Ok, As alot of you ppl may have noticed, I have huge goals for my fiero, fastback swap in process, I'll be making a new nose, and MODing up some Rocker / front fender / QP combo thing... I'll explain more on those maybe later...

But heres something I've been thinking about...

A 4th brake light, or... removing the 3rd and doing this...

A brake light on an 87 fastback where the light runs the length of the spoiler, or a brake light that is on the rear of the spoiler...

Anyone understand ?

Could someone PS it on a fastback with the stock taillights, and also with the 355 replica taillights please ?

You talking about a LED brakelight in the spoiler similar to what Cadillacs and such use? That would look pretty cool.

I wanted to put a 3rd brake light inside my Mustang scoop. I thought it would look good, but I would get rid of the factory 3rd brake light.

I have 5" stands on my 88GT.I added an LED light strip wired into my stop lights and used a Lawrence settup to make that light blink rapidly for a few seconds before it stays on.I mounted it to the groove on the underside of the spoiler and ran the wires through one of the stands and the trunk lid.

I recently got a 2002 Cadillac Deville 30 led third brakelight and used a flasher to pulse it when I step on the brakes so I will be seen .

i was thinking the same thing then another idea.

i also looking for a led strip about 40" to replace my 3rd brake light.
i wanted to go across the back window.
i got an cadillac STS 3rd brake light that's mounted in the trunk but
it's too long and it has a little arc.

i did find an 31" led strip but it also had an arc.

where can i find a straight/flat led strip light?

thanks,
toms...

Be aware that the large light bars run $100 to $150 or more.JC Whitney sells a nice 14in light bar.I baught a 3 foot light bar from a company on the internet and it wasnt even in a houseing (there web sight shows it encased in plastic)I have a 14 in. led bar up high and am ready to put another one under the spoiler. The added 3rd or 4th brake light can reduce rear end colisions significantly. Also do an internet search for a product called BackOFF it's a flasing or pulsed device that attaches to the third or fourth brake light for increased visibility.

In Michigan, when adding a spoiler with a third brake light, you must disable one or the other, afaik. I don't know if that applies everywhere, but be advised.

I'll be removing the factory 3rd brake light if i do the LED idea... Mainly b/c i plan on doing something w/ my rear window...

But yea, I'd like to put one on the spoiler almost the full length of it... it would take some fiberglassing and such, b/c id liket o keep the car aerodynamic (nothing hanging off the spoiler) and stream line...

Dan Bunker from N.C. already has one in his spoiler from a Cadillac STS. It was molded-in. Looks good , but sorry , I have no pics of it. He doesn't frequent the Forum.

Any LED that would fit... and where i could get 1... Anybody know ?

I'm not even sure what will fit... Could someone help me research it ?
This is why I posted about it... To see if it has been done, if its possible, and to see if you guys could help me out on getting the How-To info....

Right now, Im curious what will fit, and where I'd get it...

If anyone has pix of this already done... Or any brake light MODs, please post them....

Made my own from a 3rd brake lite in a eclipes spoiler! Then molded it in to the underside of the roof ( there is about 1" lip) no one sees it till I hit the brakes ( with hidden brake light switch on ) wire it directly in to the stock brake light wires !

Disregard the reflection on the scoop in the middle ( dam shiny clear coat ) and YES I SEE THE LIGHT OUT

I personaly think the Honda Accord brake light on some of their spoilers would work better than the Cadillac STS light. It is long , but it is also straight. The Caddy light has a slight arch in it.
Look on Ebay , there's usually quite a few on there.

I bought one last week(cadillac 32 leds) and cut off the screws and left the outside ones got 2 small L brackets covered the back in grey cloth material and turned it upside down and it fits inside like a glove and covers the whole back window.

seeing the Honda one in the spoiler, that's what got me start in thinking about doing it in the spoiler first.

after my 3rd brake light housing broke and seening the cadillac STS light, i thought that would be cool to have
it go across the back window.

Why YES here is one............

They make a long brake/ turn signal light for p/u trucks that fits in between the tailgate and bumper ( look in JCWhitney) It plugs into the trailer conn. and is the length of the tailgate. I am thinking that it will fill the back of the window.
It is like $99 A little snip and cut here and there and ta da

is this what you are talking about?
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/c-10101/s-10101/p-200737/mediaCode-ZX/appId-396990

this was the shortest one at 49" which is a little too long. i wonder if they make a smaller one.

Yep that is the one !
A little bit of modding it can be done. can you solder? Glue? that is about what would need be done. remove a few led's, maybe glue the end cap back on .
I had to cut the houseing on the elclipes lites in half to fit under the roof. super glued the back half on and never had a prob with water getting in there!

I do love those caddy lights they seem curved though?
