I'm going to plug this into my cnc mill at home after I finish the engraved oil catch can.. may as well sell em to those who want one (after i've made and tested)

the degree marks are the cam degrees - not crank

so the 13 degree retard people like to do is 6.5 cam degrees

this is really just a preliminary design till I get some more measurements
I'll be redesigning it to allow adjusting screws to apply force to the cams to adjust them with the crank sitting at TDC.

redesigned - there is now a 3/4" hex to put a wrench on to adjust the cam timing
its currently adjustable up to 12 degrees advance or retard.. (24 crank degrees each direction)

This would be a hot seller on 60* V-6. Changing the cam timing is a pain in the but the common way. I'd be very interested in this.

alright I got the measurements off the engine today and modeled it up -

this is now the latest design - its been priced for production and can be ready in 1 month
I may start a pre-buy to get these done asap if I can get people interested at 75$ with free shipping

I will be milling the prototype next week for a test fitting before ordering a production run.

i'd be in too. response to what you said at the top. yep, cams move at 1/2 speed of the crank.
1 suggestion, since the 6.5 will be the most popular use of your tool, put a 6.5 specific mark on it.

problem is .5 degrees is about the width of the actual mark itself

edit: hmm ok i may have an idea for a different location for the timing marks.. after I make the main peice i'll play around with a pencil

I made the cam holding tool, stil turned. I nthe end I used the impact gun. 30 seconds and they were off versus 2 days of messing around with the 'correct' tools.

the cam pulleys on the 3.4 TDC are not keyed.. they are essentially just held on by a bolt.. so to time the cams you have to set the crank at top dead center and use a tool that holds a flatspot on the cams in place then tighten the bolts again.. this tool allows you to set degrees of advance or retard before tightening that bolt.

just a little update with something prettier after engraving and painting (the production version would be anodized not painted)
I'm currently figuring out how to flow a bright pigment into the engraved degree markes..

Fantastic work. I have always had to use the impact on the cam bolts. It is the easiest way.

Have you used the tool yet? I am anxious to get one of these. Thanks for all the great work.

Unless i get around to it sonner it will be getting tested next weekend, and pending any revisions would be available for sale a month after
(after a successful testing i'll be accepting pre-buy orders, but not untill I know for sure the design doesn't need changes)
