Additional Sections: I like the idea of getting more specific on the tech sections, but not too specific. For example; I get a lot of ideas from (and enjoy reading about) other engine swaps. At most, one tech section for stock motors and one section for swaps. As someone else said above, sections for Engines, Body, Suspension and Interior would be great. On the other hand, I'll still be reading them all anyway.
Thread Subscription: I'd like to be able to subscribe to a thread but I don't know if I need to receive an email about it every time something new has been posted to it. Maybe somewhere on my profile. EDIT: Oops, just read about the stars
Show the last X threads I was active in: I'd like to be able to check out the last threads I posted in. Sometimes I forget where I've posted, it would be a nice way to be able to follow up.
Search Engine: While I'd like to complain about the search engine, I have to say that once you get the hang of using it, it isn't so bad.
Custom Error Messages: Ever bookmarked a thread and try to click on it once it's been archived? It would be nice if a custom 404 error message could parse out the old URL and assemble a link to the new one in the archive.
That's my 2 cents. Thanks Cliff!!!

Sorry for the lack of response, but as yu can see, I went ahead and implemented the "Personal favorites" feature.
I'll leave the Tech Section for what it is (for now).
So what to do next? We can start on a true definitive Fiero FAQ, or I could first create a better Gallery section (where you can submit your own pictures and where people can vote for on those pictures to actually enter the Gallery). Or I could start working on a better "Events List".
Where do you get the time and energy to do all this Cliff? I don't know much about computers and programming but i'm sure it isn't easy.
I don't know if it has been mentioned but i was thinking the HOP TO selector would be nice on top too . It isn't a big deal but i have noticed i'm lazy enough to not want to scroll all the way down to use it.
Thanks Again Cliff i really don't know why you do it but i'm glad you do.

I'd say go for the gallery.

Difine difinitive.
Sart a post and (TACK it) That way we can input "fixes" to common problems for the final FAQ, while you get started on a the voting code for the gallery section.

How about a trigger on the ratings when a person gets 5 or 10 negs one after the other it will automatically impose a temporary ban of say 5 days in that particular forum. The member could still roam the board but the Submit Reply would be disabled and a PM would automatically be generated indicating the temporary ban is in effect.
That way it will act as a kind of instant "feedback" but the member could still be free to add other more constructive inputs in other areas of the froum.
That way the forum could still maintain its "self moderating" feel without the need for moderators.
I added a "Preview" option when you post a message. It wasn't all that difficult to do and it was a much needed option with all the different formatting tags available.

Thank you. Any time I post images and / or hyperlinks I end up editing at least once because I screw it up the first time.
Here's a geek feature request. How about another column with a views/replies ratio?

Cool - hopefully that will reduce the number of times I edit some of my posts
Thanks!

And another thing I've been thinking we've needed for awhile is to be able to see who has rated you good or bad, and for what reason. Just to keep people from rating you bad because "they don't like your new lense covers" or any other similiar reasons. This would also cause people to try to post more helpful responses.
Maybe just view the comments only, so those with ratings could see what they are doing wrong or right. Leave the poster name off.

A topic which came up in another thread is to have a link in the mall with advice on conducting safe transactions. Here is some advice Arns85GT posted on this topic that would make for a great start:
1. Pay through Paypal, and don't buy unless you can. Keep printouts of the payment screens. You may need them. 2. Use your Credit Card when paying, don't debit your account 3. Check with your Credit Card service provider regarding their policy regarding Ebay and Paypal transaction fraud and whether they will assist you. If they won't, use another card. 4. Ask for shipping information, date, carrier, reference # at the time of sale. 5. Allow just 2 weeks to get your stuff. 6. File a complaint with Paypal if it doesn't arrive. They give 30 days max, to file. 7. Email the seller and tell him a complaint was filed 8. If he comes through, you can always withdraw. (not until you get the goods) 9. Contact your Credit Card service provider. In the case most Cards, they will ask some questions including if you have filed a Paypal complaint, and then send you a complaint form for you to fax back. 10. The Credit Card service provider will file a chargeback to the bank the seller used and get your money refunded by the fraudster's bank.

He just tested email notification, I saw it on one reply. I unchecked it and now don't see it, I don't know if it went away because I checked it or if it was just a momentary test.
Personally I won't use it because I'd get clogged with lots of email, and I follow most threads closely anyway.
Now having more than 30 PMs stored, or some way to easily save them locally, would be nice. Eventually I'm going to have 30 PMs that I absolutely can't delete.

I'd still like to see a Kill/Raped/Dominated/Demolished/Utterly Destroied section on here. Stores like that are what I live for like "03 VIPER GETS STUNG BY MY 87 GT!" or "Porsche guy gets more than he bargained for!" or something like that. Dunno, just a thought.... -Ben
I really like the latest changes to the forum, but I would like to see an easier way to login so that I can see my favorites at the beginning of my session. Could an additional button be added to the top of pages along with "My Ratings" "Profile"..."Search" that would be the "Login" button?

I would like to chime in on the tech section split. Don't fix what ain't broke. The more splits, the more times you have to wait for pages to load. As has been pointed out, there are still a lot of members/lurkers who are on dial up. As a group, we can't seem to get the hang of posting between Tech and Chat. This won't get better under sections. I also think it will fragment the community. We already are fragmented, as I see nicks in TOT that I never see in Tech or Chat.
Instead of a FAQ or stickies, why don't we have an all time favorites threads section. We could nominate a thread for this catagory if it were really useful, & then vote or Cliff decides, or the dreded volunteer committee decides. A how to install a t-top with pictures thread comes to mind. It could be so instructive, for all of us.
The ratings bar is still the black-ball game, no matter how it's dolled up. Let us see who says what and why, from the start.
Spell check would be such a welcome feature, for us pinheads. As well as some of the additions to the search criteria that others have mentioned.
I am the opinion that Cliff could have a successful career giving seminars on how to run a forum. This is the best run forum I have ever participated in. Thanks Cliff for all the time, effort, and money you invest in this addiction we have for Fieros!
I just thought of something else that's related, but not necessarily the topic at hand. Could you tweak PIP to allow you to scroll "up" to see the most recent photos posted? I've posted quite a number of pics - and it can take quite awhile for me to scroll down through all the old photos to find the ones I've recently posted... just another thought!

There is a login! Look just above the sections on the main forum page. It's not a button, but it does say click here to login. Or if you're already logged in, it says so and gives you the option to log out.

I love the idea of a History/Restoration section similar to Thirdgen.org. However- please don't split up the forum into too many catagories... It ruins the flow. This really is a great forum Cliff.

I dont know if this was suggested yet because i dont feel like going through 5 pages of replys. haha. But like ebay has the "View other items by this user" we should have "View all threads by this user". i think that would be a useful feature
