I haven't really worked on this stuff for awhile, been busy with school and whatnot. Here is a peek at the basic new engine for the Fiero game I have been workin' on.
Here's the deal - the old one was very unrealistic in that you could turn when the car was standing still. Also didn't "slide" at all. it was more of a "tank" type movement...this one still has a few issues I need to tweak (like the fact that it turns too quickly if yer going laround 5 mph! :P ) Also, the turning radius of the Fiero is NOT that small... Heh...
But at least this new one acts more like a car. to try it out, just go HERE:
Allow "Vitalize" to install (if it asks you) - it is NOT spyware, adware, or anything like that. It's just like Shoackwave or Flash...
notes: -This is to try out a new way for people to try my stuff, without having to DL a bunch of crap and install it -The car is a bit smaller then the one will be in the game -the skidmarks won't dissappear in the game the way they do on this one. -The front and rear collision sensors will be fixed up. -Exhaust and other stuff will be added (again) -car will go faster in the game.
Just drive around and do some donuts.
Lemme know how it works on yer machines...
Thanks!

I think steering needs to take away more of your speed... I can do donuts for an hour without touching the gas
edit: Whoaa........ found a glitch
When I go to the bottom left corner of the screen, the car was gyrating in a circular motion... speed was 0, and I wasn't touching anything (besides the wall)............. Can't seem to duplicate it now.

About how much of yer speed? if ya down't press the gas while ya do the donuts, you should slow down, right?
(Ahhh, Isee what happened... The slowdown code is mushed up with the screeeeeech code.. Heh...)
I'll work on stickin' that in... edit: I see, teh car DOES slow down, but only a liitle tiny bit...like 1 mph per sec...lol wish I had a car like THAT...

You gotta angle your car as shown, and have it back into a corner....... then it starts bouncing but before, it was moving in a circle! CIRCLE!!! as in, the car was pointed one way, and the center of the car was moving around an imaginary circle O.

Nice touches would be... - down-arrow is reverse instead of brake (but limit the reverse speed to something less than 100mph ) - some other key is the brake - brake + up-arrow = smoke show.

- down-arrow is reverse instead of brake (but limit the reverse speed to something less than 100mph ) -ok (what IS the max speed of a Fiero in reverse?)
- some other key is the brake - ok
- brake + up-arrow = smoke show. -ok
ignorant Question: (can you pop a tire when ya do a burnout?)
Just the top speed of 100mph is too low for our tastes here :-)

If you hold it for long enough, yes. Eventually you both weaken the tire & raise the air pressure (from the heat) to the point of sidewall or belt failure.
If you have this in mind for the game though, you might as well just pick an arbritrary duration at which a tire blows. How long it takes is incredibly variable in the real world.

Great job man. You should change the brake key to like "Shift" or something and change down to reverse. Could use a larger area to drive, maybe some curvy roads drawn, and increase the top speed to at least 120.

Hey, I can't see the text like he can... I think it's all compressed into a square the size of a pin-head at the top of the screen.... <scratches head> To think of all the donut-drawing fun I've been missing!
Here's what I'm seeing:

Say, is there a way you people with computer talent, can make a Fiero for the game Need for Speed Underground and Underground 2 with upgrades and all. I like the game a lot, I just get tired of having to use a rice car to play the game.
lol hold down B and down...rockin' rockin' rockin'
I'll check my PMs when I get home..hafta snag the bus.
Sneak peek of the multiplayer shoot-em up I'm workin' on... basically war on loose-leaf paper, graph paper, to-do lists, etc... very wacky..all scribbles...

Yep, That's what I use, mostly. It's kinda a real pain in the butt to learn in the beginning, if you are new to it, but you can make some neat stuff with it...just need to understand the sheer wackiness of it.
They will be coming out with a new version early next year, should be very much improved...will deal with a few issues with it.
It's a pain in the butt, but you can see how quickly you can make stuff with it. I did most of the "Spyhunter" stuff in less then an hour...
edit: I also made that desktop "Thingie" with it.

thats awesome should probley increase the frame rate those white lines just arn't going fast enough for 120mph and how bout faster top speed? I don't know about anyone else but I would love to drive a fiero at about 220
Does Fusion have a provision for working with 3d objects?? I think that a 3d version with a rear camera view would be awesome. Obviously would be alot of work to do, but then again, if given the opportunity, I'm sure that alot of the forum members would contribute heavily to the cause!
Heh, Yes and No. They DO have 3d support, but it is PAINFUL, and AWFUL (NOT reccommended) There IS something coming out soon, which will be very cool. I've been working with their developers... I'll letcha know..
