posted by Cliff Pennock (01-01-2001 through 01-01-2005) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've noticed that some signatures are a bit beyond what they are meant for. If you are using images in your signature, please keep in mind that not everybody has a broadband connection. Some threads load very slow simply because the browser needs to load a couple of hundred K's of signatures. So try to keep them below 30K max.
Also, some signature images are way too large. If your signature image is higher than 4 lines of text, chances are it's annoying the heck out of people. Repetition - i.e. displaying your signature with every response in the same thread - is also not preferable.
If you want to include a link to your website in your signature, try doing this with a text link. I've seen animated banners in some people's signature. One of the nice things about this forum is that it has no banners. Please keep it this way. Most people find banners annoying and I'm already receiving complaints from members about the banners in signatures.

But it still requires people to wait for a 114K+ sig to load in a page, regardless of who's bandwidth its chewing up. Me, I don't care, I've got cable at home and DSL here in my house at school. But for those people still on dialup, thats a long arse time to wait, especially for a sig thats 150x113 pixels. You can create much larger graphics that take up a whole lot less space.
