February 1, 2005 at 6:45 am. Well it happened. I was sitting at a light and some one hit me from behind. I will heal but the little car wont. I feel that the car probably saved my life. I had to get 8 staples and 3 stitches in my head. The car is probably totaled, the rear bumper is smashed in and the trunk is caved in. The front of the car went under the SUV in front of me and the head lights stopped it. I know the hood is toast and the fascia. The windshield is cracked. They should be dropping it off at my house after 3:00 today.
Word of warning, next time your in your car look at the roof just behind the seat. See that little hook? Remove them, I busted open my head when the guy hit me, it cut me up that they needed to use clamps to pull it closed.
Anyway I’m ok and the car is replaceable, that’s why you have to have more than one. Guess the GT will keep the 2.8 for a few more months.
Once I see all of the damage I will see if I can repair it or if it is too far gone. I do have a V8 that I could put in it and make it my hotrod.

That just sucks! I'm sorry to hear about it, but I'm glad you are okay. Must have scared the living poop out of you! Take it easy for a couple of day. You'll probably be feeling it more tomorrow.

I will just have to wait till the insurance tells me what they are going to do. The rear bumper is fixable but for the front I would have to talk to Norm
Glad you made it alright! At radioshack you can get plugs that you can stick into holes. They could replace the hangers, and still look good. I'm tall enough, that I would expect the same thing to happen to me an a bad accident.
Take care!

Good to hear you're O.K. sorry to hear about the fiero. I removed those hooks in my old fiero, but haven't yet in the GT. Another little item to put on the TO DO list.
I trust my own driving skills, but not anyone else on the road. One reason I don't drive the fiero in the winter even though it handles real good, just too many other that don't have any skills. Knock on wood for a keen sence in avoiding accidents! 0 to date, too many "almosts"!
I was wearing my seat belt but, I hit my head because I’m 6’2” I’m going to invest in 5 point over the shoulder belts for the V8. The impact pushed the back of the car in the air and shoved the front of the car under the SUV in front of me. The seatbelt did keep me from hitting the steering wheel. There is a lot of damage under the front fascia but it didn’t get into the radiator. I will probably be able to fix it, the trunk can be pounded back out and the mounting points bent back to where they should be. It will be a lot of work, but I do have a parts car. If I wasn’t doing the V8 I would try to find a used 308 kit and just scrap the body panels. I will still be going to Daytona but it will probably be in a Toyota.

Sorry about your Fiero. Glad to hear that you'll be ok is what's really important. You've convinced me when I re-do my headliner in the spring I will permantly remove the coat hooks. Stupid things....who the heck ever uses them anyways!

damn...........Damn Glad you are pretty much ok ! I am fixin to start taking apart an 85 and an 86 SE. What ever parts I have which you can use are yours. Just let me know. Your's appears to have ground effects, mine do not. The 85 has the bumper pad inserts but the 86 may work. Just let me know. Again, glad you are ok.

Jake, Glad to hear you're okay (more or less). Take it easy over the next day or so...I was in a car accident where I was hit from the rear side and thought I was okay. Turns out I ended up in physical therapy for my back for the next 6 months. Sleep works wonders...make sure you rest your body. Your car will live on from the sound of your planned resurrection. Take care buddy and we're glad you're okay.

I've actually used them twice. Once picking up my tuxedo for prom, and once taking it back! I wish you a speedy recovery Jake, and hopefully you can get the car fixed.
Man you arel lucky. Glad you made it out reasonably okay. Thanks for the heads up (no pun intended) about the hooks, i am going to be pulling those suckers out for sure.
Florida has got to be one of the worst places for careless motorists,..i hear Cali is pretty bad too ?? Too many cell phones, too many tourists looking at signs instead of paying attention to the road, and too many locals fed up with the slow moving tourists and driving crazy to get where they want to go.

Hey Jake, glad to hear you're OK. One of my parts cars is a gold notchback. I bought it to save the cherry T-tops. Get in touch with me if you want to use some of the body parts off it. Harry

Is it just me, or is that Fiero looking pleased with itself? Take a pic from the front.
"Did I do good, George? Did I?"
Glad to hear you're ok. Cars are replaceable, so's a little blood. Limbs and heads are a little tougher.
I will try and get a picture from the front, too much light and a cheap camera so the one I took of the front of the car didnt come out.
There is frame damage to the front of the car, the Isuzu I hit had the spare under the bumper and it did a lot of damage. The headlights are toast and the radiator looks like it is pushed back. I cant get the hood open and dont want to take it off till I hear from the Insurance company. My head hurts but other than that I feel fine.
I'm pretty sore today, just ache all over. The insurace company of the guy who hit me called, I will call them back in the morning. Its still up in the air, I want to fix the car but dont know how much they will pay me for a car that is 19 years old.

You might be surprised... Have you done/had done any work to it and do you have the reciepts? Talk to the your insurance company and explain the situation. They might be able to help. Just saw this. Sorry to hear you were in a wreck. Good to hear you'll make it.
Ahh heck, Little Bondo and Meguires and it will buff right out !!! give me a call if you need any parts. I have a rear bumper(metal bar) and the supports. Also have a few of the egg crates as well.

Im glad your ok..... And I hope you can save the little fiero If not you still have another car to transplant the engine into and you have the nice brake upgrade The person that hit you was probally on a dang cell phone.
They really need to start writing tickets to ppl caught using a cell phones.

Bring the saw and welder over and you can help me fix it after the insurance pays me. They are still playing phone tag with me, I cant call long distance from work. It will all work out in the end one way or another.
