As some of you know we had been slowly putting a nitrous system in Jordans Fiero. One of the hold ups in finishing it was that the bottle we purchased was using an older style valve. We ended up going with a whole new system from Holley and yanking the custome painted lime green bottle. The nice thing about this is the new system not only uses a much better high flow valve but will more easily allow us to set up two bottles if we want. Here are some pics of the installation: We stopped at Advanced Auto to pick up the rest of the needed parts to finish the install: Getting to ready to remove the green painted bottle in place off the better one and start to drill to allow the connections to go into the engine bay: Running the power from the battery to the module: ------------------ Updated June 2004! Over 600 pics of our ever growing fleet of Pontiac excitement including a few new pics of Jordans F&F Green Beast!

The new bottle in place and the lines running into the engine and being connected A close up of one of the T-connectors The connection to the bottle You can see the notch on the injector as it has to be installed just right and before the throttle body and the notch has to be angled correctly towards the carb Then we added another set of wheel buttons to activate the nitrous with

Thanks for making that thing functional. Careful though... People are going to start running out of things to pick on! Nice buildup before and afters... and you minimized the presence of TOO much radiation. Thanks. Let us know how juice makes the duke feel.

It's certainly a unique feeling kicking in the nitrous. What a rush. This pic was taken after we used up the first filling of the bottle: Afterwards the engine is still running like it has been, purrs like a kitten. The system is a 75 shot and holy cow!! Thought we would share the pics of the install in case anyone else with a 4 cyl might be interested in NOS for their ride, plus to show those who might have thought it was fake Tomorrow I have to go and get the bottle filled.... again Steve & Jordan

Wow! I hope Jordan doesn't care about trunk space! I'm interested to see what kind of quarter mile it will run with the NOS in it... Hm... -Will ------------------ [This message has been edited by 88red4cyl (edited 06-23-2004).]

Yeah, we haven't been to any shows with it since the one last Friday for the Slap show as part of the New England leg of the tour at the Electronic Superstore: http://www.slapshow.com/04standings/ so it is a bit dirty

Where do you buy steering wheel buttons? The set you added? I didnt know you could buy them without buying the whole wheel! This was sent to me from someone who wants to stay anonymous---> " Steve, you are such a liar. For one you are running a dry kit on your car. mistake number one. You have no provision for uppin the fuel pressure on your car like the dry kit requires. Two, even if you did, your current single fuel injector does NOT flow enough fuel to support an extra 75 shot! Thats roughly a 70 percent increase in fuel that you will need in order to run a dry shot!! I CALL BS!!!!! Why must you lie!! To try and hush your critics on your fake kit you try and do this stuff. Also your duke would not handle 2 minutes(roughly a 75 shot) on that Puke of yours. You are so full of it. Since the kit is installed. Lets see some dyno numbers, and an a/f reading. Its only $5 more for the WB reading so you should be able to afford it. Prove that you aren't BSING!!! lets see a pic of the nozzle in the air cleaner housing. I want to see where you mounted it" Geez im a dead man. Seems like a good amount of money to spend on something that he wouldn't actually use. 75 shot, wow, yes that does seem like a lot, its more than the car puts out N/A to the wheels I bet. I know how it was on my V6, I can imagine its a nice kick in the butt. What did Jordan say the first time he pressed the button??

6,5,4,3,2,1 What's with the 2 air cleaners? You have the free flow filter floeing into the fram filter???
Keep Bob's number handy for a replacement duke. How much did they/he charge you to install that kit in your car? When all the lights are on in the car can it be seen from space?

Let me try and answer a few of the questions. The second air filter some are reffering to I am assuming is the odd looking cold air intake. Right now that is non functional as it was put in awhile back for a couple of reasons: 1) For show. Plain and simple. As many custom Compact show cars display a cold air intake and since Jordans Fiero was as much show as anything else that was why. 2) The other reason it was installed the way it is was because it was put there in anticipation to work at some point with a set of over the roof Fi-air-o scoops. When I received them however they were in much more need of repair than I had anticpated and so that will be a project for later down the road now. We actually now have a different longer cold air intake that we will be functional replacing the non functional one you see in there now with when we get a chance. Jordan has not actually "pressed" the button himself yet. Right now I am just getting the feeling of this myself as it is new to me as well, and I want to feel totally comfortable with it before he gets to reach over and press it himself. No, I highly doubt the engine will implode, grenade, blow up or whatever. But hey if it ever does, we will certainly enjoy it while it runs and it's our car to play with as we like anyway If the engine does give up the ghost at some point I have two words for when it does: Engine Swap As for the dry/wet it's BS it's fake 75 shot yadda yadda argument. You can clearly see that it's actually installed and we have allready used up one filling of the bottle. Geeze, what more proof do some of you want? We posted pics. I guess now you will all be lining up to ride in it yourself to see first hand? Show dyno numbers? Yeah no problem, I will run right out to the driveway and hitch up my palm pilot to the computer and get those numbers to post right away for ya LOL Tell this "anonymous" person it works just fine Steve [This message has been edited by Fiero5 (edited 06-24-2004).]

Thanks but I don't think we will need to call him for one | quote | How much did they/he charge you to install that kit in your car? |

It does come with very nice instructions you know, but I will admit that we did get some help from a guy that has allready installed over 6 of these kits, so I am pretty confident it was done correctly. It sure feels that way when you press that little red button | quote | When all the lights are on in the car can it be seen from space?

Since the steering wheel is a Sparco, they offer an add on set of buttons that fit most of their more current wheels (Sparco part # 15NE982-dual and #15NE981-single). We went with the dual set because as I said earlier we are planning on adding a second bottle for better display at shows (two is always better than one ) not to mention that we won't have to go get a refill as often everytime we want to play a little Steve

I think that duke looks clean.... I live in eastern Colorado and you should see mine due to all the dirt in the air all the time. Its got about a Quarter of an inch of oil mixed with dirt all over it. Soon it will set and the oil leaks will be gone lol. All kidding aside mine leaks really bad so Keeping it clean is really hard to do. I personaly think the Duke holds up well to what you throw at it. I have had expirance with it in 3 cars now and dont think its a bad engine.... just a bit underpowered... However lots of low end torque. I raced my friend with his 95 T-Bird with the 4.6L in it and I kept up with him thru first gear. If I had your nos setup I could beat him hands down with it.

a wet shot would have been a much better system seeing as its throttle body injected. The intake is already designed to flow fuel through it and it has a single injector that your almost doubling the horsepower with. I give the car another couple of bottles before you stack the rings on a couple pistons. People have blown 6's on a 75 shot, i am hesitating on putting a 125 shot on a 2.8 with forged pistons and everything built and balanced. Ill start it off with a 75 shot that after a few bottles ill crank it up. A friend just blew his 2.2 on his cavalier with a 75 shot of nitrous, cooked a piston, and hes no amature with nitrous and the 2.2 is a much better motor than the 2.5. I wouldnt put more than a 35 shot on a duke, a wet 35 shot ------------------ Carbed 2.9 engine build in progress. forged pistons, crane cam, fully balanced, ARP bolts, double roller timing chain and more --Adam-- IM AOL: FieroGT5speed

How'd you get your shift cable lines red? (awesome mod) I've saw the question why there's the reactive cai there. Where's the other end connected to? Just wondering.... thanks

I had a '62 Ford Fairlane with that same engine. I decided to use a couple litres of engine cleaner on it one day and my engine disappeared. Good thing I didn't attempt the rust remover Good job Fiero5! Not to my tastes, but you're teaching Jordan some valuable skills, both physical and mental (think outside of the box??? F*ck that! Build the damn thing!). I'm trying to get my daughter involved with The Rogue (my fiero project) but she's resisting the whole 'eewww icky stuff under my nails' thing...
