it!
Here's some more pictures of my car, and also some quick Photoshops I did (I'm thinking of changing the color/wheels)
I'm thinking about doing an engine swap next summer, but I have no idea what engine I would pick. If anyone here with a Fiero that's had an engine swap is going to be at Back to the 50's at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds June 18th-20th, you should track me down! Most of the time I'll be at the Aurora Rods & Customs booth, which should be on the corner right by the end of the skylift (if we're in the same spot as last year). If you bring your Fiero so I can check it out and/or go for a ride, even better! If you don't find me at the Aurora booth, feel free to call my cellphone at 218-280-0683.
I look forward to being a part of the Fiero community, and hopefully I can meet some other forum members at Back to the 50's (no Fieros allowed, I know, but still a great car show!!)

Wow, I didn't expect this many responses this fast!! Does anyone on here actually work?
Hopefully I will get to meet a lot of you (and your Fieros!) in person. I've read up a lot on the different engine swaps, but still have no idea which direction I'd go. Maybe instead of trying to decide which engine to go with, I should just buy 10 more Fieros!!

One way to decide is to come down and test drive a few. We've got a bit of everything in the area (SBC, N*, 3800 N/A, 3800 S/C stick & auto, 3.1 V6, 3.4L V6, 2.8L V6 Turbo, - although I can't think of anyone with a 3.4TDC?)

Hey welcome to the Forum. I'm glad to see i'm not the only one from Grand Forks, ND. We might have to get together some time i just recently got my fiero but haven't had time to fix the column and buy a battery for it so its up in Cavalier at my parents place.
If you see a black Beretta GTZ with a primered trunk lid and chipping paint all over the body thats one of three of my cars swing by and chat. I will be working today at Mark's Amoco by paradiso.

MinnGreenGT - Test drives sound great! Hopefully I can make it down sometime this summer.
Lothurin - Yeah, we'll have to get together sometime! What is your Fiero like, and where did you buy it? I don't see too many Fieros around town.
fierohoho - Too bad you're working, have you been to Back to the 50's before? That car show is great!!
Black-Azz-GT - Yes, the two do look very similar! Actually, I've seen a lot of pictures of your car around, and I think it looks GREAT. What kind of wheels do you have on there?
Purple Reign - Nice car, where do you live?
And everyone else: Thanks for the warm welcome, and keep up the great work!
Work is second priority here. Just kidding You have to check out the forum then after that business is taken care of you work. Actually since joining Pennocks I have been questioned about my internet time a couple times but I have a cool boss.

Good deal, maybe I'll see you at the show! Where is your shop? And where/what is Porky's? I suppose I could look it up online, but I'm just lazy sometimes.
Just checked the calendar... Back to the 50s is just next weekend (18th-20th) Excellent I had totally forgotten about it! - time to clean the car up again for a good night on University Ave BTW: Porkey's is the big drive-in style burger-joint hang out right on University ave (around the corner from the fairgrounds where the BTT50s show is held)

I'm in the same position with the computers... I've got 3 running on my desk all day long (and PFF is always up on one of 'em!)

And what happened at the Dells? (That's in Wisconsin, right?)
Lots You just missed it this past weekend. Check out this thread to get a basic idea: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/042325.html (there were an awful lot of Minnesotan's-in-the-bar references )

Too bad I missed out on the Dells, sounds like a good time! But I'm really excited for Back to the 50's - seeing all the rods and customs completely taking over the streets is always a stunning sight, like going back in time! And there's always lots of other nice cars cruising around, too. I'll have to check out Porkey's, also.
Skitime - Very nice Fiero, want to trade engines?

Got any good, hi-resolution pictures of your car? I'd need to know what kind of orange you want, and if you'd want it all orange, or orange with the silver/gray ground effects.
Black-Azz-GT - Yes, the two do look very similar! Actually, I've seen a lot of pictures of your car around, and I think it looks GREAT. What kind of wheels do you have on there?
Thanks for the complements. The Wheels are Excel Art, and they are dicontinued. I bought on of the last made. Oh, and I have them sold to a friend as soon as my new wheels arive tomorrow.
Welcome Dusty!!! hey im a big fan of 88 GT's, and your car is ssweeettttt!!!!! im pretty sure you will like it here alot, and feel free to PM me ne time you like, either to talk fieros or if you have a question.
------------------ I am the owner of an original yellow 1988 pontiac fiero GT, (wingless) bought it with 95k miles, i got a heavy right foot, 3rd owner and a very proud also....
exc911ence - I'll have to remember to do a photoshop for you later, right now I'm busy preparing a bunch of drawings for the Back to the 50's car show. In the meantime, you should e-mail me some nice pics of your car!
Black-Azz-GT - Too bad those wheels are discontinued, they look great, as does the paint on your Fiero! Are you sure you won't share the code # for that paint? Hope you like your new wheels, I look forward to seeing the pics! What size/offset/etc are the old and new rims?
roys88fiero - Thank you, on all accounts! And I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you in the future!
carbon - Yes, seems like a very awesome, and VERY helpful community (when everyone is getting along... ) Do you plan on going to Back to the 50's?
I'd like to... I am in the process of replacing a cross over pipe with a hole in it... its kind of a bugger for those of us novice mechanics... but I fixed the damn TCC and got the tranny side cover back on and I survived my first Fiero fire. By God I will get this thing done... and I have a weekend and a week to do it. But yeah, I hope to make it...
Hold the phone... your join date is October 2003... Ur one of them dirty lurkers aren't you...
