Actually those holes are more correct to the real pace car. People have become accustomed to the Daytona wheels which are similar to Indy wheels but the holes are too big.

just my opinion. But i think they are too convex. notice how the convex bubble of the real thing doesn't protrude past the outter ring of the rim itself. yours has a bit too much bubble and goes out a bit too far in the middle. not sure if this was unavoidable or not due to the smaller rim you used.
Kudos for enginuity

The reason the cover appears to stick out as you mention is that the pace car uses a really wide rim with a lot of outside edge. Notice on his car the small lip compared to the real one... Looks like a great mod though. Goes a long way towards recreating the track car.
Hi Guy, I just got on as a member here and was very interested in your wheels. But the page has gone away. Can you re-post or let me see what you did ? Thanxxx hexcarnut1@yahoo.com

Anybody have a clue how to refinish stock Indy wheels? I have a set that needs refinishing. Do you just strip off all the white and have them re-powder coated? Then do you pin stripe the red? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
