I was wondering if you can give any more info on the type of wood you used to bend, the thickness, etc.
And also, how about did you bend it? Do you have a steamer? Do you just use a heat gun?
Thanks for the compliments
How to bend 1/8" Hardboard: Stick it in a bucket and clamp...
Fie Ro: good point about the moisture. I guess I'll seal the underside for now. I'm not sure about the weight vs. fiberglass though... It's necessary that this dash be solid because of the way the monitor hangs and swivels. Not that fiberglass isn't strong, but I'd still have to brace it with something so nothing flexes. For now it should be ok....It would make a good plug though
Question for all: do you think having all the idiot lights in the front edge of the guage hood would be cool? Maybe put them behind tinted plastic? Because of the way I want my guages, there isn't a lot of room for lights. Whaddya think?
The cupholder in PaulJK's photos is in FieroSound's car at http://www.fierosound.com/ . He told me at the 20th that it came from a Dodge product? I'm not sure, maybe he'll chime in or you can email him. He's a regular on the Forum.

Sure, that would look trick. If I'm not mistaken, the Lambo Diablo interior has the warning lights in the same area.

Flyguy, got a picture of those? want to part with 1 or 2?
Soup, what kind of layout do you need? I'm going to cut mine out of vinyl. BTW...got any updated pics of your dash?
nah, no updated pics as of yet... I just started a new job, and moving into a new house, so I havent had much time... but....
I decided to change the airvents from stock, to a custom round vent after seeing curleys dash, and originally, I was just going to round out the stock cluster, and molding it into the custom dash, but after seeing yours, I am thinking of using the hardwood as a base under the glass, and molding my own gauge bezel.
So I need to find the warning lights, vents, and gauges... I want a hot rod style gauge set up, havent found anything too apealing yet, but I also havent had a chance to look around too much. I am really liking the ractive gauges though, just wish they didnt say ractive on them..
I think I have found the air vents, I have the link somewhere, I will be ordering them in a week or so, and if I can find the warning lights I have pictures in my head, I will be mounting them above in an overhead display with my CD face plate...
Wish I had the talent and motivation you have man, whole car is just going to be... wow...
Oh, also, Fie Ro (forget the exact spelling in the username... sorry) gave me an awesome idea for the center console, that is also what I was thinking of using the hardwood for, if I can bend it, then I will be cutting out a flame design, and bending it over my custom center console, and vinyling that.. having the rest of the center console painted fiberglass.

My brother one day during the winter asked me, "What kind of material can I work with easily and paint?" He gave me a funny look when I told him wood! He paints cars for a living...you should see what he did! Molded and airbrushed, raised flames on his door panels. Looks incredible. I'll post some pics of that too. He did his dash too.
I have no idea what vents I'm using yet...unfortunately I don't have too much space in the center for anything.

ill try to get a camera hokked up to my comp. i have no way to shrink pics, so its a bit of a ***** to upload stuff. i am not sure exactly how many i have, i will have to look. they are a plastic framed affair with the following translucent plastic deals from left to right: green square for turn signal, upshift, brake, a picture of an oil can, a picture of a battery, the high beam symbol, seat belt symbol, and another green box.
talk to "RACE" he has an EXP too, maybe he has the pictures you need!

I might as well ask in this post, because something similar was just brought up above
For the dash I am doing, I need warning lights that are horizontal... does anyone know what car I could take some horizontal warning lights out of?
Check the later model Dodge minivans Look over the top of the dash. All the warning lights are built with a slight curve that would perfectly match Joe's dash that he is making. They may work for you.

thats crazy man, awesome idea. Looks very futuristic. I cant wait until pat releases his dash kit, the only thing I have yet to modify in my car is the dash and door panels.
Looking good man. Iguess your not worried about weight.

An added 5-10 lbs, so I can program/monitor my motor with the Electromotive TECII, never get lost anywhere, have internet, etc, etc, etc. Not really. The added weight is essentailly that metal bracket that holds the LCD screen up.

What do you guys think about this for the gauges? I'll be using the stock guages to save $$. ]
If you're gonna use stock gauges, I'll save you the trouble. Let me have it! Just send the dash to me for my project. I'll put new gauges in it for you.
IMO I would wait and then get mordern gauges. It's too prettty to screw it up with out-dated ugly stock gauges. Putting those back into the car is like "getting a wide body and then put the stock Gt rims back on."
