fieroX and I might have to make this one. There's a chance.
Thank goodness - - I was on the verge of cancelling the drag night part of this weekend. I have been chiding people, challenging folks, and everything else with nobody committing to the drags.
How many other people want to use the drag strip Saturday night?

Sounds like fun. I would hate to break my car 1400 miles away from home, and I know I would. Maybe someday when it's closer..... That is one hell of a deal tho!

Is it just limited to fiero's? If I tow my fiero I could race my truck too.
I graduated from HS in Deming, just a stone's throw away - plus my Dad still lives there! The event hotel will be in Deming, BTW. Anyway, I know some pretty good mechanics there.
Plus, there will be some people from El Paso, Tucson, and Albuquerque at the meet with a solid Fiero background, including (but not limited to) Greg Duncan from Bud's Out Back - - a premier shop specializing in Fieros. I notice you have a 4.9, well if it is a Fiero Factory conversion - Ed got his 4.9 introduction and education from Greg!!
Like somebody already has said, that excuse simply just doesn't hold water.

I am writing this from my camper at a rest area near Macon, GA. But I plan to return home mid-week next week, and will develop a form to pre-register for all to submit at that time.
Right now, I count 11 for the weekend, and 2 have expressed an interest in draggin'. But ask any officer of CFOGi, Fiero owners are notorious about procrastinating until the last minute - - I am not concerned or worried about the lack of committment (at least not at this point).
Remember one thing, though. The track is already paid for! So there isn't going to be the last minute begging for entrants, counting pennies, etc. as in the past. If I break even, or (Heaven forbid) make a little, it just might happen again - and there only needs to be about 22 entrants to break even. If I lose a single cent however, then somebody else will have to carry the track day banner in future years.
Anyway, there will be a registration form on-line by next weekend.

Hmmm.... 1600miles, 24 hours driving time (one-way), racing on a track just across the border from Mexico in the summer heat (it's a dry heat ). Sorry... that's a bit too much for me for this year - Enjoy the event though!

Ther shortest route is to go south on I-25 to Hatch, then over to Deming. Once on I-10, 17 miles back east from Deming to Akilla Flats exit. The track is visible from the interstate.
Easiest route - I-25 south to Las Cruces, then west on I-10 to the Akilla Flats exit.

DESCRIPTION - - All the track time you can handle PLUS Drag Racing (timed only – no brackets) on Sat. night. On 07/15 the track will be run counter-clockwise, and on Sunday it will be run clockwise.
An authentic Mexican Banquet will be fit in there somewhere!!
LOCATION - - - - Arroyo Seco is located off I-10 in New Mexico at exit 102, also known as the Akela exit. It is on the south west side of the freeway. Take a right on Hwy 549 and then the first left into the parking lot. Camping is allowed on the premises, but there are no hookups. Bring anything you may need. There are porta-potties on site.
FEES - - - - - - - - $150.00 for the entire weekend!
w00t w00t!!!! Thats only an hour from my house!!! I can't believe I missed this thread!!
There for sure! When does the registration need to be paid by? Accept paypal?
All I'm bringing is another slow dirty 86GT auto...but gotta be fun. Helmet required?
Does 150 include hotel, or do I have to borrow a camper and park at the track?
Registration needs to be paid by the time you try to get in the gate. Helmets are required, the tech inspection is equivalent to an autocross tech. No loose items, battery secured, wheel bearings tight, brakes good pedal with good pads , (might not hurt to bring a spare set of pads for 2 days of track time).
My PayPal is george.ryan@sbcglobal.net. If you send PayPal, you will need to send $157.50 to cover the PayPal charge. I would prefer check or money order (personal checks are OK).
Helmets required, Snell 90 or newer.
Accomodations are not included in the entry fee. I will be arranging a block of rooms at a hotel/motel (hopefully for a discounted rate) when I get down there the end of next week - watch this post or the FieroRacingList. I will be staying in my camper, I think.
Man, you could easily commute back and forth!! Of course, you would miss all the Fiero stories and lies if you did

I have arranged for a block of rooms at a reduced rate at the Deming Holiday Inn at Exit 85 on I-10.
At our group rate, the rooms are 49.95 a night. To get this price, you must call the hotel directly. If you were to call the 800 number or make reservations on-line, you will not get this group rate.

Please reference the website www.arroyosecoraceway.com for any information about Arroyo Seco, our event, or to access the Arroyo Seco message board. The other website (hosted by the previous owners) has not been updated since 2002. For example, that site shows the track as closed during July and August - which we know is untrue! The only thing I have found to be valid on the other owners site is the track layout and description.
There are many events scheduled at Arroyo Seco for the summer, not just not ours. Bracket racing, motorcycle races, schools and trackdays are scheduled, plus many Friday night events.
I have initiated a topic about our event on the Arroyo Seco message board, just for grins. If any of you have questions about the track or the Fiero Fiesta - - please feel free to use this forum. The track officials moderate and monitor each topic, and will respond to you there.
Pardon any cross-posts

If some of you reading this are on the fence about going , just think about how you felt missing out on all the fun and friendship during the 20th and Wheatstock events. If your not sure about joining the track day event or driving your car on a race track, don't be. It's at your own pace and you can pull off the track any time you have to go to the bathroom. It's loads of fun and safe to do. Don't miss out !!!

I have cancelled the track reservation at Arroyo Seco, cancelled the blocked rooms at the Deming Holiday Inn, and also cancelled the catered dinner.
All DUE TO A LACK OF INTEREST!!
If anybody wishes to pick up the tab for all this (with only 3 people confirmed to attend) please give me a call at (918) 808-7120 and I will provide all the contacts and contracts that is involved.
George - sorry to hear that the track day didn't pan out... I'm sure it would've been a great time. Hopefully next year we'll all be in a better position to get to & run at a track day event (maybe something a bit more centrally located ) - I know I'm looking forward to getting my car back on the track someday (and at least a few people here are as well) !

George - thanks for the effort. I'm sorry it didn't work out. Brian and I were gonna be there. Don't give up the ship, I'm sure it will happen again.
Brian and I are organizing some midweek track events here in Northern California, at Thunderhill Raceway. The first one is Thursday, May 26. $179, and you get seven sessions. Not a Fiero-only event, but we've got some Fiero folks that are going. If anyone is interested, drop me an email.
