That's a mid-engine Ford prototype. Can't remember the designation, but it is in that image if you can figure out the garbled text on the fourth line... "Cobra" something.

And then a couple modern mid engine cars

I think the one he was talking about before I stole the post was sold by Ford at a Christie's auction.

Somewhere, in the deep, dank recesses of my basement, I have a box filled with "Shelby Americans", which is the magazine of the Shelby American Automobile Club. I was a member for many years. In one of those magazines, there is a road test of this automobile. It did have "Cobra" as part of its name, although there was more to it. Someone brought up this same car on the forum a few years ago, and at the time, I tried to find that issue. Never did, but I KNOW it's down there, somewhere. The car was supposed to be headed for production, but apparently never made it.

1986 Ford Cobra 230 ME is what was told to me, no pics or info at the moment.

Here we go (From Innotech, on another forum of mine):

"American Dream Cars: 60 Years of the Best Concept Vehicles"

"Back in the mid 1980's, there was talk that the wedge-shaped Cobra 230 ME was going to be Ford's new two-seat mid-engined sports car of the 1990's.
It would have been nice, since a transversely mid-mounted 230 Horsepower engine powered it. This Dual overhead cam inline four-cylinder was equipped with electronic fuel injection, and an intercooled turbocharger.

Ford estimated that the 230 ME would have had a top speed of 130 mph and run 0-60 mph in less than 6.0 seconds.
Design details included dual spoiler wings that spread across the rear window and a roof scoop that drew cool air down to the horizontally placed radiator. Out front, there was a low air dam, and just ahead of the rear wheels were large intake scoops."
