I thought i'd got lucky and got a sweet deal on a set of flowtech headers off ebay for $62.00 which included shipping, so i figured i got a good deal! Have been in the middle of a slow process of v8ing my 87 base duke car. I got mating the auto trans and 305 sbc together I figured headers were the way to go! Boy was i wrong! does anyone know what i have do to make these headers work. I'm sure someone knows the exact operation for this thanks -gary-

Sorry to hear that. A search here would have avoided that mistake. A cutter and a welder with a lot of skills will help a lot. Otherwise sell them and buy the easy setup (CC10s).

The SBC block hugger headers will not fit the v-8 swap if your running an auto tranny. The collector sits right were the passengerside of the trans would be . Most people are using the sanderson cc90 headers or the old rams horn style manifold. I've done all kinds of brainstorming to figure out a cheaper way to mount common block huggers up with no success. I'm just gonna suck up the cost and go with the cc90's, they aren't as expensive as i thought anyway. Good luck.

Been there, done that.

You will have to re-direct the rear header to avoid the axle, and the front header will need a good chunk taken out to clear the alternator. They dump really low, so you will need some tight radius bends and lots of welding. The A/C compresser will cause interference issues and spark plug access is an issue. All in all, my advice is to sell them and save up for some Sanderson CC-90's or get some ram horn manifolds. The ram horns are ugly, but flow better than some headers and will last forever. There are no clearance issues with the manifolds or the Sandersons.

Good luck.

Stock 82 Corvette manifolds are tubular stainless steel. These come with ugly air lines and heat shields (not a bad idea to keep), but have the same basic shape at the sanderson headers and the rams horns. I got my set with the air lines already removed for $50 on ebay.
