I don't know when Curly will be online... He left here last night and was heading back to the Bay today.. Again, I'll answer a couple of questions...

The headliner is a fiberglass piece that is painted to match the exterior of the car, as are the interior side panels, dash, console, etc... Not sure where he got it. He can answer that one when he gets here...

The keypad beside the turn signal stalk is a stock power window swith as guessed...

The gauges on the console do not get in the way of your arm. I guess if you rest your hand on your shifter when you drive they might a little...

As far as the single exhaust, I don't know if that is required for CA emissions or not. The original Caddy had one cat and dual exhaust so I can't imagine the conversion would require anything different. Curly has the other outlet but just hasn't put it on yet. He's trying to decide if he wants that tip or a dual tip.

Someone asked price above... I have talked about that with Curly and I am sure he doesn't mind people knowing... but I'll still leave it to him. I will say that it is WAYYYYY up there!

But, I'm sure as you see from all of the POSITIVE and insanely earned comments. It is worth every dime!!!

How is your insurance quoted? By the mod or an estimated $$$ value by the final cost to mod? On my Karmann Ghia it was quoted by the receipts and apprasial value. Is your car the same?

SAAAAAAAAAAWeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

Somebody should send a picture of his car to the big boys at Pontiac and tell them (and let them see for themselves) that they blew it !

OMG Curly. That is a beautiful car. I'm sure you'll have quite a time answering all the questions posted here, but I'd like to add one more. How tall are you and do you have much trouble w/ the choptop? Again, I envy you and my lowly fiero definitely envies yours. I can say I have quite a lot to work towards.

This car is beautiful, Curly has certainly raised the bar for Chop-tops and just about everyone else.

Words about tall people in choptops with Lambo doors... I hit my head on the headliner inside the car and the bottom of the door getting out of the car... Rie and Curly got a good laugh out of that... I'm 6'2".. of course it could be that I am also a clutz!

Over $75,000.?

And do you know if he is planning on swapping out the auto with a 5 speed at some point?

It's good to hear that he is planning on putting some kind of dual effect on it as that would just finish it off nicely

Again, absolutely beautiful car either way.

I'm sure Curly will chim ein soon enough, but I can tell you that he has no plans to swap out the tranny. The ONLY way to get this conversion smog legal in California is with the stock 4T80-E tranny.....even that is a PITA (from what I hear).

maybe he should try filling in one side, or having it done. i saw an article on doing something like that and i want to try it to keep the single out exhaust on my convertible after i put a gt facia on it. they filled in a urethane bumper with a piece cut out of a junked bumper that had a similar curve to it.

On one hand... that wouldn't be very difficult to do - on the other, I still think it'd look a little "lopsided" - but to each their own!

Hey thanks Songman for posting pics. Thanks guys/gals for the nice comments, but instead of the focus on me it should be towards all of the various Fiero vendors over the past 14 years and Ideas that I have copied.

Okay I'll try to answer some of the Questions:

Camouflage? Black was the best color to camaouflauge the hindges . I'd seen the pics before and you'll notice in the Northstar thread the area was a silver color. Black tends to "cover-up" some of the hardware between the door.
IMO...buy molding-in the body side panels clean it up a little.

Do I ever bump my head? No. I'm 5' 11 3/4" w/o hair, hehehehehe..

How much is invested into the Silver Choptop Car? Less than a new Corvette, hehehehe. Check-in with me after I get D1S turbo. Remember, it's over a period of 14 years.

One tail pipe? Check'n on me after I pass the smog ref's in CA.

Fiberglass headliner? The Fiero Stores, I'd just had Car Excess paint it.....now it won't sag now!

One question that no one asked: was it worth-it, driving to FL? Yes! Would I do it all over again? Are you Crazy? I'll order the door this time.
All other questions I believe are addressed in the Northstar thread.

Everybody is carrying on about the exhaust tip. He builds a car that looks like this and the conversation settles on the number of exhaust tips he has. No matter how nice of a car someone builds, there is always someone who has to find that one thing to critique.

When the car was here for a chop top, it had dual exhaust. Curley mentioned the Kevin Leslie had a single exhaust system that he lends out to his customers to pass smog with. When Curley gets done with Smog, He'll put his duals back on and forward the Leslie exhaust to the next guy who needs it.

what seems more silly, is that you dont at least post a link to where this "northstar" thread is, i did a search and came up with 23, none of which were made by you.

i too was curious about the wheels on your car but i dont feel like sifting through 23 threads to MAYBE get to an answer

LOL - I want to be sure to be clear that we weren't really "criticizing" it as much as "wondering" about it. I pretty much figured Curly wouldn't let a little detail like CA's smog regulations mess with his car

Very cool photo Archie - Thanks!

Do you mean the Half Moon Bay car show? or the one in Bakersfield? The one in HMB is really nice and one guy asked that I enter it. It's not good enough for me to enter it there. I still need to finish the front and rear trunk and chrome-up parts of the engine plus the wide body kit and then painting. So it well be a LLLLLLLong time before that ever happends.

I can't state or say anything about the dual pipes, the CA smog Nazi might be monitoring this thread, hehehehe.
but Archie's pic says it all.

Originally I discussed that with Kevin at D1S about placing the pipes in the center 3 years ago. I went to Daytona and 1-2 guys had them centered in the middle. Looked really cool.

Yeah, the one in Half Moon Bay. Well, if it's not cherry enough for that, it's still more then cool enough to bring it down to San Juan Bautista on May 1 to hang out with the rest of us. I'll buy you a beer! Come on, I'm going to get you to commit to coming. I've got to see this car in the flesh!
