Goal is to leave by 10:30 on Saturday morning. I had planned on congregating at a restaurant on Pacheco Pass Rd, but they refused to give me a biscuit with my breakfast last time I was there (even though they had biscuits) so f*** them. We'll be meeting in the parking lot of the San Juan Inn, which is on the south side of The Alameda (main drag) across 156 from the rest of the town.
which... in fiero talk... means we'll leave at about 11:15. :P

SJB is 500 miles from Vegas (due to no roads that take me exactly that direction) Diego is 330. No matter witch way I slice it up its 7+ hours at 70. I'll try to get some days off, but being that its still a new job, they are going to hassle me about it. I'll see what happens.

Well I know of him A couple of PMs is all but he owns a fiero so even if he is a serial killer i'm sure he doesn't kill fiero poeple. We need more Newbies they have new storys to tell.
Hahaha, yeah I don't personally know Pokey yet - but he lives like what, 5 miles away? Brentwood (not the OJ Brentwood) is like right next door to the Yoc'. Matter of fact, I grew up in Brentwood. Hey, maybe if I get my car together, tested, and reliable by then and can make it, we can meet up and cruise down there? Sure I'll run into you sooner or later!

And if he still has to take the Coupe De Slow then you'll be able to keep up with him without felonies on the way down

If not, just unplug it. Your highway RPM will be higher, that's about it.
Bear, you honestly think it'll work fine if i just unplug it? i'm scared it's going to stall again, the car barely made it back home (down hill) and stalled going into the garage hahaha. San bautista is a long way from home, if you think it'll work i'll do it.
Scott, i like your lights man, looks great! have any more pictures?

It'll work fine, but your highway RPMs will be even higher than they usually are. All that solenoid does is lock up the torque converter at highway speeds so you get lower RPMs and, subsequently, better gas milage.
I'll take you some more pics today or tomarrow.

Dude, we gotta get you a 4T60 or something. That or do a manual conversion.
seriously man, i'm up for a manual swap. I have enough money saved up to buy all the parts right now, but i'd like to save up a little more for back up. Or even the same type of tranny with an overdrive. My car has been sitting in the garage for a very long time now... it's been out side about 3 times since december..

If you don't know how to unplug the TCC solenoid, give me a call. I can do it for you in 10 seconds. Then, drive it around town until you're sure you're comfortable with it.

I'm glad that we're going to have a good amount of people from San Jose. I really haven't got to meet too many local folks since I've been back in Cali.
Everyone please remember to arrive having eaten. There are a few good places right off of the freeway in Gilroy, if you're coming from the south on 101 there are a couple of places I can recommend in Salinas. If you're coming east on Pacheco Pass, the Cedar House has good food, but they won't give you a biscuit.
As I said the goal is to leave the San Juan Inn at 10:30. We'll head to the Safeway gas station in Hollister which generally has the cheapest gas around, so don't feel like you've got to fill up in SJB. The only gas station in rown is a bunch of theives. The distance is about 80 miles between Hollister and Coalinga, so no one should have a problem getting there on one tank. We'll also load up Janell's Mini with about 4 or 5 Jerry cans of gas, the big 5 gallon ones. Janell, just keep your windows down.

So. I'm getting excited. Anyone else?
yes. quite excited... however not too excited that my new car is going to smell like gas for weeks after this. DEFINITELY will be driving at LEAST the speed limit. Really don't want any of that foul concoction spilling in my car. that would be... bad.
I should probably get on reserving a room, huh? I'll do that when I get back.
oh, and only 16 days left!!! [and 15, and 14, and 13... as I'll be gone till sunday. long beach here I come!]

Kelvin Vivian...what time saturday morning are you leaving? Perhaps we could go together? I live near Meridian and 280. Send me a PM if you want.....
Kit (86 GT)
I'm right off Montague Exressway and 101 in Santa Clara. I have a brother who lives in Hollister, so I might stay over nite at his place Friday night and then drive over to San Juan in the morning. If I do not do that, we'll definitely cruise down together. I'll keep you posted. - kv

Gees, I'm just catching up after not having read the Forum for quite awhile. Add Jerry and I to the list. We have resos for Friday & Saturday. We were set for last year, but had relatives come in from out of town 3 days before, so are really looking forward to the drive for the first time and seeing you all again. Glad you're better, Stimpy. This is your gig, man, and we all appreciate it!
im in south orange county and probably gonna have to work that morning but if I can get the address of where you are meeting for dinner I might be able to make it up for that (I would love to be able to make it but work is what pays for the repairs and gas) just a question from a n0ob.
