The two things I always wanted for a Fiero were a black one and a fastback. I always loved the look of the Pontiac letters all lit up in the fastback tail lights. When Steve was able to get me a black '88 coupe in the spring a few years ago after my white '84 died, as soon as they were able to, Steve & his Dad converted it to a fastback for me on mothers day as my mothers day present I LOVE my '88!! Fastback Fastbacks rock!

21 years and I'm still waiting for it to catch on fire. I know it's an old post but I was searching. Notchies rule! Oh yea and bumper pads are even cooler!

You sound like you are set on a fastback. So, go out and get yourself one. If you shop around, you'll find a good deal.
That way, all that effort you were going to use to swap the bodies, can be used to do some other mod... On either car...
I agree, I can't understand why everyone wants to put fastback clips on notchbacks. Just buy a fastback. At least then you'll get all the upgrades that the GT has. Sure notchbacks are much easier to find but fastbacks are not impossible. I have both, my 87 GT I bought for $ 700. IMO the notchback looks smaller and sportier but the fastback looks more exotic and more modern. Especially the tail lights.

I have had both now. Notchy first, and now a fastback. At first I liked the notchy look but after getting used to the fastback look I like it better.
Notchy
Fastback
Since it is election day I vote for the fastback
Your fastback looks sweet. Kinda says Mad Max to me. I like. I want a few more pics. I was thinking about doing just that to the GT when it's done. $2500 paint job, or 1 case of Krylon. hmmmm

I say notchback. They look more muscular, especially in a dark color with black rims like above. Fastbacks from the side look like any hatchback. But fastbacks look lower and longer, but look better with brighter rims.
I have one of each and used to like the Fastback alot more. I still like the Fastback more but also love my notchie. It is also cool to see people suprised when they find out that your fastback is a Fiero. Who cares what other people think? I don't, but i will say that most people that are Non Fiero lovers will say the Fastback looks better.

I personally like the stock look of a notchback better. Since I first saw one of Archie's fastback chop tops, fastbacks without the top chop look to me like they're bloated. Kinda like looking at then and now shots of Kirstie Alley...or me, lol...guess age catches up with all of us sooner or later.

I always liked the Gt. But what put me over the top was that Pontiac lights up when ur lights are on. I thought that was very cool! -Matt
Matt, I don't blame you, it's similar to that feeling you get when leaving most stores, they put all those goodies out for the impulse buyer in us. The flashly lights, the shinny bling, you know what I'm talking about. It won't be long and you'll come around. I love all 88 Fieros and I'd own a GT if it didn't look like all the ricers out there. BTW, yours is till one of the nicest I've seen, for a GT that is.

At this point I would have to say notchie as well ...... But if these ever had made it to production I think the PPG's would be stealing both F/B and Notchies away. Heres mine
