>>>>>EDIT: New pics on page 5!

It's coming up soon! April 29&30 in San Juan Bautista we'll be making another run down Highway 25, named by Car and Driver Magazine as one of the 10 best driving roads in the United States. This year we'll be heading south on 25 to King City for lunch, then back up north on 25. Dinner will again be at El Jardines de San Juan, unless there is a consensus to change that venue.

This is NOT a show, but a chance for like minded Fiero fanatics to come out and have some fun touring a great road. It is a challenging road, so make sure your car is in good mechanical shape. And please, no death-wish driving.

Some pics from last year...

See link in siggy for more details!

I'm there.

Just curious, why not a jaunt on Carmel Valley Road? Too long a trip?

Too many people complained about the condition of the road. It is a bit of a kidney shaker, even for non lowered cars. I dunno. If people want to go back North on Carmel Valley, that can be an option.

Ha Ha, it's got a date with the smog ref first. So I need to get my butt in gear and work on things. I have not even worked on the car since the Coast Run. I guess if it aint broke dont fix it? But I would like to finish up some of the small stuff that never got done. I also told Allen I would do an easy steer for his 88GT also. So I have alot of work to do.

Ok, tour guide Stimpy, what is the proposed route that we will be taking? I missed last year so I would like to take a look at my map to get a feel for it.

I wish I could get my car reliable enough to trust it for this trip. Sounds like a lot of fun.

No death-wish driving? You're just out to ruin all my fun, aren't you? I guess I should just be thankful that I'll be able to make it for more than just dinner this year.

Looks like i'm going to make it this year. Can't wait! Maybe some of the people that go on the Rally through the Valley will want to go on Wine Country run to Middletown.

I'd say that if one does the whole circuit of 25 and Carmel Valley Road it would be about 180 miles.

I'll definitely think about it! I'd have to calculate gas prices and whatnot, and hope my Fiero is up to the treck across the states from Ohio! Too bad for me I've never been anywhere except Ohio and Michigan, but it would be fun to take a quick tour through the states huh? Sleeping in the Fiero isn't exactly comfortable though, lol!

There's a buttload of people from Ohio on this forum. Y'all need to caravan out here. It may not be Wheatstock or Daytona, but it could be pretty cool.

Hey stimp that restraunt had great food but you can't tell me that wasn't the absolute worst service this side of old Mexico.Ok you could tell me that but you could do it with out laughing.
1 waitress for 40 people is just insane.Maybe we could have a little talk with them first or reserve some homeless peeps for a couple hours to help out.Nevermind the homeless peeps but definetly reserve time at the restraunt. They have a really nice place there.
For all you wads about to get on my case about poor homeless people I will buy dinner for any in the vicinity so there.

Now as far as driving with a death wish I also think John Tinay(SPDDY) needs to chill out a bit he is krazy. With a handle like speedy you know he has some issues he needs to work out.I'll have a talk with him about it so don't worry.

I'm not to upset about not taking that second part of the trek. That road took ten years off the life of my little SE and this year I'm bringing my GT and it lower so better for me.The GT is an auto so I doubt we will be hanging on the corners like last year.Kinda sad really I miss that SE.
No matter what it is going to be a ball!!

Word. I think it would probably be better to just go in regular like, as in "not in group" so each table would have a server. It's not like we could hear what y'all were talking about down there anyway.

As far as the deathwish driving goes, this is a road with a lot of blind turns, and I'd hate to see someone get taken out by a farm truck. I'll keep a brisk pace up, but if anybody feels the need to cross a double yellow line on a blind turn to pass, let me know ahead of time and I'll just shoot you and cut out the middleman.

Rick, after trying to "decipher" what the road names were, your looking at 168.7 miles according to STREETS & TRIPS, going the "circular" trip marked in Green.

On the 2nd, with the purple, you are looking at 137.9 Miles.

With the "Easy Steer" does it really matter which way we go?

Stimp, I’m working on making it this year, as the car should be ready, and as long as the homework is not really bad, count me in!

Here is the "In Work" thread:

I'll call and make arrangements, but I don't really want to get stuck with "1 table = 1 server". That's not really cool.

And that's ok, we were talking about you.

Highway 25 has a good set of straights that go for about 3 or 4 miles of unobstructed view, so it's pretty easy and relatively safe to exceed the limit. The twisty areas are pretty challenging at the speed limit. When you get to Carmel Valley Road you're doing good if you get to the speed limit.

But one thing to understand, on the freeways in and around the Bay Area, if you're doing 80 mph, you're going to get blown off the road. CHP around here is pretty much for scraping up the remains.

You're one to talk. I'd love to hear the conversation you and spddy will have/had about this. Did you agree to keep it to double digits or what? All I know is, I expect more from you two than at the Coast Run. Pokey, no blowing up cars, and spddy, tell the wife to hang on

Last year folks from San Diego made it, but no-one from LA said anything to me.

FYI, I sent out an email to everyone on our Westfest mailing list (almost 300 names), and we sent about 150 mailers to people who we don't have an email for in the database. The rally was one of the events we listed. I hope we will see a good turnout.

Keep up the good work, Stimpy.

Hey Jeff do we already have a head count going and how about the hotel reservations?
I'm not going to sleep in the car like those two nut cases from Arizona did at west fest.
Also I have not heard from Dale if he is going. He doesn't post on the forum anymore maybe I'll call him if nobody knows.

Really no. But this is a BYO party anyway. No catering involved. Just show up if you can. There are plenty of rooms, though.
